Book The Practical Aspect of Tropical Meteorology Volume II Notes on the Tropical Pacific and Southeast Asia

Download or read book The Practical Aspect of Tropical Meteorology Volume II Notes on the Tropical Pacific and Southeast Asia written by C. S. Ramage and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report is designed to supplement other texts on tropical meteorology. It makes use of new observational material and accords the synoptic features of the monsoons more attention than they have received in the past. Hints on analysis, and the uses of auxiliary charts and continuity are followed by a chapter on the physical geography of the Pacific and a gazetteer describing the locations and environments of observing stations. Chapter 3 tabulates monthly mean resultant winds, steadiness and other derived data at standard pressure levels for 34 sounding stations. Chapter 4 which broadly considers the climatology of the region, leads to more detailed discussions of the synoptic climatology of the tropospheric field of motion in the central Pacific (Chapter 5) and of the synoptic climatology of the China Seas and southeast Asia (Chapter 6). Appendices amplify the topics covered in this chapter. The final chapters are devoted to tropical cloud physics, local effects and aerial weather reconnaissance. (Author).

Book East Asia And Western Pacific Meteorology And Climate Selected Papers Of The Fourth Conference

Download or read book East Asia And Western Pacific Meteorology And Climate Selected Papers Of The Fourth Conference written by Chih-pei Chang and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2002-03-07 with total page 454 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is a collection of selected papers of the Fourth Conference on East Asian and Western Pacific meteorology and climate. It covers remote sensing, atmospheric physics and chemistry, and the impact of aircraft emissions on atmospheric composition, as well as traditional topics like typhoons, rainstorms, monsoons and climate. In July 1989 the first conference in this series took place in Hong Kong. It was run with the innovative bilingual approach, which allowed both Chinese- and English-speaking scientists from various regious of East Asia and across the Pacific to come together, and share and discuss their research. It also proved to be an invaluable networking opportunity leading to a rapid growth of interaction and cooperation among a diverse group of scientists in the decade that followed. The breadth and depth of the presentations at the Fourth Conference was a testimony to the coming of age of this series of conferences, marking the tenth anniversary of an endeavor that had a modest beginning.

Book Forecasters Guide to Tropical Meteorology

Download or read book Forecasters Guide to Tropical Meteorology written by Gary D. Atkinson and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A practical manual for training and reference use of USAF weather forecasters who will work in the tropics, it covers basic facts of climatology, circulation, synoptic models, analysis and forecasting, application throughout the tropics. A broad survey is made of the literature, evaluated in light of the experience of the author. Physical factors controlling tropical circulations are briefly discussed. The data sources for synoptic purposes are reviewed. Climatology of pressure, winds, temperature, humidity, clouds, rainfall and disturbances is presented in a form specially suitable for forecasters. Analysis and for forecasting of disturbances, cyclones, severe weather, terminal weather, etc., are treated at length. Emphasis is placed on uses of climatology and satellite cloud photos. Over 230 figures adapted from the literature or prepared by the author serve to illustrate all the essential facts and principles discussed. A summary of the state of art and future outlook of tropical meteorology is included.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Asia and the Pacific continues to be exposed to climate change impacts. Home to the majority of the world's poor, the population of the region is particularly vulnerable to those impacts. Unabated warming could largely diminish previous achievements of economic development and improvements, putting the future of the region at risk. Read the most recent projections pertaining to climate change and climate change impacts in Asia and the Pacific, and the consequences of these changes to human systems, particularly for developing countries. This report also highlights gaps in the existing knowledge and identifies avenues for continued research.
