Book Numerical Solution of Transport Theory Problems for Spheres and Cylinders

Download or read book Numerical Solution of Transport Theory Problems for Spheres and Cylinders written by Wallace Feurzeig and published by . This book was released on 1953 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A class of one-velocity neutron migration problems is presented in terms of an iterative numerical method. The method computes the flux at a discrete number of points in phase space, improving the estimate of flux by repeating integration of the Boltzmann equation; the integrations are performed with the aid of simple interpolation formulae.

Book Truncation Errors in Numerical Solutions of the Transport Equation

Download or read book Truncation Errors in Numerical Solutions of the Transport Equation written by John Henry Bennett and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 458 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The numerical solution is given of the transport equation for monoenergetic neutrons in a medium with isotropic scattering. The object is to determine the accuracy of the numerial methods generally used to solve the transport equation. The analyss is largely confined to the solution of the criticality problem for homogeneos slabs. A ritcality problem in X-Y geometry is also considered. The criterion of accurcy used is the difference between c, the number of secondary neutrons per collision required for criticality, and an approximation to c given by an N-parameter approximate method. Book Light Scattering Reviews Volume 11

Download or read book Light Scattering Reviews Volume 11 written by Alexander Kokhanovsky and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-05-12 with total page 522 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the eleventh volume in the series Light Scattering Reviews, devoted to current knowledge of light scattering problems and both experimental and theoretical research techniques related to their solution. The focus of this volume is to describe modern advances in radiative transfer and light scattering optics. This book brings together the most recent studies on light radiative transfer in the terrestrial atmosphere, while also reviewing environmental polarimetry. The book is divided into nine chapters: • the first four chapters review recent advances in modern radiative transfer theory and provide detailed descriptions of radiative transfer codes (e.g., DISORT and CRTM). Approximate solutions of integro-differential radiative transfer equations for turbid media with different shapes (spheres, cylinders, planeparallel layers) are detailed; • chapters 5 to 8 focus on studies of light scattering by single particles and radially inhomogeneous media; • the final chapter discusses the environmental polarimetry of man-made objects.
