Download or read book Teaching an Ostrich to Fly written by Shannon Belonie and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2008-10 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is one of a series of books about an ostrich, named Ollie, who is adopted by a family of bluebirds. Beyond that, it is a set of stories inspired by the life of my brother who is also adopted. Where the stories may be perceived as a view of adoption or accepting our differences, I find they are more like lessons of love. In this story we find Mommy Bluebird trying to teach Ollie Ostrich how to fly. This would be natural for a mommy bluebird to do but flying is something that an ostrich can not do. There are times in our lives we encounter obstacles we just do not have the ability to overcome but this does not lower the value of who we are. Mrs. Bluebird teaches Ollie the far better lesson that he is loved whether he can fly or not. Ollie then teaches Mrs. Bluebird that, although he can't fly, he can succeed in other ways.

Download or read book The Complete Book of 1900s Broadway Musicals written by Dan Dietz and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2022-07-15 with total page 663 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Broadway musicals of the 1900s saw the emergence of George M. Cohan and his quintessentially American musical comedies which featured contemporary American stories, ragtime-flavored songs, and a tongue-in-cheek approach to musical comedy conventions. But when the Austrian import The Merry Widow opened in 1907, waltz-driven operettas became all the rage. In The Complete Book of 1900s Broadway Musicals, Dan Dietz surveys every single book musical that opened during the decade. Each musical has its own entry which features the following: Plot summary Cast members Creative team Song lists Opening and closing dates Number of performances Critical commentary Film adaptations, recordings, and published scripts, when applicable Numerous appendixes include a chronology of book musicals by season; chronology of revues; chronology of revivals of Gilbert and Sullivan operettas; a selected discography; filmography; published scripts; Black musicals; long and short runs; and musicals based on comic strips. The most comprehensive reference work on Broadway musicals of the 1900s, this book is an invaluable and significant resource for all scholars, historians, and fans of Broadway musicals.

Download or read book Inter View written by Mickey Pearlman and published by University Press of Kentucky. This book was released on 2021-10-21 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Twenty-eight powerful and individual voices are heard as Pearlman and Henderson offer a forum for a generous cross-section of the women writing fiction in America today—writers whose vital statistics cross the borders of race, religion, ethnic origin, sexual preference, marital status, age, geography, and lifestyle. Each writer is presented in an essay/interview reflecting the dynamic that develops naturally when two vital minds meet to discuss topic of mutually interest. The writers talk about the role of memory, space, and family in their work, about politics, dreams, and race, about their mothers and children and alma maters, about book reviewing and their agents, editors, and publishers, and about each others' work. A bibliography of principal works follows each essay. A valuable contribution to writers both female and male, for above all else, this is a book about writing.
