Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With his 'Collected Supernotes' author John O'Loughlin has combined, on a highly abstract basis, material derived from the independently published titles, Devil and God – The Omega Book, From Materialism to Idealism, Towards the Supernoumenon, Elemental Spectra, Critique of Post-Dialectical Idealism, Philosophical Truth, Veritas Philosophicus, and Last Judgements, which span the period 1985–93, with a view to bringing some kind of strict chronology to bear on a series of writings dubbed 'supernotational', to distinguish them from essays on the one hand and aphorisms on the other, thereby allowing him to establish a kind of intermediate position between essays and aphorisms in the interests of what became a gradual progression towards an enhanced sense of philosophical logic commensurate, so he believes, with 'Supertruth' and, ultimately, with a kind of plateau of aphoristic purism. – A Centretruths Editorial

Book excerpt: The problem of skepticism about knowledge of the external world has been the centrepiece of epistemology since Descartes. In the last 25 years, there has been a keen focus of interest on the problem, with a number of new insights by the best contemporary epistemologists and philosophers of mind. Anthony Brueckner is recognized as one of the leading contemporary investigators of the problem of skepticism. Essays on Skepticism collects Brueckner's most important work in this area, providing a connected and comprehensive guide to the complex state of play on this intensively studied area of philosophy. The guiding questions of this volume are: Can we have knowledge of the external world of things outside our minds? Can we have knowledge of the internal world of our own contentful mental states? The work divides into four sections: I. Transcendental Arguments against Skepticism; II. Semantic Answers to Skepticism; III. Self-knowledge; IV. Skepticism and Epistemic Closure.

Download or read book The Alpha and Omega written by Oswald Sequeira and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2010-05-27 with total page 191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Alpha and Omega" is a book about the truth-and nothing but the truth-the knowledge about truth which is called Wisdom. The book starts from the beginning of time-"The Alpha" and takes the reader on a smooth ride down creation of the Universe, then with Historical and Archeological proof down ancient times, medieval times to current time. From there it transports the reader in to the future-where we are going and where we will end-"The Omega" . It is a unique, bold, one of a kind "Lone Ranger" type of book. The author after his encounter with death and subsequent survival from two major illnesses which attacked him together, began seeking for the truth of life and after four years of dedicated research, found it in the sacred books of the four major religions of the world- the Bible of Christians, the Torah of the Jews, the Koran of the Muslims and the Bagavat Gita of the Indian Hindus. The truth shocked yet consoled him when he understood that the these warring religions are, but the four rooms of one single house, built on one single foundation yet, blocked out from each other. Whose builder is "the single central figure" who is also the "Corner Stone". He was disappointed to note that the leaders of these religions are aware of this fact, yet are misguiding their followers- keeping them in darkness to keep them trapped under their own religious banner for ever, although it is creating so much of unnecessary chaos in this world. This is the purpose of this book- the message that the author wants to spread to the world and not conversion from any faith to any faith. However, he believes that one religion stands way ahead of the other three because of the solid proof it possesses, both historical and archeological. The book is a unique amalgamation of the truth derived from these four sacred books and assembled in one place, thus saving any truth seeker from the hassle of tedious cross reference into these four books. He has also described in simple understandable language some of the visions in the Bible and how they are connected directly with recorded History and can therefore be considered true. He has also unmasked the identity of the devil and anti christ, and has explained who are the demons, ghosts and spirits of the dead, the Armageddon and the end of the world. Finally, he has challenged the reader by throwing an option at him to believe in the truth he the author has presented if the reader wishes, thereby acquire peace and tranquility within himself and then be an instrument in spreading it within his circle and world at large for a better tomorrow. The author pledged that part of the royalties earned for this book will be given to The Canadian Cancer Society-Canada and a charity institution in India.

Book Omega

  • Author : Camille Flammarion

  • Pages : 194 pages

Download or read book Omega written by Camille Flammarion and published by Standard Ebooks. This book was released on 2018-09-10T20:12:50Z with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Born in 1842, Camille Flammarion was a French astronomer who wrote many popular books about science and astronomy, together with a number of novels which we would now consider to be science fiction. He was a contemporary of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, though his works never achieved their level of popularity. Omega: The Last Days of the World is an English translation of Flammarion’s novel La Fin du Monde, published in 1893. The book’s fictional premise is the discovery of a comet on a collision course with the Earth in the 25th century. However, this is mostly a pretext on which Flammarion can hang his interesting scientific speculations about how the world will end, together with philosophical thoughts about war and religion. Much of the scientific description he uses in the book, while accurately representing the knowledge and thinking of his time, has today been superseded by modern discoveries. For example, we now know the source of the Sun’s energy to be nuclear fusion rather than being due to gravitational contraction and the constant infall of meteorites. When talking about the ills of society, however, Flammarion could well be talking about today’s world. For example, he excoriates the vast waste of society’s resources on war, and demonstrates how much more productive each nation’s economy would be without it. He also depicts the media of his future world as having been entirely taken over by commercial interests, publishing only what will excite the greatest number of readers rather than serving the public interest. Omega ranges over a vast period of time, from prehistory through to millions of years in the future when mankind has been reduced to the last two doomed individuals. Nevertheless, the book ends on a hopeful and inspiring note. This book is part of the Standard Ebooks project, which produces free public domain ebooks.

Book The Omega Principle

Download or read book The Omega Principle written by Paul Greenberg and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2018-07-10 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By the bestselling author of Four Fish and American Catch, an eye-opening investigation of the history, science, and business behind omega-3 fatty acids, the "miracle compound" whose story is intertwined with human health and the future of our planet Omega-3 fatty acids have long been celebrated by doctors and dieticians as key to a healthy heart and a sharper brain. In the last few decades, that promise has been encapsulated in one of America's most popular dietary supplements. Omega-3s are today a multi-billion dollar business, and sales are still growing apace--even as recent medical studies caution that the promise of omega-3s may not be what it first appeared. But a closer look at the omega-3 sensation reveals something much deeper and more troubling. The miracle pill is only the latest product of the reduction industry, a vast, global endeavor that over the last century has boiled down trillions of pounds of marine life into animal feed, fertilizer, margarine, and dietary supplements. The creatures that are the victims of that industry seem insignificant to the untrained eye, but turn out to be essential to the survival of whales, penguins, and fish of all kinds, including many that we love to eat. Behind these tiny molecules is a big story: of the push-and-pull of science and business; of the fate of our oceans in a human-dominated age; of the explosion of land food at the expense of healthier and more sustainable seafood; of the human quest for health and long life at all costs. James Beard Award-winning author Paul Greenberg probes the rich and surprising history of omega-3s--from the dawn of complex life, when these compounds were first formed; to human prehistory, when the discovery of seafood may have produced major cognitive leaps for our species; and on to the modern era, when omega-3s may point the way to a bold new direction for our food system. With wit and boundless curiosity, Greenberg brings us along on his travels--from Peru to Antarctica, from the Canary Islands to the Amalfi Coast--to reveal firsthand the practice and repercussions of our unbalanced way of eating. Rigorously reported and winningly told, The Omega Principle is a powerful argument for a more deliberate and forward-thinking relationship to the food we eat and the oceans that sustain us.
