La Investigacion recogio y analizo la experiencia de un Proyecto Demostrativo del Centro Mexicano para la Produccion Mas Limpia(CMP+L)para siete fundidoras (PYMESF)en 1997, en el corredor industrial Mexico-Queretaro-San Luis Potosi. Estos Proyectos son uno de los principales instrumentos de la difusion de la P+L en Mexico que, sin embargo, ha resultado insuficiente para promover la implantacion general de este sistema. Nuestro proposito fue encontrar las causas de este fenomeno.La recoleccion de datos se baso en entrevistas a profundiddad efectuadas a los empresarios de las PYMESF, a expertos que participaron en el Proyecto Demostrativo de P+L, y en la observacion directa a las fundidoras."

Mas aun, en varios capitulos queda claro que la buena reputacion social y ambiental de una empresa puede resultarle a ella misma un activo muy valioso como parte de su estrategia competitiva. Este libro pretende contribuir al entendimiento de la problematica ambiental industrial, especialmente en Mexico, al centrarse en asuntos particulares y diferenciar esta problematica por ramas, regiones y periodos, entre otras categorias.

Comprised of five chapters, the publication studies the three crises (slow growth, growing inequality and the environmental emergency) affecting economies and societies around the world, placing particular focus on those of Latin America and the Caribbean. It goes on to present a framework for analysing these crises in an integrated manner and measuring their magnitude in the specified regions. It then examines the quantitative impacts on growth, emissions, income distribution and the external sector under different policy scenarios, highlighting the potential of various policy combinations to forge a more dynamic growth path, with lower emissions and greater equality. Further identifying seven sectors that can drive sustainable development and proposing policies to foster these sectors, the publication concludes with an analysis that links up macroeconomic, industrial, social and environmental policies and the role of the State in building consensus for their implementation.

The main question addressed is how Latin American small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) may participate in global markets in ways that provide for sustainable income growth, the “high road” to competitiveness. In contrast, the “low road” is often typically followed by small firms from developing countries, which often compete by squeezing wages and revenues rather than by increasing productivity, salaries, and profits.

But some changes provoke more attention than others, in part due to the vast uncertainty involved in making predictions about the future. The 2019 World Development Report will study how the nature of work is changing as a result of advances in technology today. Technological progress disrupts existing systems. A new social contract is needed to smooth the transition and guard against rising inequality. Significant investments in human capital throughout a person’s lifecycle are vital to this effort. If workers are to stay competitive against machines they need to train or retool existing skills. A social protection system that includes a minimum basic level of protection for workers and citizens can complement new forms of employment. Improved private sector policies to encourage startup activity and competition can help countries compete in the digital age. Governments also need to ensure that firms pay their fair share of taxes, in part to fund this new social contract. The 2019 World Development Report presents an analysis of these issues based upon the available evidence.
