With Bible teaching and writing among his principle interests, Fr. Chapman offers this commentary in the hopes that reason and scholarship can shed light on a biblical work where baseless, extravagant imagination has long cast its shadow.

The book of Revelation, the final prophecy in the Bible is the consummation of all that was written down from the beginning to the end. This awesome book is summed up in one verse. Hebrews 10:9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. The old refers to the world of the law, which was a preparation for the body in which God would manifest on the earth. Hebrews 10:5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he said, Sacrifice and offering thou would not, but a body hast thou prepared me: The law world was a system of worship that foreshadowed the GOOD things to come and it was a shadow of the heavenlies. Revelation is not a book to fear, there is a blessing contained for believers. Revelation is not to be tampered with private interpretations. Rev 22:18 For I testify unto every man that hear the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: Rev 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. The Word is explained by the Word and the Spirit and we cannot change history.
