Book excerpt: ste livro é baseado em uma Tese de doutorado em administração e tem como tema o estudo do planejamento estratégico em micro e pequenas empresas. Para tanto, o objetivo geral foi definido a identificar como o planejamento estratégico pode ter influência para o desempenho financeiro das pequenas e microempresas. O atendimento a esse objetivo foi realizado mediante pesquisa teórica realizada sobre o tema, bem como a estruturação de uma pesquisa de levantamento com as empresas do Município de Garibaldi-RS, seguida de uma análise quantitativa por meio de regressão múltipla e análise fatorial exploratória. Dessa forma, o estudo gerou resultados que permitiram medir quais as variáveis impactam positiva e negativamente no planejamento estratégico das micro e pequenas empresas, bem como quais os fatores que podem levar ao sucesso do Pequenas Empresas nesse tipo de organização. Os fatores identificados foram desempenho, mercado e pessoas. Como estudos futuros, esta tese recomenda que sejam realizados estudos regionais ou estaduais, a fim de definir políticas públicas nessa temática, bem como a criação de um produto tecnológico para diagnóstico das organizações.
