Book Of Gods Mythical Creatures and Mynahs

Download or read book Of Gods Mythical Creatures and Mynahs written by Uresh and published by The Inspiration Hub. This book was released on 2015-02-01 with total page 97 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book consists of a collection of 3 plays. The first play features a gathering of Chinese deities at the court of the Heavenly Emperor on Chinese New Year day. The gods got themselves into a “serious” discussion to try to solve some of the problems that plagued humans on earth. The second play makes a revisitation of the “Red Hill story” and tells a tale involving Merlions and how the “Red Hill boy” comes back in the modern setting. The last play highlights the nature of bird communication through their ordinary business of daily living such as in getting their meals or in how they have to make “special” calls or passwords in identifying with the others. Sandy is interested in heritage matters and is an animal lover. Uresh and Ted are enthusiasts of science fiction, mythology and alternate history. The trio hopes all those who read the plays will discover something between the old and contemporary, the mythical and factual as well as what is usually understood as the norm versus the peculiar.

Enter a world where gods and goddesses mingle with the humans that worship them in elaborate temples, where heroes fight epic battles and monsters are thwarted, where legendary tales are told with an eye toward eternal glory: The treasure that is Greek mythology is an undeniable pleasure to read. Explore another world of ancient values, virtues, and vices--never to be forgotten. The Greeks developed a highly sophisticated government and developed both the Western epic and the philosophical tradition; their influence is undeniable still yet today. We can see the Greek evolution from their legendary founding, to their epic expansion, to their continued presence in our popular imagination through the thread of their treasure trove of myths and tales. This book can take you through that journey, beginning with an overview of the Greek peoples and cultures, and into an understanding of their pantheon of gods and goddesses, their amazing tales of adventure, restless search for meaning, and a glimpse into who they actually were via the stories they held dear. Some specific elements you will encounter include: Some of the main gods of the Greco-Roman pantheon, with all their quirks and foibles The Greek Council of Twelve Gods and their all-too-human role in the peoples they oversee The first epic tales that have defined Western literary culture for thousands of years The multiple myths surrounding the gods, their heroes, and their foes The unique philosophy and government of ancient Greece, which created the foundation for all of the Western civilization From the Minotaur to Medusa to the Cyclops--fascinating creatures fueling mythological tales Stories about some of the most legendary figures in mythological history: Theseus and Perseus Contemporary visions of Greek characters and how they inform our Western institutions, our literary and artistic history, and our contemporary culture Greek mythology is diverse and fascinating, offering us an insight into how ancient people believed and lived, into what they valued and vilified, and into how they lived and thrived. Finally, if you have enjoyed these treasured tales of Greek mythology, don't forget to explore the other fantastic realms of mythological magic in this series of books: Treasures of Egyptian Mythology, Treasures of Celtic Mythology, Treasures of Norse Mythology, and Treasures of Roman Mythology. You will find yourself in awe of the sweeping scope of history and culture represented by these mythological traditions--as well as get a better understanding of how we continually make and re-make these myths for our own times. Book Animal Life In Nature Myth and Dreams

Download or read book Animal Life In Nature Myth and Dreams written by Elizabeth Caspari and published by Chiron Publications. This book was released on 2003-09-01 with total page 588 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Animal Life in Nature, Myth and Dreams, Elizabeth Caspari connects the world of real, living animals with the symbolic world of animal images in human thought, both conscious and unconscious. She gives the reader an opportunity to make this connection on his or her own personal journey of discovery. This book is a study of animals-their natural history, mythology, folklore, and religious significance around the world as well as their role in our lives, dreams, and everyday language. It examines the symbolic impact animals have on our collective culture, particularly on our own personal and interior lives. From Albatross to Zebra, each animal is pictured in color and factual context is given about its behavior in the natural world. Information is included about habitat, distribution, weight, size, longevity, and classification. By drawing on a process of amplification developed by C.G. Jung, in which an image is related to a previous historical, mythological, religious, or ethnological context, Animal Life in Nature, Myth and Dreams discusses the meaning of the animal in a dream, amplifying the reader's understanding of that animal. Intended for anyone interested in the actual behavior and nature of animals and the world we live in, Animal Life presents a good deal of ethological and mythological material. By contemplating the significance of our fellow creatures, and how everything in our universe is connected, Animal Life offers a more whole, and more healing, view of the world. Fully illustrated in color.
