Book Nuclear Physics Neutron Physics And Nuclear Energy Proceedings The Ix International School

Download or read book Nuclear Physics Neutron Physics And Nuclear Energy Proceedings The Ix International School written by W Andrejtscheff and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1990-07-04 with total page 494 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The properties of the harmonic oscillator with random frequency or/and random damping formed the content of the first edition. The second edition includes hundreds of publications on this subject since 2005. The noisy oscillator continues to be the subject of intensive studies in physics, chemistry, biology, and social sciences. The new and the latest type of a stochastic oscillator has also been considered, namely, an oscillator with random mass. Such model describes, among other phenomena, Brownian motion with adhesion, where the molecules of the surrounding medium not only randomly collide, but also stick to the Brownian particle for some (random) time, thereby changing its mass. This edition contains two new chapters, eight new sections and an expanded bibliography. A wide group of researchers, students and teachers will benefit from this book.

Book Nuclear Physics And Gamma ray Sources For Nuclear Security And Nonproliferation Proceedings Of The International Symposium

Download or read book Nuclear Physics And Gamma ray Sources For Nuclear Security And Nonproliferation Proceedings Of The International Symposium written by Takehito Hayakawa and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2014-10-24 with total page 379 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nuclear nonproliferation is a critical global issue. A key technological challenge to ensuring nuclear nonproliferation and security is the detection of long-lived radioisotopes and fissionable nuclides in a non-destructive manner. This technological challenge requires new methods for detecting relevant nuclides and the development of new quantum-beam sources. For example, one new method that has been proposed and studied is nuclear resonance fluorescence with energy-tunable, monochromatic gamma-rays generated by Compton scattering of laser photons with electrons. The development of new methods requires the help of researchers from a wide range of fields, such as nuclear physics, accelerator physics, laser physics, etc. Furthermore, any new method must be compatible with the requirements of administrators and nuclear-material inspectors.

Download or read book New Projects and Lines of Research in Nuclear Physics written by Giovanni G. Fazio and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2003 with total page 427 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This symposium was held in honour of Yuri Oganessian for his laurea honoris causa conferred by the University of Messina, and to celebrate Giorgio Giardina''s 60th birthday. The aim of the symposium was to focus on the new projects and new lines of research in nuclear physics that will be developed in the main laboratories and research centres during the next 10-20 years. The main emphasis was on the discussion (from both the experimental and theoretical viewpoints) of properties of nuclei under extreme conditions (at large mass numbers, at large isospin, at high temperature, and at nuclear densities far from equilibrium), by investigating nuclear collisions from low to relativistic energies. This proceedings volume is a collection of all the invited talks of the plenary sessions and oral contributions given by the speakers at the parallel sessions.

Book Nuclear Structure and Dynamics 09

Download or read book Nuclear Structure and Dynamics 09 written by Matko Milin and published by American Institute of Physics. This book was released on 2009-09-10 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume collects the contributions to the international conference "Nuclear Structure and Dynamics", held in Dubrovnik, Croatia, from May 4 to 8, 2009. The conference was hosted by the Physics Department of the University of Zagreb and the Ruder Boškovic Institute. Following the long tradition of nuclear physics meetings on the Adriatic coast, organized by our two institutions, the Conference presented a review of recent experimental and theoretical advances in the physics of nuclear structure and reactions, and provided a broad discussion forum on current and future research projects. The main focus was on the following topics: Nuclear structure and reactions far from stability - Exotic modes of excitation and decays - Collective phenomena and symmetries - Ab initio, cluster model, and shell-model approaches - Nuclear energy density functionals - Heavy-ion reactions at near-barrier energies - Dynamics of light-ion reactions - Nuclear reactions of astrophysical interest - Weak-interaction processes. More than 170 nuclear physicists from over 30 countries participated in "Nuclear Structure and Dynamics". The considerable interest in this meeting was reflected not only in the number of participants but also in the large number of received abstracts. Following the suggestions of the International Advisory Committee, only about half of the submitted abstracts could be selected for oral presentation. In addition to 24 invited talks, more than 80 oral contributions were presented. An evening poster session was organized as part of the conference. An effort was made to provide the opportunity for young researchers to present their work, and selected posters were accepted for very short oral presentation.
