This book was released on 2018-07-09 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The pressure driven, fully-developed turbulent flow of an incompressible viscous fluid in curved ducts of square cross-section is studied numerically by making use of a finite volume method. A nonlinear Kappa - Iota model is used to represent the turbulence. The results for both straight and curved ducts are presented. For the case of fully-developed turbulent flow in straight ducts, the secondary flow is characterized by an eight-vortex structure for which the computed flowfield is shown to be in good agreement with available experimental data. The introduction of moderate curvature is shown to cause a substantial increase in the strength of the secondary flow and to change the secondary flow pattern to either a double-vortex or a four-vortex configuration. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the wake of energy crisis due to rapid growth of industries, urbanization, transportation, and human habit, the efficient transfer of heat could play a vital role in energy saving. Industries, household requirements, offices, transportation are all dependent on heat exchanging equipment. Considering these, the present book has incorporated different sections related to general aspects of heat transfer phenomena, convective heat transfer mode, boiling and condensation, heat transfer to two phase flow and heat transfer augmentation by different means.

Work is reported, which was sponsored by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft from 1993 to 1995. Scientists from numerical mathematics, fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, and turbomachinery present their work on flow simulation with massively parallel systems, on the direct and large-eddy simulation of turbulence, and on mathematical foundations, general solution techniques and applications. Results are reported from benchmark computations of laminar flow around a cylinder, in which seventeen groups participated.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first volume in the series. It analyzes several fundamental methodology issues in numerical heat transfer and fluid flow and identifies certain areas of active application. The finite-volume approach is presented with the finite-element methods as well as with energy balance analysis. Applications include the latest development in turbulence modeling and current approaches to inverse problems.

Download or read book A New Hypothesis on the Anisotropic Reynolds Stress Tensor for Turbulent Flows written by László Könözsy and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-12-01 with total page 517 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This self-contained, interdisciplinary book encompasses mathematics, physics, computer programming, analytical solutions and numerical modelling, industrial computational fluid dynamics (CFD), academic benchmark problems and engineering applications in conjunction with the research field of anisotropic turbulence. It focuses on theoretical approaches, computational examples and numerical simulations to demonstrate the strength of a new hypothesis and anisotropic turbulence modelling approach for academic benchmark problems and industrially relevant engineering applications. This book contains MATLAB codes, and C programming language based User-Defined Function (UDF) codes which can be compiled in the ANSYS-FLUENT environment. The computer codes help to understand and use efficiently a new concept which can also be implemented in any other software packages. The simulation results are compared to classical analytical solutions and experimental data taken from the literature. A particular attention is paid to how to obtain accurate results within a reasonable computational time for wide range of benchmark problems. The provided examples and programming techniques help graduate and postgraduate students, engineers and researchers to further develop their technical skills and knowledge.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: obtained are still severely limited to low Reynolds numbers (about only one decade better than direct numerical simulations), and the interpretation of such calculations for complex, curved geometries is still unclear. It is evident that a lot of work (and a very significant increase in available computing power) is required before such methods can be adopted in daily's engineering practice. I hope to l"Cport on all these topics in a near future. The book is divided into six chapters, each· chapter in subchapters, sections and subsections. The first part is introduced by Chapter 1 which summarizes the equations of fluid mechanies, it is developed in C~apters 2 to 4 devoted to the construction of turbulence models. What has been called "engineering methods" is considered in Chapter 2 where the Reynolds averaged equations al"C established and the closure problem studied (§1-3). A first detailed study of homogeneous turbulent flows follows (§4). It includes a review of available experimental data and their modeling. The eddy viscosity concept is analyzed in §5 with the l"Csulting ~alar-transport equation models such as the famous K-e model. Reynolds stl"Css models (Chapter 4) require a preliminary consideration of two-point turbulence concepts which are developed in Chapter 3 devoted to homogeneous turbulence. We review the two-point moments of velocity fields and their spectral transforms (§ 1), their general dynamics (§2) with the particular case of homogeneous, isotropie turbulence (§3) whel"C the so-called Kolmogorov's assumptions are discussed at length.
