Book Observations Modeling and Systems Analysis in Geomagnetic Data Interpretation

Download or read book Observations Modeling and Systems Analysis in Geomagnetic Data Interpretation written by Alexei Gvishiani and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-09-17 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Geomagnetic field penetrates through all shells of the solid Earth, hydrosphere and atmosphere, spreading into space. The Earth Magnetic Field plays a key-role in major natural processes. Geomagnetic field variations in time and space provide important information about the state of the solid Earth, as well as the solar-terrestrial relationships and space weather conditions. The monograph presents a set of fundamental and, at the same time, urgent scientific problems of modern geomagnetic studies, as well as describes the results of the authors’ developments. The new technique introduced in the book can be applied far beyond the limits of Earth sciences. Requirements to corresponding data models are formulated. The conducted experimental investigations are combined with development and implementation of new methods of mathematical modeling, artificial intelligence, systems analysis and data science to solve the fundamental problems of geomagnetism. At that, formalism of Big Data and its application to Earth Sciences is presented as essential part of systems analysis. The book is intended for research scientists, tutors, students, postgraduate students and engineers working in geomagnetism and Earth sciences in general, as well as in other relevant scientific disciplines.

Book Geomagnetic Observations and Models

Download or read book Geomagnetic Observations and Models written by M. Mandea and published by Springer. This book was released on 2011-09-25 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume provides comprehensive and authoritative coverage of all the main areas linked to geomagnetic field observation, from instrumentation to methodology, on ground or near-Earth. Efforts are also focused on a 21st century e-Science approach to open access to all geomagnetic data, but also to the data preservation, data discovery, data rescue, and capacity building. Finally, modeling magnetic fields with different internal origins, with their variation in space and time, is an attempt to draw together into one place the traditional work in producing models as IGRF or describing the magnetic anomalies.

Book Ionospheric Multi Spacecraft Analysis Tools

Download or read book Ionospheric Multi Spacecraft Analysis Tools written by Malcolm Wray Dunlop and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-10-29 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This open access book provides a comprehensive toolbox of analysis techniques for ionospheric multi-satellite missions. The immediate need for this volume was motivated by the ongoing ESA Swarm satellite mission, but the tools that are described are general and can be used for any future ionospheric multi-satellite mission with comparable instrumentation. In addition to researching the immediate plasma environment and its coupling to other regions, such a mission aims to study the Earth’s main magnetic field and its anomalies caused by core, mantle, or crustal sources. The parameters for carrying out this kind of work are examined in these chapters. Besides currents, electric fields, and plasma convection, these parameters include ionospheric conductance, Joule heating, neutral gas densities, and neutral winds.

  • Pages : 641 pages

Download or read book Earth Observation with CHAMP written by Christoph Reigber and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-12-27 with total page 641 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the summer of 2000 the German geo-research satellite CHAMP was launched into orbit. Its innovative payload arrangement and the low initial orbit allow CHAMP to simultaneously collect and almost continuously analyse precise data relating to gravity and magnetic fields at low altitude. In addition, CHAMP also measures the neutral atmosphere and ionosphere using GPS techniques. Three years after launch, more than 200 CHAMP investigators and co-investigators from all over the world met at the GeoForschungsZentrum in Potsdam to present and discuss the results derived from the extensive data sets of the mission. The main outcome of this expert meeting is summarized in this volume. The book offers a comprehensive insight into the present status of the exploitation of CHAMP data for Earth system research and practical applications in geodesy, geophysics and meteorology.

Book Gravity and Magnetic Exploration

Download or read book Gravity and Magnetic Exploration written by William J. Hinze and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This combination of textbook and reference manual provides a comprehensive account of gravity and magnetic methods for exploring the subsurface using surface, marine, airborne and satellite measurements. It describes key current topics and techniques, physical properties of rocks and other earth materials, and digital data analysis methods used to process and interpret anomalies for subsurface information. Each chapter starts with an overview and concludes by listing key concepts to consolidate new learning. An accompanying website presents problem sets and interactive computer-based exercises, providing hands-on experience of processing, modeling and interpreting data. A comprehensive online suite of full-color case histories illustrates the practical utility of modern gravity and magnetic surveys. This is an ideal text for advanced undergraduate and graduate courses and reference text for research academics and professional geophysicists. It is a valuable resource for all those interested in petroleum, engineering, mineral, environmental, geological and archeological exploration of the lithosphere.

Book Magnetospheric Current Systems

Download or read book Magnetospheric Current Systems written by Shin-ichi Ohtani and published by American Geophysical Union. This book was released on 2000-01-10 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Published by the American Geophysical Union as part of the Geophysical Monograph Series, Volume 118. The magnetosphere is an open system that interacts with the solar wind. In this system, solar wind energy continuously permeates different regions of the magnetosphere through electromagnetic processes, which we can well describe in terms of current systems. In fact, our ability to use various methods to study magnetospheric current systems has recently prompted significant progress in our understanding of the phenomenon. Unprecedented coverage of satellite and ground?]based observations has advanced global approaches to magnetospheric current systems, whereas advanced measurements of electromagnetic fields and particles have brought new insights about micro?]processes. Increased computer capabilities have enabled us to simulate the dynamics not only of the terrestrial magnetosphere but also the magnetospheres of other planets. Based on such developments, the present volume revisits outstanding issues about magnetospheric current systems.

Book excerpt: Archaeological Prospection is a fascinating discipline using High-Tech instrumentation for the non-destructive localisation and documentation of archaeological sites and monuments. The book of abstracts of the fourth international conference on Archaeological Prospection held in Vienna in 2001 provides an overview over state of the art methodology, techniques and applications from all over the world. Satellite imagery, airborne remote sensing and aerial archaeology as well as geophysical prospecting (magnetics, resistivity survey, ground penetrating radar etc.) help the archaeologist to monitor and search whole landscapes, to detect new sites and to map their inner details with high accuracy. The prospection data is used for visualisations of our archaeological heritage buried in the ground. New spectacular prospection results including recently detected Chinese imperial palace sites, new insights into the surroundings of Egyptian pyramids and towns, Roman towns and villas and mysterious circular ditch systems from the Neolithic are reported by the worlds leading prospecting archaeologists and geophysicists.
