Book A Fisherman s Guide to Selected Lakes of South Central Washington

Download or read book A Fisherman s Guide to Selected Lakes of South Central Washington written by John E. Moore and published by Dog Ear Publishing. This book was released on 2008-05 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most fishing guides offer very limited information on a large number of lakes, most of which their authors have never been near. This book provides detailed information on the lake and surrounding area, as well as directions and fishing tips. All lakes included in this book have been personally visited, photographed, and in most cases fished by the author. The emphasis is on the fisherman's perspective, but detailed trail and camping information is provided where applicable. Even those who only wish to hike and camp will find something for them. The lakes selected for inclusion in this book are from Grant, Kittitas and Adams counties of south central Washington. Most are desert lakes, but mountain lakes in Kittitas County are also included. The Adams County lakes are only in the western "Seep Lakes" area. Many, including desert lakes, require a hike. Some can be driven to. The author is a ten-time Washington State record holder, with certified weight records for five different species of fish. Catch data for several hundred lakes, dating back to 1981, has been provided to Washington State fish biologists. Born and raised in northwest Washington and part of a very outdoor oriented family, the author has spent his entire life exploring new places and looking for new waters to fish. Other titles published include "High Lakes of Northwest Washington," "Lakes of North Central Washington," and "Lakes of Northeast Washington and Northern Idaho."

There has never been a thorough statewide guide written specifically for flyfishing in Washington. Much like Oregon, this state combines a high population of flyfishers with a host of prime flyfishing water. With steelhead and salmon runs, trophy trout in lakes and rivers throughout the state, and the occasional smallmouth and largemouth bass thrown in, Washington has something to offer even the most discriminating angler. This guide will show you maps with access points, river mileage, campsites, and more, for each river system, along with detailed descriptions of rivers, tributaries and lakes, with hatch charts for each. Our format makes calling fly shops for up-to-the minute information or setting up motel reservations in a new area a snap.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: * Prime hiking for fall, winter, and spring * Organized by quick access from Spokane, the TriCities, Yakima-Ellensburg, and Wenatchee-Chelan * 100 hikes, from short half-day trips (1-5 miles) to overnighters If you're used to tight, tree-lined trails through (often-dripping) evergreens, it's time for a guidebook to an entirely different world: the high desert of central and eastern Washington. It's desert, yes -- but not the Lawrence of Arabia kind. This landscape of sagebrush and rimrock canyons is starkly beautiful and rich in plant and animal life. It offers mild temperatures in fall, prime wildlife viewing in winter, and an explosion of wildflowers in spring. Best Desert Hikes: Washington is a great way to extend your hiking through three-seasons -- a Hikes at a Glance chart in the front of the book lists best time to go for each trail. Some of these hikes follow designated trails; others guide you along the contours of the land for a more individual experience. There are tips on hiking in desert conditions, too.
