Book In Search of the Lost Chord

Download or read book In Search of the Lost Chord written by Gavin D and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2020-10-27 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book I will take you on a very emotional and sometimes dark journey. I will share what my life was like before I drank and used drugs. What I became like when I was using and more importantly the road to my recovery. For many years I failed to stay sober until one day I woke up and didn’t want to be alive anymore. I was spiritually lost and broken; I was a very lonely man when I took my last alcoholic beverage. Although I had much to live for, I welcomed an end to the pain and suffering I was causing myself and family. The people in ‘Alcoholics Anonymous’ were patient and tolerant. They loved me when I had no love to give, and held me as I picked up the pieces of my life. On my search I found a higher power, a spiritual home and just as important I found freedom from self. I enjoy sobriety today because I keep my recovery simple. I refrain from taking the first drink of alcohol, simple, yet very effective. It is a wonderful gift to help others recover from this insidious dis-ease called alcoholism.

Book From Math Teacher to Mystic

Download or read book From Math Teacher to Mystic written by Kelley Baeza and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2022-04-26 with total page 111 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This mesmerizing and inspiring memoir describes many profound and unbelievable experiences of the author, Kelley Baeza, as well as her struggle as a high school mathematics teacher, to understand and to integrate the extraordinary phenomena. Months after abandoning a PhD dissertation and beginning an Ashtanga yoga practice in 2007, mystical and psychic phenomena began. With no religious or spiritual background to view the extraordinary experiences, Kelley was continuously wondering if she was making them up or going crazy. She embarked on a quest to learn about awakening and spirituality to try to understand what was happening as premonitions, out-of-body experiences, plant spirit communications, seeing and hearing Divine Masters and other spiritually transformative events occurred. In From Math Teacher to Mystic, Kelley shares numerous spiritual experiences including a premonition that resulted in her saving a drowning child, a spontaneous healing of chronic pain from an auto accident, accounts with thousands of dollars materializing, and being enveloped in the sensation of being loved and taken care of. Ultimately, the plethora of these experiences along with the wisdom gained from many trips to India, retreats, spiritual teachers, meditations and books, quieted her mind. Trust and faith developed in the Universal Intelligence guiding her and led her to the discovery of a life filled with inner peace, calm and contentedness even in challenging times. The author states: “I want my readers to be • inspired, • encouraged, • uplifted, • entertained, • and determined to build their own connection. Others will be • reminded of their experiences/synchronicities, • curious to learn more, • and optimistic that life in a peaceful state is possible. My hope is that From Math Teacher to Mystic brings my readers joy, causing them to smile throughout their being.”.

Book And Nothing But the Truthiness

Download or read book And Nothing But the Truthiness written by Lisa Rogak and published by Macmillan. This book was released on 2011-10-11 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A funny and personal portrait of the comedian who became the headline-making, ground-breaking star of The Colbert Report. "My name is Stephen Colbert, but I actually play someone on television named Stephen Colbert, who looks like me and talks like me, but who says things with a straight face [that] he doesn't mean."—Stephen Colbert No other comedian can generate headlines today the way Stephen Colbert can. With his appearance at a Congressional hearing, his rally in Washington, D.C., his bestselling book, his creation of the now-accepted word truthiness, and of course his popular TV show, nearly everyone (except the poor Congressional fools who agree to be interviewed on his show) has heard of him. Yet all these things are part of a character also named Stephen Colbert. Who is he really? In And Nothing But the Truthiness, biographer Lisa Rogak examines the man behind the character. She reveals the roots of his humor, growing up as the youngest of eleven siblings, and the tragedy that forever altered the family. She charts his early years earning his chops first as a serious acting student and later as a budding impov comic, especially his close connection with Amy Sedaris, which led to the cult TV show Strangers with Candy. And Rogak offers a look inside how The Daily Show works, and the exclusive bond that Colbert and Jon Stewart formed that would lead to Colbert's own rise to celebrity. A behind-the-scenes look into the world of one of the biggest comedians in America, And Nothing But the Truthiness is a terrific read for any resident of Colbert Nation.

To find out, she would be swept up in a world of terrorism, white slavery, seduction, and betrayal that would lead her from the Palace of Racheed Singh and the confines of his Turkish harem to the clandestine world of Black Ice. Nicholas St. Claire was a highly skilled, highly trained operative cast in the role of a double agent. His cold, calculating mind and objective ruthlessness had allowed him success--a defender of right in a world, corrupt and perverse. But Andrea Weston's betrayal changed all that. Now, he lived for revenge. "Through the Shadows" is the third book by C Rowe Myers and the second in the "Black Ice" series--prequel to "Black Ice/Shadowed Road." Book Concept and Form Volume 2

Download or read book Concept and Form Volume 2 written by Peter Hallward and published by Verso Books. This book was released on 2012-12-12 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Concept and Form is a two-volume monument to the work of the philosophy journal the Cahiers pour l’Analyse (1966–69), the most ambitious and radical collective project to emerge from French structuralism. Inspired by their teachers Louis Althusser and Jacques Lacan, the editors of the Cahiers sought to sever philosophy from the interpretation of given meanings or experiences, focusing instead on the mechanisms that structure specific configurations of discourse, from the psychological and ideological to the literary, scientific, and political. Adequate analysis of the operations at work in these configurations, they argue, helps prepare the way for their revolutionary transformation. Volume One of Concept and Form translates some of the most important theoretical texts from the Cahiers pour l’Analyse; this second volume collects newly commissioned essays on the journal, together with recent interviews with people who were either members of its editorial board or associated with its broader theoretical project. It aims to help reconstruct the intellectual context of the Cahiers, and to assess its contemporary theoretical legacy. Prefaced by an overview of the project’s rigorous investment in science and conceptual analysis, the volume considers in particular the Cahiers’ distinctive effort to link the apparently incommensurable categories of ‘structure’ and ‘subject’, so as to prepare for a new synthesis of Marxism and psychoanalysis.Contributors include Alain Badiou, Étienne Balibar, Edward Baring, Jacques Bouveresse, Yves Duroux, Alain Grosrichard, Peter Hallward, Adrian Johnston, Patrice Maniglier, Tracy McNulty, Jean-Claude Milner, Knox Peden, Jacques Rancière, François Regnault, and Slavoj Žižek.
