Book Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth

Download or read book Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth written by C. L. Chapman and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2010-10-28 with total page 275 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Bible is the word of God. In Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth, author C.L. Chapman helps Christians understand and embrace the life messages and lessons contained in the Bible. Delivering timely information, this guide is divided into two books. The first book, On Defense, discusses how to discern the difference between sound Biblical information and erroneous misinformation. It illustrates both the errors and the intended misinformation about the Bible and its contents and demonstrates how to deal with both the misinformation and those who spread it. The second book, Reaching Forth, explains how to glean the basic information needed to grow, mature, and profit spiritually from the Bible and its message in order to become both victorious and fruitful in the Lord. Chapman teaches that the Bible does not need decoding; it only needs to be understood and its message embraced. It is the word of God that produces life, health, peace, victory, prosperity, deliverance, and abundant blessings for believers even in these tumultuous end-times.

Book One Word of Truth Outweighs the Whole World

Download or read book One Word of Truth Outweighs the Whole World written by Carl Wells and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2024-01-22 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn told us, decades ago, that one word of truth outweighs the whole world, he was quoting from a Russian proverb. According to the proverb (and to Solzhenitsyn), that would mean that truth is extremely weighty and important. The Bible seems to agree, because the Bible stresses over and over the loveliness of truth—and the ugliness of falsehood. One Word of Truth Outweighs the Whole World, by Carl Wells, examines what it will mean for us, in practical terms, if we begin to have a high respect for truth. Caring about the truth may be easier said than done!

Download or read book The Word As Truth written by Alan Fairweather and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2009-06-01 with total page 163 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This essay offers a critical appreciation and comparison of the theological and philosophical position of Karl Barth and St. Thomas Aquinas. Mr. Fairweather's thesis is the essential mediacy of God's self-presentation to men. He maintains, as against Aquinas, that human finitude does not preclude acquaintance with the divine nature; and as against Barth, that man through grace is truly capax verbi Domini. In his comparison the scales are weighted heavily against Barth. He maintains that Barth's presuppositions (e.g., the radical discontinuity of the human and the divine), arise from a Manichaean rather than from a Christian source; and that, carried to the extremes to which Barth is prepared at times to carry them, they rob the Bible of all value for revelation; the Incarnation and the Cross of all value for human life; and the idea of revelation itself of any kinship with the idea of Truth. At the same time, while pointing out the extravagances, dangers and interior contradictions of the Barthian position, Mr. Fairweather recognizes the corrective value of his absolutist theology, and concludes that the Thomist position as regards revelation, though it is the more soundly based of the two, needs to be supplemented by the Barthian emphasis on the real presence of God in His Word.

Book Truth and Words

  • Author : Gary Ebbs
  • Publisher : OUP Oxford
  • Release : 2011-04-14

  • Pages : 353 pages

Download or read book Truth and Words written by Gary Ebbs and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2011-04-14 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To clarify and facilitate our inquiries we need to define a disquotational truth predicate that we are directly licensed to apply not only to our own sentences as we use them now, but also to other speakers' sentences and our own sentences as we used them in the past. The conventional wisdom is that there can be no such truth predicate. For it appears that the only instances of the disquotational pattern that we are directly licensed to accept are those that define 'is true' for our own sentences as we use them now. Gary Ebbs shows that this appearance is illusory. He constructs an account of words that licenses us to rely not only on formal (spelling-based) identifications of our own words, but also on our non-deliberative practical identifications of other speakers' words and of our own words as we used them in the past. To overturn the conventional wisdom about disquotational truth, Ebbs argues, we need only combine this account of words with our disquotational definitions of truth for sentences as we use them now. The result radically transforms our understanding of truth and related topics, including anti-individualism, self-knowledge, and the intersubjectivity of logic.

Book Correctly Handling the Word of Truth

Download or read book Correctly Handling the Word of Truth written by Mees te Velde and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2014-10-24 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How should the Word of God be interpreted and applied today? Does our modern culture affect how we read the Bible? Can certain passages be interpreted in different contexts and in different ways, all the while acknowledging that God speaks with a clear and consistent voice? These are the enduring challenges of hermeneutics. In this volume, no less than sixteen Reformed scholars from four different countries join together to tackle the hard questions that often arise when we busy ourselves with the weighty responsibility of interpreting Holy Scripture. As iron sharpens iron, so also these Reformed scholars challenge each other and their readers to ask not only how hermeneutics can be done, but ultimately, how it should be done so that God's Word of Truth may be handled correctly (2 Tim 2:15).

Book Facts Words and Beliefs

Download or read book Facts Words and Beliefs written by Timothy L.S. Sprigge and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2022-04-29 with total page 267 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1970, Facts, Words and Beliefs is concerned primarily with formulating the following question and suggesting the right way of answering it- how can a few stray images or muttered words running through our mind constitute our envisagement of situation perhaps remote in time and place from our present position? From a practical point of view the moments when we envisage the nature of some situation which we believe to exist may not be of any great importance. It would seem that our belief in the existence of such situations lies in some sort of adjustment of our behaviour to them which will be useful if the situations really exist, from the point of view of survival and comfort. The author suggests that these moments of conscious envisagement of such absent situations may be rather a sign of such successful adjustment than a factor in bringing it about, hence of no practical value in themselves. However, if knowledge has any sort of intrinsic value, it must surely lie in those moments when one does consciously envisage some aspects of the world more or less as it really is, and to try to understand the nature of these moments is to try to understand all that is of intrinsic value in knowledge. This book is a must read for scholars and researchers of philosophy.

What did God plan for man? Is the new birth the beginning or the ending of man's salvation? Is Gods plan just to take man to heaven? Is the end of mans kingdom near? What country will the beast come from? Find the answers to these questions and many more in Gods Revealed Word of Truth.

The ironic result is that although Barth wrote chiefly for preachers, scholars have become the primary gatekeepers to his rich theological thought. This collection of essays introduces Karl Barth with both clarity and depth, providing pastors and other serious readers with a valuable overview of Barth's views on Scripture. George Hunsinger -- himself a recognized expert on Barth -- and eight other scholars cover such topics as Barth 's belief that Scripture is both reliable and inspired, his typological exegesis, his ideas about time and eternity, and more. Reading this book will whet the reader 's appetite to engage further with Barth himself.

Book IS THE QURAN THE WORD OF GOD

Download or read book IS THE QURAN THE WORD OF GOD written by Edward D. Andrews and published by Christian Publishing House. This book was released on 2017-06-27 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: IS THE QURAN THE WORD OF GOD? Is Islam the One True Faith? This book covers the worldview, practices, and history of Islam and the Quran. This book is designed as an apologetic evangelistic tool for Christians, as they come across Muslims in their daily lives, as well as to inform them, as a protection again the misleading media. The non-Muslims need to hear these truths about Islam and the Quran so they can have an accurate understanding of the Muslim mindset that leads to their actions. Islam is the second largest religion in the world. Radical Islam has taken the world by storm, and the “fake media” has genuinely misled their audience for the sake of political correctness. This book is not a dogmatic attack on Islam and the Quran but rather an uncovering of the lies and describing of the truths. The reader will be introduced to the most helpful way of viewing the evidence objectively. We will answer the question of whether the Quran is a literary miracle, as well as is there evidence that the Quran is inspired by God, along with is the Quran harmonious and consistent, and is the Quran from God or man? We will also examine Islamic teachings, discuss the need to search for the truth, as well as identify the book of truth. We will look at how Islam views the Bible. Finally, we will take up the subjects of Shariah Law, the rise of radical Islam, Islamic eschatology, and how to effectively witness to Muslims.
