Book Baby Buddhas

Download or read book Baby Buddhas written by Lisa Desmond and published by Andrews McMeel Publishing. This book was released on 2011-08-01 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Testimonials from parents describe the positive changes in their children since the start of meditation practice. Their children: * became calmer, kinder, and more thoughtful of themselves and the world around them, * developed a stronger sense of self, and * learned to comfort themselves when feeling anxious. Baby Buddhas: A Guide for Teaching Meditation to Children is the first book to show parents and educators how to teach meditation to preschool-age children. Through irresistible photos and easy-to-follow text, Lisa Desmond clearly explains her copyrighted method of teaching meditation to children 18 months to three years old. Baby Buddhas also highlights the benefits of meditation for parents and children and shows how to incorporate meditation into family life. Part One, "Creating Your Space," explains how to create a simple meditation space in the home or school and explains the importance of sound, posture, and breathing. In Part Two, "Adult Meditations," adults learn three meditations to give them an opportunity to learn and meditate on their own before teaching children. Part Three, "Children's Meditations," includes 10 meditations suitable for children, organized from simplest to most complex. The children's meditations include the "Sunshine Meditation," in which the child learns to breathe in a "sunshine ball of light" full of love, and the "Om Meditation," which helps children calm themselves and feel love, even when their parents are away. All the children's meditations use repetition and simple words and images that children can easily understand. Parents who have used Lisa's techniques marvel at how their children have become calmer and more focused since they started meditating. With Baby Buddhas, parents and educators can give the children in their care a gift that will last a lifetime.

  • ISBN : 1634179862
  • Pages : 127 pages

Download or read book Lyme Loonies written by David Skidmore and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2015-08-28 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Life is either a comedy or tragedy. Lyme Loonies is a little bit of both. In the first cartoon book about Lyme disease, creator David Skidmore captures and illuminates the struggles faced by those with Lyme. The cartoons are a way of expressing hope, humor and revolt at the tug-of-war in which the Lyme community find themselves regarding diagnosis, treatment, education, funding, prevention, public apathy and a cure. Lyme Loonies is a book created in solidarity with those familiar with Lyme disease. You will laugh and maybe even cry, definitely shake your head then most likely smile. Your palm also might hit your face a little too hard a couple times, but a sense of relief will follow knowing that you are not alone. It is a book to share with family, friends and those who are unaware of Lyme, because education and awareness will bring the change we all want, need and deserve. If laughter really is the best medicine, then a daily dose of Lyme Loonies is just what you need.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A substantially revised edition of a bestselling text combining explanation and implementation using Excel; for classroom use or as a reference for finance practitioners. Financial Modeling is now the standard text for explaining the implementation of financial models in Excel. This long-awaited fourth edition maintains the “cookbook” features and Excel dependence that have made the previous editions so popular. As in previous editions, basic and advanced models in the areas of corporate finance, portfolio management, options, and bonds are explained with detailed Excel spreadsheets. Sections on technical aspects of Excel and on the use of Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) round out the book to make Financial Modeling a complete guide for the financial modeler. The new edition of Financial Modeling includes a number of innovations. A new section explains the principles of Monte Carlo methods and their application to portfolio management and exotic option valuation. A new chapter discusses term structure modeling, with special emphasis on the Nelson-Siegel model. The discussion of corporate valuation using pro forma models has been rounded out with the introduction of a new, simple model for corporate valuation based on accounting data and a minimal number of valuation parameters. Book Thin Wizzard Ward

    Book Details:
  • Author : David Marx
  • Publisher : Xlibris Corporation
  • Release : 2009-09-12
  • ISBN : 146531492X
  • Pages : 220 pages

Download or read book Thin Wizzard Ward written by David Marx and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2009-09-12 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I wrote this book of pages of poetry during my upper class college years attending Portland State U. I was majoring in biology education (about 1975). But I was hanging out at what I call a salon of a friend named Elizabeth. The zs of the title come from her name. Thin Lizzy was popular at the time but I didnt want to use the whole name. So I came up with Thin Wizzard. Ward I suppose because everyone (especially me) abides around hospital wards. Also Ward is an ancestral name of the family, so it felt personal to me. I have written four of these books of poetry. Poetry for lack of a better description; pages of poetry with titles up where they normally appear in poetry, after the last line of the last page and near the top. I edited out any swear words with bleeps. Otherwise they are true to their original creation 33 years ago. They get shuffled around a lot: typed, punctuated in part, word processed, data processed, printed, and who knows what next! Elementally they were penned to be read. From me to you. Have fun!

Book Swimming with Elephants

Download or read book Swimming with Elephants written by Sarah Bamford Seidelmann and published by Red Wheel/Weiser. This book was released on 2017-01-01 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "A fascinating, amusing, and wise account of how someone born with a shaman's predilections, raised in a rationalist culture, finds her way back to her true self." - Martha Beck, The New York Times bestselling author After 2 decades in the study and practice of medicine, Sarah Seidelmann took a 3-month sabbatical to search for a way to feel good again. Having witnessed human suffering early in her career and within her own family, she longed for a way to address more than just the physical needs of her patients and to live in a lighter, more conscious way. Swimming with Elephants tells the eccentric, sometimes poignant, and occasionally hilarious experience of a working mother undergoing a bewildering vocational shift from physician to shamanic healer. During that tumultuous period of answering her call, Sarah met an elephant who would become an important spirit companion on her journey, had bones thrown for her by a shaman in South Africa, and traveled to India for an ancient Hindu pilgrimage, where she received the blessing she had been longing for. Ultimately, she discovered an entirely different way of healing, one that she had always aspired to and that enabled her to help those who are suffering. "From the lakes of Minnesota to the Ganges River in India, Sarah Seidelmann's transformative journey from MD to shamanistic healer is a refreshingly honest and very funny tale of spiritual growth." - Matt Adrian, author of The Guide to Troubled Birds "This is an exceedingly vulnerable, beautifully written book and the most genuine spiritual memoir I have ever read. It is also - in many hilarious moments - laugh out loud funny." - Maria Bamford, Comedian and star of Netflix Original Series Lady Dynamite

Book Goodbye Little Rock and Roller

Download or read book Goodbye Little Rock and Roller written by Marshall Chapman and published by Macmillan. This book was released on 2007-04-01 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Goodbye, Little Rock and Roller was a 2004 SEBA Book Award finalist, and a 2004 Book Critics Circle Award finalist. Goodbye, Little Rock and Roller is an inventive and original book from Nashville singer/songwriter Chapman, who uses twelve of her most resonant songs as entry points to many of her life's adventures. Not a memoir, but a map of the places Chapman's been and what went through her mind as she was traveling there, this book is funny and tender, warm and exuberant. Raised a debutante in Spartanburg, South Carolina, the daughter of a mill owner and firmly part of proper society, Chapman became a rocker at a time when women weren't yet picking up electric guitars. She is "a living example," as one reviewer wrote, "of the triumph of rock and roll over good breeding." From New Year's Eve in 1978 when Jerry Lee Lewis gave Chapman advice on how to live life ("I mean it's one thing when your mother says 'Honey don't you think you'd better slow down?' But when The Killer voices his concern....") to the time her black maid Cora Jeter took the seven-year-old to see Elvis, Goodbye, Little Rock and Roller goes to the moments when the influences on Chapman's songwriting and psyche were cemented. And it winningly reveals how the creative process comes from life: one of Chapman's favorite songs was written after waking up facedown in her underpants in her front-yard vegetable garden. Revealing intimate rock and roll moments and memories of a South Carolina childhood, Marshall Chapman is a fresh voice firmly in the Southern tradition.
