Book Nonsymmetric Fields Theory and Its Applications

Download or read book Nonsymmetric Fields Theory and Its Applications written by Marek Wojciech Kalinowski and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1990 with total page 540 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is devoted to a unification of two major principles of invariance in physics (local gauge and local coordinate invariance) and reducing both principles to the second one in a more than 4-dimensional world. The additional dimensions cannot be directly observed. Thus it is akin to a Kaluza-Klein or Jordan-Thiry point of view. The author develops these ideas using nonriemannian geometry from Einstein's Unified Field Theory. The theory uses nonsymmetric right-invariant metric defined on a principal fibre bundle (a gauge bundle). The book proceeds in three stages: ?Interference effects? between gravity (described by NGT) and gauge field (including electromagnetic field) which appeared due to nonriemannian geometry in the theory and its physical consequences were discovered. Some applications have been pointed out

Book Interactions and Structures in Nuclei Proceedings of a Conference to Celebrate the 65th Birthday of Sir Denys Wilkinson

Download or read book Interactions and Structures in Nuclei Proceedings of a Conference to Celebrate the 65th Birthday of Sir Denys Wilkinson written by Roger John Blin-Stoyle and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1988 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Professor Sir Denys Wilkinson FRS has contributed to many areas of nuclear and particle physics for more than forty years. In celebration of his 65th birthday internationally eminent physicists presented review papers at a conference held in his honour. The papers in this book reflect Sir Denys' wide ranging interests in the fields of nuclear and particle physics, astrophysics and cosmology; *nuclear models *heavy-ion radioactivity *nuclear excitations and exchange effects *nuclear interactions in the quark model *nuclear beta decay *symmetries *unification theories *the search for proton decay *the inflationary universe The conference emphasised the close relationships between these areas of research and explored future trends. Interactions and Structures in Nuclei will therefore be of great interest to researchers and postgraduates needing an overview of these fields. other_titles

Book Neutrinos And Implications For Physics Beyond The Standard Model

Download or read book Neutrinos And Implications For Physics Beyond The Standard Model written by R Shrock and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2003-08-12 with total page 425 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This important book presents the proceedings of the conference “Neutrinos and Implications for Physics Beyond the Standard Model”, put on by the Yang Institute for Theoretical Physics, State University of New York at Stony Brook. The observation of neutrino masses and lepton mixing constitutes the first confirmed evidence for physics beyond the Standard Model. This evidence includes the measured deficiency of charged current reactions induced by solar neutrinos and the anomalous zenith angle distribution of atmospheric neutrinos. A profound question now facing theorists is: What do these observations imply for new physics? At the conference, members of the major experiments gave an update on current experimental evidence from solar and atmospheric neutrino data for neutrino oscillations, and status reports from KamLAND and MiniBooNE. Leading theorists also reported on neutrinoless double beta decay, high energy neutrino scattering and precision electroweak data, theoretical models for neutrino masses and lepton mixing, and constraints from neutrino data, etc. Since neutrino physics is at present one of the most exciting areas of particle physics, this volume should be of interest to a wide variety of students and researchers in physics.

Book News 99 Proceedings Of The International Symposium On Nuclear Electro weak Spectroscopy For Symmetries In Electro weak Nuclear processes

Download or read book News 99 Proceedings Of The International Symposium On Nuclear Electro weak Spectroscopy For Symmetries In Electro weak Nuclear processes written by Kichiji Hatanaka and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2002-09-10 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The NEWS 99 international symposium discusses symmetries in electroweak processes in nuclei. Many phenomena in nuclear and particle physics are related to symmetry. It is known that we are living in a left-handed world as far as the Weak interaction is concerned, but neutrino physics suggests that a right-handed world may also be relevant. Chiral symmetry and its breaking plays an essential role in generating hadron masses. Symmetries related to flavor in the strong interaction like isospin, SU(3) and so on are known to be violated although they play a crucial role for the understanding of phenomena in nuclear and particle physics. The treatment of tiny breaking is of particular importance. Weak and electromagnetic interactions are well established at the fundamental level and can be used to probe the structure of nuclei and hadrons.A wide variety of phenomena in nuclear and particle physics were discussed in NEWS 99 with an emphasis on symmetry. Topics ranged from nuclear structure to neutrino properties, covering highly phenomenological to fundamental fields.
