Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: Evidence suggests that attitudes of health professionals toward people with disabilities (PWD) may influence their seeking healthcare. Quality of care may be driven by attitudes of health professionals; thus, strategies aimed at improving attitudes might improve patient care. The aim of this pilot study was to assess the effectiveness of an online video, Access to Medical Care--Adults With Physical Disabilities, in improving attitudes of nursing students toward PWD. A convenience sample of students in a senior-level nursing course participated in this project. The Interaction with Disabled Persons Scale was given to students pre- and postvideo. Findings suggested that the video had a positive impact on nursing students' attitudes and perceptions regarding PWD. A positive and nonjudgmental attitude should prepare nursing students to care for PWD and influence the likelihood of disabled persons seeking primary care.
