This book was released on 1999-02-25 with total page 590 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Predeal International Summer School, held at the Institute for Physics and Nuclear Engineering, Bucharest, Romania, is a prestigious scientific event. The school first took place in 1969 and since then it has been held every two years. This year the lectures were given by more than 30 outstanding professors, covering timely subjects in theoretical and experimental nuclear physics. In addition, there were special sessions of contributed papers presenting the most recent results in these domains. The aim of the school was thus two-fold: to give basic information on some hot subjects of research in nuclear physics and to present them with the most recent achievements in these fields. This volume contains the proceedings of the school.

Book Nuclear Structure Study with Neutrons

Download or read book Nuclear Structure Study with Neutrons written by J. Ero and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 500 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The International Conference on "Nuclear Structure Study with Neutrons" or ganized in Budapest between 31st July and 5th August. 1972. was the successor of a meeting held seven years ago in Antwerp. The close links between the two conferences were revealed not in name alone but. more importantly. in the choice of subjects discussed. As in Antwerp. the lectures and contributions to the Budapest Conference could be grouped under the following five main headings: nuclear spectroscopy; the optical model; the statistical model and intermediate structures; the mechanism of neutron capture and non-statistical effects; and, finally. miscellaneous special topics. The invited papers on the one hand summarizing recent developments and current thinking in one of the above main topics. and the other surveying the most important results of the contributed papers submitted to the Conference. were presented on the plenary sessions. Most of the contributed papers were read in full on three parallel sessions. This volume contains the complete text of all the lectures delivered in the plenary sessions and abstracts of the contributed papers. The invited talks were presented at the Conference in a rather random order because of technical reasons, it seemed. however, more sensible to change their order according to their subjects and to print them grouped under the above main headings. Further more we divided the Proceedings into two main parts, the first containing only the lectures of summarizing character. the second including the abstracts of the contributions together with the surveying talks.

Book Nuclear Structure of 98Ru Using Beta Decay

Download or read book Nuclear Structure of 98Ru Using Beta Decay written by Sally Valbuena Burbano and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A recent survey of potential candidates for spherical vibrational motion concluded that very few passed the criteria; of those that did, 98,100Ru were the most promising. However, in part this may have been due to the lack of detailed spectroscopic data for 98,100Ru. In order to remedy this, we have performed a high- statistics measurement of the beta decay of 98,100Rh using the newly commissioned beta decay Tape Station at iThemba labs located near Cape Town, South Africa. Activity of 98Rh was produced using fusion evaporation reactions of 12C beams on an 89Y target, which was then transported from the irradiation station to a counting station. The counting station consisted of 4 clover-type HPGe, augmented by a TIGRESS detector, a plastic scintillator, and an in-vacuum Si(Li) detector. The decay of 98Rh to 98Ru was the first measurement to be completed on this facility. Very high-statistics data sets were collected for 98Ru, resulting in considerable expansions of their decay schemes. Several weak E2 transitions were newly observed. The E2 transition to the second 0+ state possesses the largest relative B(E2) value, strongly suggesting that the third 2+ state is a band member of the second excited 0+ band. We have also observed a candidate level for the 4+ rotational band member, suggesting that 98Ru possesses a more-deformed excited 0+ band coexisting with a less-deformed ground state.

Book Structure and Dynamics of Elementary Matter

Download or read book Structure and Dynamics of Elementary Matter written by Walter Greiner and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-09 with total page 673 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ladies and gentlemen, dear colleagues, welcome to Kemer to the NATO Advanced Study Institute Structure and Dynamics of Elementary Matter. We have chosen Kemer as the place of our NASI because it is located in a be- tiful and hospitable surrounding. This part of the Mediterranean at the Turkish Riviera is a historic region where many cultures meet (e.g., the Oriental and the Greek and Roman European cultures) and where you ?nd numerous places which played a role in ancient science and in early Christianity. Moreover, with the hotel Ceylan Inter-Continental we have found a most excellent me- ing place, directly located at the beach, equipped with wonderful swimming pools and restaurants – an absolutely ?rst-class location. Our NASIwill deal withthemost recent developmentsin high-energyheavy ionphysicsandinthesearchforsuperheavynuclei–tworatherdistinctareasof research. Indeed, we want to bring two very active communities of nuclear and high-energy physics into close contact. The meeting is both a school and has also the character of a conference: A school because there are many advanced students, many of which are themselves already top researchers and who are contributing with their own research in seminars and posters. It is also a c- ference because new results in the exciting and wonderful ?elds of low- and high-energy heavy ion physics will be presented. We are mainly focussing on the topics of superheavy elements and of hot and dense nuclear matter.
