Book excerpt: The zombie apocalypse never stood a chance—because it began in New Jersey. It has only been a couple of weeks since the events of Exit Zero, yet in the Garden State, life goes on as usual—except it’s with zombies. The state is still sealed off from the rest of the nation, but those trapped inside have learned to adapt and overcome. President Callahan and the Post Conflict Restoration Corp are firmly in charge at the new Cape May, New Jersey based White House. A new mutation has emerged targeting those that have survived infection of the Skell virus without reducing them to the whole flesh eating, brain melting, stomach transforming into a brain thing. The Virus Infected Non-Necrotic Individuals(VINNI’s) appear as if they are just a more physically fit version of you or me, but they are now biologically different and for unknown reasons are highly sought after by Post Conflict Restoration Corp . The remainder of the Sullivan brothers are trying to find their own way in this new world. The prepper Ivan and his assassin wife Marifi are on the run and Gary Ragu is taking action to head the Jersey mafia. Dr. Woody has found new allies in his efforts to right the wrongs caused by his Modified Embryonic Animal Tissue (M.E.A.T), but can he trust them? Welcome to Nuke Jersey, the future of America—and possibly the world.

In the second book, Nuke Jersey, the Garden State is sealed off as a giant quarantine zone in an attempt to contain the Skell virus. The newly sworn in President chooses to lead the fractured country from Cape May. New threats and mutations emerge as the Skell virus grows strong, but is it Jersey Strong? Zombie Democracy is the final book in the trilogy. The Skell virus has now spread nationwide, and the public has demanded an election be held between two rivals, the current President and his challenger, a smooth-tweeting cyber-terrorist. And who are the Virus Infected Non-Necrotic Individuals, or VINNI’s, and why are they both sought after and feared? There has never been an election season as crazy as Zombie Democracy.

Book Business Is Dead

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Pop culture is a very broad realm and approaching the subject of entrepreneurship within this area could be overwhelming. I really appreciate the way author Neil A. Cohen approached this subject. By choosing just one pop culture phenom to analyze, as he did with The Walking Dead, he provides a really well-crafted narrative that can be applied to any Fantrepreneurial tract.” —Lance Fensterman, President of ReedPOP Global, world’s largest pop culture event company “Fandom is a complex subject to cover, and like anything complicated in life, there are nuances. I love that you are writing about fantrepreneurs. I am fascinated by it. I can’t wait to read it and I am proud to be a small part of it.”—Jay Bonansinga, Author, The Walking Dead Woodbury series For anyone who ever wanted to be more than just a fan, Business Is Dead offers easy-to-follow pathways for first-time entrepreneurs looking to start a fan-focused venture. Here you will find funny, inspirational stories of turning passion into action and creating a new form of start-up—the FANtrepreneur. Neil A. Cohen blends his insight, advice, and humor from thirty years’ experience as an M.B.A. specializing in corporate growth, with his own personal experiences as an entrepreneur, learning the intricacies of the fandom-driven marketplace. At the book’s core is the author’s experience of launching his first entrepreneurial venture. Sparked by his fandom of The Walking Dead, he formed an LLC to promote and sell his own zombie trilogy. Along the way, he has met with other authors, artists, philanthropists, and business owners who were driven by their fandom—each forging their own economic path and turning their passion into action.

Book Remainders of the American Century

Download or read book Remainders of the American Century written by Brent Ryan Bellamy and published by Wesleyan University Press. This book was released on 2021-03-08 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the post-apocalyptic novel in American literature from the 1940s to the present as reflections of a growing anxiety about the decline of US hegemony. Post-apocalyptic novels imagine human responses to the aftermath of catastrophe. The shape of the future they imagine is defined by "the remainder," when what is left behind expresses itself in storytelling tropes. Since 1945 the portentous fate of the United States has shifted from the irradiated future of nuclear holocaust to the saltwater wash of global warming. Theorist Brent Ryan Bellamy illuminates the political unconscious of post-apocalyptic writing, drawing on a range of disciplinary fields, including science fiction studies, American studies, energy humanities research, and critical race theory. From George R. Stewart's Earth Abides to N.K. Jemisin's The Fifth Season, Remainders of the American Century describes the tension between a reactionary impulse and the progressive impetus for a new world. "Brent Ryan Bellamy weaves a rich and diverse tapestry of fictions, all of which navigate the changing valences of apocalypse, survival, and remainders during the rise and fall of the post-Second World War 'American Century.' Given the global post-apocalyptic reality we all currently inhabit, this is a timely and significant study." But global forces conspire to steal the defense weapon, and U.S. government leaders will do anything to stop the nation’s impending economic catastrophe—including selling-out Jordan and his weapon. Thunder of Heaven As world events begin setting the stage for the “end of days” foretold in Revelation, Joshua Jordan must weigh the personal price he must pay to save the nation he loves. Brink of Chaos Joshua Jordan remains in Israel during his self-imposed “exile” out of the reach of U.S. authorities who have trumped-up false criminal treason charges against him. As corruption in high government offices threaten to block the election of a worthy presidential candidate by all means necessary—including the unthinkable—Israel’s leadership is tempted to sign a “peace” proposal initiated by the UN under the authority of Coliquin. Are the recurring dreams Joshua has had about the coming rapture from God? And is the end sooner than anyone expects? Mark of Evil Ethan March, Jimmy Louder, and Rivka Reuban have been left behind in a world that is rapidly coming under the influence of the Antichrist. Download or read book Monstrous Nature written by Robin L. Murray and published by U of Nebraska Press. This book was released on 2016 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Godzilla, a traditional natural monster and representation of cinema's subgenre of natural attack, also provides a cautionary symbol of the dangerous consequences of mistreating the natural world--monstrous nature on the attack. Horror films such as Godzilla invite an exploration of the complexities of a monstrous nature that humanity both creates and embodies. Robin L. Murray and Joseph K. Heumann demonstrate how the horror film and its offshoots can often be understood in relation to a monstrous nature that has evolved either deliberately or by accident and that generates fear in humanity as both character and audience. This connection between fear and the natural world opens up possibilities for ecocritical readings often missing from research on monstrous nature, the environment, and the horror film. Organized in relation to four recurring environmental themes in films that construct nature as a monster--anthropomorphism, human ecology, evolution, and gendered landscapes--the authors apply ecocritical perspectives to reveal the multiple ways nature is constructed as monstrous or in which the natural world itself constructs monsters. This interdisciplinary approach to film studies fuses cultural, theological, and scientific critiques to explore when and why nature becomes monstrous.

Book WMD Nukes and Nuns

    Book Details:
  • Author : William Strabala
  • Publisher : Algora Publishing
  • Release : 2006
  • ISBN : 0875864481
  • Pages : 434 pages

Download or read book WMD Nukes and Nuns written by William Strabala and published by Algora Publishing. This book was released on 2006 with total page 434 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Where are the W.M.D.? It doesn't take a team of international inspectors to find the truth. Three nuns performed this service for free. Even as America sent its military forces into Iraq on the grounds that Saddam might have had Weapons of Mass Destruction, three nuns set out to open America's eyes to the W.M.D.s we cherish here at home. Armed with nothing but a rosary, a call for moral courage and a pair of fence-cutting pliers, three nuns spilled their own blood from baby bottles on the concrete dome of a missile silo in the midst of the sagebrush prairie. The stage was set for this peaceful protest by a sequence of events rooted in diplomatic and economic machinations going back to 1991 and before. No sign of W.M.D. was found in Iraq, though no stone was left unturned and no office left unburned. Here in the U.S., three nuns were sent to jail for undermining national security. Apparently, no one appreciates an unexpected wake-up call. Three nuns went to jail and the whole world went to hell in a handbasket. This book is about the injustice of the U.S. federal courts that sent the nuns to jail for virtuous conduct, and the public that preferred not to hear about it. It's about political immorality and the meaning of justice in a nation where it seems to be illegal to carry out non-violent protests against mass killing. The book also reveals the corporate sources of the weapons of mass destruction (W.M.D.) that were delivered to Saddam Hussein in the 1980s and raises troubling questions about responsibility.
