Book excerpt: The aim of the DANF conference was to present and discuss new theoretical and experimental results in the field of nuclear fission dynamics. The conference program was designed to cover a wide range of physical phenomena including spontaneous and induced fission at low and intermediate energies and fragmentation of hot nuclei. Among the topics discussed at the conference were: the development of various theories, experiments on the synthesis of superheavy elements, fusion-fission processes and the decay of complex nuclear systems, binary and ternary fission, nuclear structure of neutron-rich nuclei and the peculiarities of exotic nuclear reactions. Attention was also paid to the recent progress in developing radioactive ion beam facilities. The development of new methods was also on the conference agenda.

Book Fission And Properties Of Neutron rich Nuclei Proceedings Of The Fifth International Conference On Icfn5

Download or read book Fission And Properties Of Neutron rich Nuclei Proceedings Of The Fifth International Conference On Icfn5 written by Joseph H Hamilton and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2013-09-16 with total page 746 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These proceedings are the fifth in the series of International Conferences covering fission and properties of neutron-rich nuclei, which are at the forefront of nuclear research. The time interval of 5 years between each conference allows for significant new results to be achieved. Recently, world leaders in theory and experiments in research and the development of new facilities for research presented their latest results in areas such as synthesis of superheavy elements, new facilities for and recent results with radioactive ion beams, structure of neutron-rich nuclei, nuclear fission process, fission yields and nuclear astrophysics. This book is a major source of the latest research in these areas and plans for the future. The conference brought together a unique group of over 100 speakers including leaders from the major nuclear laboratories in Canada, China, France, Finland, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, Switerzland and the US along with leading research scientists from around the world.

Book Large Facilities In Physic Proceedings Of The 5th Eps International Conference On Large Facilities

Download or read book Large Facilities In Physic Proceedings Of The 5th Eps International Conference On Large Facilities written by Herwig Schopper and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1995-05-04 with total page 482 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Physics research relies increasingly on the use of large facilities. The construction and operation of these facilities represent an increasing fraction of the funding for research. The most often calls for international collaborations. Since large facilities are now of great importance in all domains of physics, it is instructive to consider them in parallel. This is what is done in this book which puts emphasis on large physics facilities in Europe whilst taking a worldwide perspective.

Book Nuclear Structure of the Zirconium Region

Download or read book Nuclear Structure of the Zirconium Region written by Jürgen Eberth and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 427 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Results important for the general understanding of nuclear structure have emerged from the study of the nuclei in the mass region around the neutron-deficient and neutron-rich Zirconium isotopes. This research report gives the proceedings of a workshop which brought together about 70 experts in the area. Review papers deal with the theoretical interpretation of the unusual properties of these medium-mass nuclei, using the mean field approach, a microscopic description, the interacting boson model and particle rotor calculations. Papers also discuss experimental procedures for studying nuclei far from stability and the possibility of complete spectroscopy. The reviews are supplemented by short contributions presenting very new results. Phenomena discussed include the interplay between subshell effects and the strong proton-neutron interaction in determining nuclear shape, the coexistence of different nuclear shape and the occurrence of fast beta decay.
