Download or read book Notes on Elements of Analytical Solid Geometry Classic Reprint written by Charles S. Venable and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-11-28 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Notes on Elements of (Analytical) Solid Geometry The projection of a line on a plane is the line containing the projections of its points on the plane. When one line or several lines connected together enclose a plane area, the area enclosed by the projection of the lines is called the projection of the first area. The idea of projection may be in the case of the straight line thus extended: if from the extremities of any limited straight line we draw perpendiculars to a second line, the portion of the latter intercepted between the feet of the perpendiculars is called the projection of the limited line on the second line. Book Introduction to Finite Element Analysis for Engineers

Download or read book Introduction to Finite Element Analysis for Engineers written by Saad A. Ragab and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2024-08-23 with total page 773 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Now in its second edition, Introduction to Finite Element Analysis for Engineers is an essential introduction to FEA as a method to solve differential equations. With many practical examples focusing on both solid mechanics and fluid mechanics, it includes problems for both applications. Using a structure of classes of differential equations, the book also includes MATLAB® codes and aims to build a comprehensive understanding of FEA and its applications in modern engineering. New chapters present finite-element models of a system of partial differential equations in two or more independent variables typified by problems in theory of elasticity and plates. Chapter ten presents the finite element method for a nonlinear Mindlin-Reissner plate, and panel flutter is included as a typical example of fluid-structure interactions. The book demonstrates the power and versatility of FEA as a tool with a large number of examples of practical engineering problems. These problems range from those which can be solved without a computer, to those requiring MATLAB® or Python. With applications in civil, mechanical, aerospace, and biomedical engineering, the textbook is ideal for senior undergraduate and first-year graduate students and also aligns with mathematics courses.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Introduces the basic concepts of FEM in an easy-to-use format so that students and professionals can use the method efficiently and interpret results properly Finite element method (FEM) is a powerful tool for solving engineering problems both in solid structural mechanics and fluid mechanics. This book presents all of the theoretical aspects of FEM that students of engineering will need. It eliminates overlong math equations in favour of basic concepts, and reviews of the mathematics and mechanics of materials in order to illustrate the concepts of FEM. It introduces these concepts by including examples using six different commercial programs online. The all-new, second edition of Introduction to Finite Element Analysis and Design provides many more exercise problems than the first edition. It includes a significant amount of material in modelling issues by using several practical examples from engineering applications. The book features new coverage of buckling of beams and frames and extends heat transfer analyses from 1D (in the previous edition) to 2D. It also covers 3D solid element and its application, as well as 2D. Additionally, readers will find an increase in coverage of finite element analysis of dynamic problems. There is also a companion website with examples that are concurrent with the most recent version of the commercial programs. Book An Introduction to Analytic Functions

Download or read book An Introduction to Analytic Functions written by John Sheridan Mac Nerney and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-05-30 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When first published in 1959, this book was the basis of a two-semester course in complex analysis for upper undergraduate and graduate students. J. S. Mac Nerney was a proponent of the Socratic, or “do-it-yourself” method of learning mathematics, in which students are encouraged to engage in mathematical problem solving, including theorems at every level which are often regarded as “too difficult” for students to prove for themselves. Accordingly, Mac Nerney provides no proofs. What he does instead is to compose and arrange the investigation in his own unique style, so that a contextual proof is always available to the persistent student who enjoys a challenge. The central idea is to empower students by allowing them to discover and rely on their own mathematical abilities. This text may be used in a variety of settings, including: the usual classroom or seminar, but with the teacher acting mainly as a moderator while the students present their discoveries, a small-group setting in which the students present their discoveries to each other, and independent study. The Editors, William E. Kaufman (who was Mac Nerney’s last PhD student) and Ryan C. Schwiebert, have composed the original typed Work into LaTeX ; they have updated the notation, terminology, and some of the prose for modern usage, but the organization of content has been strictly preserved. About this Book, some new exercises, and an index have also been added.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The second edition of An Introduction to Nonlinear Finite Element Analysis has the same objective as the first edition, namely, to facilitate an easy and thorough understanding of the details that are involved in the theoretical formulation, finite element model development, and solutions of nonlinear problems. The book offers an easy-to-understand treatment of the subject of nonlinear finite element analysis, which includes element development from mathematical models and numerical evaluation of the underlying physics. The new edition is extensively reorganized and contains substantial amounts of new material. Chapter 1 in the second edition contains a section on applied functional analysis. Chapter 2 on nonlinear continuum mechanics is entirely new. Chapters 3 through 8 in the new edition correspond to Chapter 2 through 8 of the first edition, but with additional explanations, examples, and exercise problems. Material on time dependent problems from Chapter 8 of the first edition is absorbed into Chapters 4 through 8 of the new edition. Chapter 9 is extensively revised and it contains up to date developments in the large deformation analysis of isotropic, composite and functionally graded shells. Chapter 10 of the first edition on material nonlinearity and coupled problems is reorganized in the second edition by moving the material on solid mechanics to Chapter 12 in the new edition and material on coupled problems to the new chapter, Chapter 10, on weak-form Galerkin finite element models of viscous incompressible fluids. Finally, Chapter 11 in the second edition is entirely new and devoted to least-squares finite element models of viscous incompressible fluids. Chapter 12 of the second edition is enlarged to contain finite element models of viscoelastic beams. In general, all of the chapters of the second edition contain additional explanations, detailed example problems, and additional exercise problems. Although all of the progr

Book TEXTBOOK OF FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS

Download or read book TEXTBOOK OF FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS written by P. SESHU and published by PHI Learning Pvt. Ltd.. This book was released on 2003-01-01 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Designed for a one-semester course in Finite Element Method, this compact and well-organized text presents FEM as a tool to find approximate solutions to differential equations. This provides the student a better perspective on the technique and its wide range of applications. This approach reflects the current trend as the present-day applications range from structures to biomechanics to electromagnetics, unlike in conventional texts that view FEM primarily as an extension of matrix methods of structural analysis. After an introduction and a review of mathematical preliminaries, the book gives a detailed discussion on FEM as a technique for solving differential equations and variational formulation of FEM. This is followed by a lucid presentation of one-dimensional and two-dimensional finite elements and finite element formulation for dynamics. The book concludes with some case studies that focus on industrial problems and Appendices that include mini-project topics based on near-real-life problems. Postgraduate/Senior undergraduate students of civil, mechanical and aeronautical engineering will find this text extremely useful; it will also appeal to the practising engineers and the teaching community.
