Book Observation of the Radiative Decay J

Download or read book Observation of the Radiative Decay J written by and published by . This book was released on 1987 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The MARK III Collaboration has studied the OZI violating radiative decay J/psi .-->. .gamma. phi .omega., in order to complete the set of measured J/psi .-->. .gamma. vector vector decays. This channel is then used to search for a new decay mode of the xi(2330) and to study the eta/sub c/ decay mechanism. The phi .omega. mass spectrum does not show any significant structure; upper limits for the excitation of the xi and eta/sub c/ particles are obtained. 11 refs., 3 figs.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a study of ?'(3684) radiative decays with the Mark II detector at SPEAR, we observe the decay sequence ?' → ??{sub c}(2980), with the ?{sub c}(2980) decaying into several completely reconstructed hadronic modes. We obtain a mass M = 2980 ± 8 MeV / c2 and a width ?

Book OBSERVATION OF THE RADIATIVE DECAY D D GAMMA

Download or read book OBSERVATION OF THE RADIATIVE DECAY D D GAMMA written by and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We have observed a signal for the decay D* 2!D+? at a significance of 4 standard deviations. From the measured branching ratio?(D*+ 2!D+?)/?(D*+ 2!D+?°) = 0.055 ± 0.014 ± 0.010 we find?(D*+ 2!D+?) = 0.017 ± 0.004 ± 0.003, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. We also report the highest precision measurements of the remaining D*+ branching fractions.

Book The Theory of Photons and Electrons

Download or read book The Theory of Photons and Electrons written by Josef M. Jauch and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 569 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the discovery of the corpuscular nature of radiation by Planck more than fifty years ago the quantum theory of radiation has gone through many stages of development which seemed to alternate between spectacular success and hopeless frustration. The most recent phase started in 1947 with the discovery of the electromagnetic level shifts and the realization that the exist ing theory, when properly interpreted, was perfectly adequate to explain these effects to an apparently unlimited degree of accuracy. This phase has now reached a certain conclusion: for the first time in the checkered history of this field of research it has become possible to give a unified and consistent presen tation of radiation theory in full conformity with the principles of relativity and quantum mechanics. To this task the present book is devoted. The plan for a book of this type was conceived during the year 1951 while the first-named author (J. M. J. ) held a Fulbright research scholarship at Cambridge University. During this year of freedom from teaching and other duties he had the opportunity of conferring with physicists in many different countries on the recent developments in radiation theory. The comments seemed to be almost unanimous that a book on quantum electrodynamics at the present time would be of inestimable value to physicists in many parts of the world. However, it was not until the spring of 1952 that work on the book began in earnest.

Book Study of the Radiative Decay J

Download or read book Study of the Radiative Decay J written by and published by . This book was released on 1987 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Mark III collaboration has performed a high statistics study of the reaction J/psi .-->. .gamma.eta.pi./sup +/.pi.−, with two different final states of the eta, eta .-->. .gamma gamma. and eta .-->. .pi.°.pi./sup +/.pi.−. Both modes have a broad structure from 1.2 to 1.9 GeV/c2 and two structures, which decay via delta/sup + -/.pi./sup - +/, delta/sup + -/ .-->. eta.pi./sup + -/, are identified at 1.28 and 1.39 GeV/c2. No signal is observed in the iota(1440) signal region.

Book Radiative Processes in Astrophysics

Download or read book Radiative Processes in Astrophysics written by George B. Rybicki and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-09-26 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Radiative Processes in Astrophysics: This clear, straightforward, and fundamental introduction is designed to present-from a physicist's point of view-radiation processes and their applications to astrophysical phenomena and space science. It covers such topics as radiative transfer theory, relativistic covariance and kinematics, bremsstrahlung radiation, synchrotron radiation, Compton scattering, some plasma effects, and radiative transitions in atoms. Discussion begins with first principles, physically motivating and deriving all results rather than merely presenting finished formulae. However, a reasonably good physics background (introductory quantum mechanics, intermediate electromagnetic theory, special relativity, and some statistical mechanics) is required. Much of this prerequisite material is provided by brief reviews, making the book a self-contained reference for workers in the field as well as the ideal text for senior or first-year graduate students of astronomy, astrophysics, and related physics courses. Radiative Processes in Astrophysics also contains about 75 problems, with solutions, illustrating applications of the material and methods for calculating results. This important and integral section emphasizes physical intuition by presenting important results that are used throughout the main text; it is here that most of the practical astrophysical applications become apparent.

Book Super radiance

Download or read book Super radiance written by M.G Benedict and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1996-01-01 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Super-radiance: Multiatomic Coherent Emission provides a comprehensive, self-contained account of the theory and experiments of the quantum optic phenomenon of superradiance. Contributed by highly regarded researchers in the field, the book first presents the theory of superradiance at a level suitable for graduate physicists approaching the subject for the first time. This introduction is followed by a more rigorous treatment that is supported by the analysis of experiments dealing with superradiance and by a discussion on the possible uses of the effect in other areas of optics and electronics. The theoretical and experimental results presented in this book will introduce a wide audience to this important area of quantum optics.
