Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nothing Hidden, Nothing Broken By: Katie M. Scott, LPC, LADC Nothing Hidden, Nothing Broken is a story about overcoming the storms in life. Author Katie M. Scott chronicles the journey of walking through tragedy by the Grace of God, the Word of God and Faith in God. It’s a book about having determination to never give up or give in to that thing that comes to take you out. It’s a story of releasing the hurt, the pain and the shame of your past, and coming clean so that God can do what He does: bring you out and cause you to be victorious, no matter what you are faced with in life. It’s about coming to that place in life where there is “Nothing Hidden, Nothing Broken,” because you believe God is who He says He is and He will do what He says He will do, always. We have often heard it said, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” In telling her story, Katie is also telling the story of so many others. No matter what you are going through, no matter what you are faced with in life, remember - GOD IS GREATER! God promised to never leave us or forsake us, and He never will because He is faithful.

Download or read book Unseen written by Sara Hagerty and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2017-08-29 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How do we find contentment in God when we feel so hidden? Sara Hagerty unfolds the truths found in the biblical story of Mary of Bethany to discover the scandalous love of God and explore the spiritual richness of being hidden in him. Every heart longs to be seen and understood. Yet most of our lives is unwitnessed. We spend our days working, driving, parenting. We sometimes spend whole seasons feeling unnoticed and unappreciated. In Unseen, Sara Hagerty suggests that this is exactly what God intended. He is the only One who truly knows us. He is the only One who understands the value of the unseen in our lives. When this truth seeps into our souls, we realize that only when we hide ourselves in God can we give ourselves to others in true freedom--and know the joy of a deeper relationship with the God who sees us. Our culture applauds what we can produce, what we can show, what we can upload to social media. Only when we give all of ourselves to God--unedited, abandoned, apparently wasteful in its lack of productivity--can we live out who God created us to be. As Hagerty writes, "Maybe my seemingly unproductive, looking-up-at-Him life produces awe among the angels." Through an eloquent exploration of both personal and biblical story, Hagerty calls us to offer every unseen minute of our lives to God. God is in the secret places of our lives that no one else witnesses. But we've not been relegated to these places. We've been invited. We may be "wasting" ourselves in a hidden corner today: The cubicle on the fourth floor. The hospital bedside of an elderly parent. The laundry room. But these are the places God uses to meet us with a radical love. These are the places that produce the kind of unhinged love in us that gives everything at His feet, whether or not anyone else ever proclaims our name, whether or not anyone else ever sees. God's invitation is not just for a season or a day. It is the question of our lives: "When no one else applauds you, when it makes no sense, when you see no results--will you waste your love on Me?"

Book excerpt: For many people, remaining optimistic and feeling positive about themselves and their lives is a constant battle—especially when circumstances are difficult and life is hard. For others, negativity is something that only sneaks up from time to time, yet still wreaks havoc in their hearts. Regardless of the root causes, once pessimistic thoughts permeate our minds, our feelings and emotions begin to control us instead of us controlling them. Eventually it doesn’t seem possible to stay positive, happy, and full of joy, and negative thought patterns shake our faith, causing us to sink emotionally, mentally, and spiritually over time. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Despite what storms roll in, hearts anchored in God don’t sink. When we change the way we think, we can change the way we feel and live, even if our circumstances remain the same. Intentionally embracing the opportunity to experience a transformed heart and a renewed mind opens the door for a changed life, because a positive mind will always lead to a more positive life. In Unsinkable Faith, author and Proverbs 31 Ministries speaker Tracie Miles offers hope for women who struggle with negativity. Each chapter explores Tracie’s and other women’s personal stories, showing how they rose above their circumstances by transforming and renewing their minds. Unsinkable Faith is a breath of fresh air for anyone longing for a heart full of joy, an unbreakable smile, and a new, more optimistic perspective on life. This book will equip you to: Replace pessimism with positive thinking by becoming the captain of your thoughts; Learn how true joy and happiness are based on choice, not circumstances; Overcome unhealthy habits of negative thinking by intentionally implementing three easy mind-renewing steps; Stop feeling hopeless and pitiful, and start feeling hope-filled and powerful instead; and Discover that when you change the way you think, you change the way feel, and in turn you can change your life completely.

Book Slept in Beauty

Download or read book Slept in Beauty written by Darla Kim and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2022-03-11 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: / / 2 Slept in Beauty is a description relating to a young girl going into a deep sleep at four years old after being raped and sodomized. The body of the young girl continued to grow and live through thirteen years of horrific abuse; all the while, the young four-year-old girl slept in memory, feeling protected in that sleep, knowing that one day she would wake. She was told to be quiet at every turn, and her voice was silenced. Her family moved from city to city and state to state as the family secret continued, and the little girl kept her voice in silence regarding her experiences. On the outside, one would think she was fine and she would say she was, but the truth is she was broken and could not see a way out. This girl did well in school, joined in groups including cheerleading, choir, and drama, all the while keeping the little girl asleep so no one would ever know the truth. As she got older into her teens and could start to think of a future on her own, she started to see that there could be a way toward independence and escape. During her last year in high school, a major change came in the form of another student who used American Sign Language to communicate as she was deaf. This language intrigued the young woman as a voice within her began to stir. Using American Sign Language had no sound, but the communication could be understood nonetheless. Would it be possible to speak from the silence using these signs, body language, facial expression, and posture? Yes, it was possible and would come to fruition. As this young woman learned sign language, the voice within began to scream to be heard. One day it all came out. The signing of the trauma, the cries, the tears, the questions, the pain and hurt all came out without a voice heard. The four year old was now seventeen, and her voice was finally heard. American Sign Language allowed her to say what could not be said with sound and gave her a voice to live in the truth. Why “slept in beauty”? Because she was protected in that state, and as the scripture of Isaiah 61:3 says, He will give us beauty for ashes in finding good in the midst of so much evil. Her life is a culmination of these events, and her voice is loud and clear now as she advocates on behalf of those who have no voice.

Book excerpt: Bestselling author, speaker, and activist Christine Caine helps you overcome past guilt and live an unashamed life. Shame can take on many forms. It hides in the shadows of the most successful, confident and high-achieving woman who struggles with balancing her work and children, as well as in the heart of the broken, abused and downtrodden woman who has been told that she will never amount to anything. Shame hides in plain sight and can hold us back in ways we do not realize. But Christine Caine wants readers to know something: we can all be free. “I know. I’ve been there,” writes Christine. “I was schooled in shame. It has been my constant companion from my very earliest memories. I see shame everywhere I look in the world, including in the church. It creeps from heart to heart, growing in shadowy places, feeding on itself so that those struggling with it are too shamed to seek help from shame itself.” In Unashamed, Christine reveals the often-hidden consequences of shame—in her own life and the lives of so many Christian women—and invites you to join her in moving from a shame-filled to a shame-free life. In her passionate and candid style, Christine leads you into God’s Word where you will see for yourself how to believe that God is bigger than your mistakes, your inadequacies, your past, and your limitations. He is not only more powerful than anything you’ve done but also stronger than anything ever done to you. You can deal with your yesterday today, so that you can move on to what God has in store for you tomorrow—a powerful purpose and destiny he wants you to fulfill. Join the journey. Lay ahold of the power of Jesus Christ today and step into the future—his future for you—a beautiful, full, life-giving future, where you can even become a shame-lifter to others. Live unashamed!
