Book A Field Theoretical Calculation of the One pion exchange and Two pion exchange Contributions to the Phase Shifts with Higher Angular Momenta for Nucleon nucleon Scattering

Download or read book A Field Theoretical Calculation of the One pion exchange and Two pion exchange Contributions to the Phase Shifts with Higher Angular Momenta for Nucleon nucleon Scattering written by IWAO. SATO and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 1 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The one-pion-exchange and two-pion-exchange parts of the S-matrix for nucleon-nucleon scattering are calculate field-theoretically. The rescattering of virtual pions by nucleons and the pion-pion interaction between virtual pions are taken into account. The S-matrix is then decomposed into the partial-wave amplitudes, and the phase shifts are calculated. Numerical evaluations are carried out for the 310-Mev protonproton scattering, and the results are compared with the phase shifts obtained by analyzing the experimental data. Without contribution of the pion-pion interaction, the results are far from agreement with experiment because of too strong attraction arising from the contributions of the two-pion-exchange part, but the contribution of the pion-pion resonance in the I equals J equals 1 state improves the results considerably by largely cancelling the attraction. Definite discrepancies remain between the theory and the experiments, and some unknown effects must play important roles in determining the nuclear force in the region of the internucleon distance around the Compton wave length of the pion. Book Pions and Nuclei

Download or read book Pions and Nuclei written by Torleif Erik Oskar Ericson and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 1988 with total page 506 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The pion plays an outstanding role in nuclear physics as a generator of the nuclear force and as an important part of the nuclear many-body problem. At the same time, pion beams are used as probes to explore the nucleus and its interactions. As pion physics has matured over the years, a rich and diverse variety of phenomena has been uncovered. The aim of this book is to examine the underlying physical picture behind these phenomena in a systematic and coherent way. The authors emphasize the interplay between physical concepts and experimental facts more than the formal tools, which are presented in a series of appendices. The book is directed towards advanced students as well as research workers.

Book Minimally Nonlocal Nucleon nucleon Potentials with Chiral Two pion Exchange Including math mi Delta mi math Resonances

This book was released on 2015 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this study, we construct a coordinate-space chiral potential, including [Delta]-isobar intermediate states in its two-pion-exchange component up to order Q3 (Q denotes generically the low momentum scale). The contact interactions entering at next-to-leading and next-to-next-to-next-to-leading orders (Q2 and Q4, respectively) are rearranged by Fierz transformations to yield terms at most quadratic in the relative momentum operator of the two nucleons. The low-energy constant multiplying these contact interactions are fitted to the 2013 Granada database, consisting of 2309 pp and 2982 np data (including, respectively, 148 and 218 normalizations) in the laboratory-energy range 0-300 MeV. For the total 5291 $pp$ and $np$ data in this range, we obtain a [Chi]2 /datum of roughly 1.3 for a set of three models characterized by long- and short-range cutoffs, RL and RS respectively, ranging from (RL, RS)=(1.2,0.8) fm down to (0.8,0.6) fm. The long-range (short-range) cutoff regularizes the one- and two-pion exchange (contact) part of the potential.

Book Two Pion Exchange Nucleon Nucleon Potential

Book excerpt: We present a relativistic procedure for the chiral expansion of the two-pion exchange component of the NN potential, which emphasizes the role of intermediate pi N subamplitudes. The relationship between power counting in pi N and NN processes is discussed and results are expressed directly in terms of observable subthreshold coefficients. Interactions are determined by one and two-loop diagrams, involving pions, nucleons and other degrees of freedom, frozen into empirical subthreshold coefficients. The full evaluation of these diagrams produces amplitudes containing many different loop integrals. Their simplification by means of relations among these integrals leads to a set of intermediate results. Subsequent truncation to order(q4) yields the relativistic potential, which depends on four loop integrals, representing bubble, triangle, crossed box and box diagrams. The bubble and triangle integrals are the same as in pi N scattering and we have shown that they also determine the chiral structures of box and crossed box integrals. Relativistic threshold effects were found to begin to contribute at order(q5) only and our results should coincide with those of the standard heavy baryon approach. Checking this explicitly, we found differences due to the Goldberger-Treiman discrepancy and terms of order(q3), possibly associated with the iteration of the OPEP.

Book Contribution from Two On shell Pion Exchange in Nucleon nucleon Scattering

Download or read book Contribution from Two On shell Pion Exchange in Nucleon nucleon Scattering written by Nupan Kheaomaingam and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We used recent phenomenological form factors to calculate the effect of on-shell two-pion exchange in nucleon-nucleon scattering below the two-pion production threshold. As expected, the contributions of partial wave amplitudes are all negligible. We also noticed that the relativistic spin-operator decomposition of the scattering amplitude is not unique at certain momenta and angles.

Book The Two Pion Exchange Contribution to the Higher Partial Waves of Nucleon Nucleon Scattering thesis

Download or read book The Two Pion Exchange Contribution to the Higher Partial Waves of Nucleon Nucleon Scattering thesis written by and published by . This book was released on 1960 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By means of the Mandelstam representation, expressions are obtained for the two-pion-exchange contributions to the higher partial waves of N-N scattering. A set of ten invariant amplitudes is selected, of which each member obeys the Mandelstam representation. Dispersion relations are written for the amplitudes in which the discontinuities are absorptive parts for N-bar-N scattering. By means of the unitarity condition the absorptive parts are expressed as a partial- wave expansion in terms of the pi pi - NN partialwave amplitudes of Frazer and Fulco, except for the contributions of the pole in the pi -N system which are treated exactly in order to ensure better convergence of the partial-wave expansion. The N-N transition amplitudes in the angular-momentum representation are expressed in terms of the invariant amplitudes. (auth).
