Book Occurrence of MTBE and VOCS in Drinking Water Sources of the United States

Download or read book Occurrence of MTBE and VOCS in Drinking Water Sources of the United States written by B. Koch and published by IWA Publishing (International Water Assoc). This book was released on 2005-06-01 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The goal of this project was to review available literature and collect, in two stages, new data on methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) in drinking water sources from community water systems (CWSs) in the United States. The two stage collection of new data was designed to provide representative information on teh frequency of detection, concentration, temporal variability, and distribution of MTBE and other gasoline oxygenates, MTBE degradation products, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in untreated groundwater and surface water sources of drinking water.

Book Contaminated Water Supplies at Camp Lejeune

Download or read book Contaminated Water Supplies at Camp Lejeune written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2009-09-06 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the early 1980s, two water-supply systems on the Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in North Carolina were found to be contaminated with the industrial solvents trichloroethylene (TCE) and perchloroethylene (PCE). The water systems were supplied by the Tarawa Terrace and Hadnot Point watertreatment plants, which served enlisted-family housing, barracks for unmarried service personnel, base administrative offices, schools, and recreational areas. The Hadnot Point water system also served the base hospital and an industrial area and supplied water to housing on the Holcomb Boulevard water system (full-time until 1972 and periodically thereafter). This book examines what is known about the contamination of the water supplies at Camp Lejeune and whether the contamination can be linked to any adverse health outcomes in former residents and workers at the base.

Book The Ground Water Supply Survey

Download or read book The Ground Water Supply Survey written by James J. Westrick and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "In response to the increasing nationwide concern over contamination of ground water supplies by volatile organic chemicals (VOCs), the Office of Drinking Water (ODW) of the Environmental Protection Agency is considering possible regulatory options for limiting VOCs in drinking water. In order to strengthen to the VOC occurrence data base and to encourage state involvement in the VOC problem, ODW conducted a sampling and analysis program on finished water from 945 water supplies which use underground sources."--Executive summary (page i).
