Book Two Step Rectification of High Oblique Aerial Photographs

Download or read book Two Step Rectification of High Oblique Aerial Photographs written by F. A. McFarland and published by . This book was released on 1947 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report covers an investigation of the rectification of high oblique aerial photographs in two steps for the purpose of making an evaluation of this method of rectification in comparison with the one-step method. The rectifying projection camera being developed under MP 488 for the rectification of high-oblique aerial photographs is a single-step instrument which will rectify six-inch focal length aerial photographs with tilts up to 70 degrees from the vertical. That is, the rectification will be accomplished in a single projection. The present investigation was made to determine 1) whether the magnification range and the angular coverage of the instrument under development might be effectively increased by making the rectifications in two steps rather than in one, 2) the relative quality of the two-step and one-step rectifications, 3) the practicability of the two-step method of rectification, and 4) whether an automatic focus instrument of low tilt range, such as the Zeiss SEG I, might be used satisfactorily for high-tilt rectification by this method.

Book Rectification of Aerial Photographs on the Photostereograph

Download or read book Rectification of Aerial Photographs on the Photostereograph written by P. S. Aleksandrov and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 5 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the universal method of obtaining map originals on an aerophotographic plan the 'machine' time can be much reduced by eliminating the process of plotting the contours. The value of aerophotographic plans increases when regions with a very large number of contours, and particularly populated areas, are being mapped. However, the instruments at present being used for rectifying aerial photographs do not completely solve the problem of obtaining aerophotographic plans: one of them only permits the rectification of aerial photographs of flat regions, others do not insure high-quality results. F.V. Drobyshev of the TsNIIGAiK (Central Scientific Research Institute of Geodesy, Aerial Surveying and Cartography) has designed a universal instrument -the FSD photostereograph, the preliminary testing of which was described in the journal 'Geodeziya i kartografiya, ' no. 6, 1963. In rectifying aerial photographs on the FSD photostereograph, a model of the terrain is constructed and its outer orientation carried out. Exposure is by means of an orthogonal beam through a slit, the size of which chiefly depends on the relief. In the process of rectification the mark is always kept on the surface of the stereomodel by motion in the direction of the Z axis, in order to eliminate the differences in scale of the aerial photograph due to differences in the camera altitude. If the model is not exactly leveled, the projection will be onto an inclined plane.

Book Small Format Aerial Photography

Download or read book Small Format Aerial Photography written by James S. Aber and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2010-05-28 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the need for geographical data rapidly expands in the 21st century, so too do applications of small-format aerial photography for a wide range of scientific, commercial and governmental purposes. Small-format Aerial Photography (SFAP) presents basic and advanced principles and techniques with an emphasis on digital cameras. Unmanned platforms are described in considerable detail, including kites, helium and hot-air blimps, model airplanes, and paragliders. Several case studies, primarily drawn from the geosciences, are presented to demonstrate how SFAP is actually used in various applications. Many of these integrate SFAP with ground-based investigations as well as conventional large-format aerial photography, satellite imagery, and other kinds of geographic information. Full-color photographs throughout Case studies from around the globe Techniques presented allow for image resolution impossible to match via traditional aerial photography or satellite datasets Glossary clarifies key terms
