Book excerpt: Mukouda Tsuyoshi – alias, ‘Mukohda’ – was an ordinary Japanese salaryman until he was summoned to a fantasy world of swords and magic. Mukohda’s unique skill made him the only person in this world with access to modern Japanese products, but the real reason he caught the attention of the legendary magic beast, Fenrir, was his ability to cook delicious food! Now with a ludicrously overpowered Fenrir and a baby slime in tow, Mukohda and friends continue their laid-back journey in search of easy-living in a new kingdom. In spite of his best efforts, it seems Mukohda can’t help but get wrapped up in the adventurer lifestyle. Will this reluctant “hero” win fame, fortune, and fair maidens while he tries to fly under the radar? With food this good, he’s bound to make new friends whether he likes it or not — much to the dismay of his number 1 fan, Ninrir, the goddess with a sweet tooth. Unfortunately for her, she isn’t the only denizen of the divine realm to take notice of Mukohda’s access to otherworld goods and sweets, and the other goddesses might have demands of their own!

Any class but the noisy class will do! A young girl is about to enter the third grade, but this year she's put into Ms. Johnson's noisy class. Everything about the noisy class is odd. While all the other classes are quiet, Ms. Johnson sings and the kids chatter all day. The door is always closed, yet sounds from it can be heard in the hallway. With summer coming to an end and school starting, the girl realizes that soon she'll be going to the noisy class. What will school be like now? Featuring the honest and delightful humor of debut author Angela Shanté and the bold, graphic imagery of debut illustrator Alison Hawkins, The Noisy Classroom encourages those with first-day jitters to reevaluate a scary situation by looking at it from a different angle and to embrace how fun school can be, even in nontraditional ways.
Download or read book A Loud but Noisy Signal written by Marius R. Busemeyer and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2020-09-03 with total page 383 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This path-breaking addition to the Comparative Politics of Education series studies the influence of public opinion on the contemporary politics of education reform in Western Europe. The authors analyze new data from a survey of public opinion on education policy across eight countries, and they also provide detailed case studies of reform processes based on interviews with policy-makers and stakeholders. The book's core finding is that public opinion has the greatest influence in a world of 'loud' politics, when salience is high and attitudes are coherent. In contrast, when issues are salient but attitudes are conflicting, the signal of public opinion turns 'loud, but noisy' and party politics have a stronger influence on policy-making. In the case of 'quiet' politics, when issue salience is low, interest groups are dominant. This book is required reading for anyone seeking to make sense of policy-makers' selective responsiveness to public demands and concerns.
