This book was released on 2015-06-12 with total page 341 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Of the Doctrine of Morality in Its Relation to the Grace of Redemption The following lectures have been read to classes in Moral Philosophy. They were intended to show the relation of a system of morality, such as moral science deduces from the nature of man, to the redemption by the Son of God, and to the grace which comes from that redemption. We seem to be somewhat disturbed by the Buddhist and other systems of morality, as if they demanded concessions which were not loyal to Christianity. On the contrary, it is attempted to be shown that this morality is what we should expect from the nature of man. The Church is the minister of grace. Buddhist and all other natural morality requires the ministration of the Church, the light and the grace which the Saviour of the world sends through her, in order that that moral life may be developed, and that it may characterize man in all his daily relations. Book Counted Righteous in Christ

Download or read book Counted Righteous in Christ written by John Piper and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2002-11-15 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Are Christians merely forgiven, or do they possess the righteousness of Christ? Recently the time-honored understanding of the doctrine of justification has come under attack. Many question how-or if-we receive the full righteousness of Christ. Martin Luther said that if we understand justification "we are in the clearest light; if we do not know it, we dwell in the densest darkness." And now, in this new and important book, John Piper accepts Luther's challenge. He points out that we need to see ourselves as having been recipients of the imputation of Christ's righteousness and therefore enjoy full acceptance with God and the everlasting inheritance of life and joy. Piper writes as both a pastor and a scholar. His pastor's heart is shown in his zeal for the welfare of the church. His careful scholarship is evident in each explanation and undergirds each conclusion.

Download or read book Church Planting in the Secular West written by Paas and published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing. This book was released on 2016 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An expert study of church planting in the most secular part of contemporary Europe In this book Stefan Paas offers thoughtful analysis of reasons and motives for missionary church planting in Europe, and he explores successful and unsuccessful strategies in that post-Christian secularized context. Drawing in part on his own involvement with planting two churches in the Netherlands, Paas explores confessional motives, growth motives, and innovation motives for church planting in Europe, tracing them back to different traditions and reflecting on them from theological and empirical perspectives. He presents examples from the European context and offers sound advice for improving existing missional practices. Paas also draws out lessons for North America in a chapter coauthored with Darrell Guder and John Franke. Finally, Paas weaves together the various threads in the book with a theological defense of church planting. Presenting new research as it does, this critical missiological perspective will add significantly to a fuller understanding of church planting in our contemporary context.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The God of Christian faith is, according to Peter Taylor Forsyth, a God of holy, righteous love. As a result, God's intervention in human life is morally robust, being in search of the transformation of its recipients toward holy love. Its high point is in the cross of Jesus Christ. This book contains twenty of Forsyth's essays that clarify the nature and manifestation of God's holy love. Forsyth contends that God is an active personal agent who desires interpersonal fellowship with humans, under the authority of divine holy love. He attends to the experience of God in moral conscience, where one can experience forgiveness and redemption by God. He challenges readers to consider whether their experience includes an encounter with a God who manifests holy love.

Are you desiring a meaningful relationship with the Lord rather than a checklist of rules? This book is for you. "Being a Christian is not about being perfect. In fact, we can never live up to the letter of the law. It is only when we let go of our constant striving for perfection that we encounter true perfection." Derek Prince In this book, Spellman discuss how there are multitudes of Christians who think it's okay to habitually sin, because God's grace is accessible in the person of Christ Jesus. According to the Bible, the Lord has set boundaries to help us walk in the light. Romans 6:1,6 says "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound. Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?" There are many profound books written on the subject of grace, Spellman is prayerful this book will reaffirm the richness and beauty of grace. God's grace is absolutely magnificent, no amount of pages, pamphlets, books, lectures, songs or messages can do justice or express the wealth and depth of His unmerited favor. With a focus on winning souls for the kingdom of God, Apostle Donald Spellman ministers healing and restoration-spiritually, physically, and emotionally-to the body of Christ. A pastor with military and civil service, together with his wife and co-founder of Living Word of Grace Ministries, they lead an apostolic ministry team and host a regular radio broadcast. www.lwogministries.org

Book Introducing Radical Orthodoxy

Download or read book Introducing Radical Orthodoxy written by James K. A. Smith and published by Baker Academic. This book was released on 2004-12-01 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although God is making a comeback in our society, popular culture still takes its orders from the Enlightenment, a movement that denied faith a prominent role in society. Today, many are questioning this elevation of reason over faith. How should Christians respond to a secular world that continues to push faith to the margins? While there is still no consensus concerning what a postmodern society should look like, James K. A. Smith suggests that the answer is a reaffirmation of the belief that Jesus is Lord over all. Smith traces the trends and directions of Radical Orthodoxy, proposing that it can provide an old-but-new theology for a new generation of Christians. This book will challenge and encourage pastors and thoughtful laypeople interested in learning more about currents in contemporary theology.
