Download or read book Constitutive Relation in High Very High Strain Rates written by Kozo Kawata and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The IUTAM Symposium on Constitutive Relation in High/Very High Strain Rates (CRHVHSR) was held October 16 - 19, 1995, at Seminar House, Science University of Tokyo, under the sponsorship of IUTAM, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, The Commemorative Association for the Japan World Exposition (1970), Inoue Foundation for Science, The Japan Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences, and Science University of Tokyo. The proposal to hold the symposium was accepted by the General Assembly of IUT AM held in Haifa, Israel, in August 1992, and the scientists mentioned below were appointed by the Bureau of IUTAM to serve as members of the Scientific Committee. The main object of the symposium was to make a general survey of recent developments in the research of constitutive relations in high and very high strain rates and related problems in high velocity solid mechanics, and to explore further new ideas for dealing with unresolved problems of a fundamental nature as well as of practical importance. The subjects covered theoretical, experimental, and numerical fields in the above-mentioned problems in solids, covering metals, polymers, ceramics, and composites. Emphasis was given to the following fields: 1. Material characterization of solids in high velocity deformation, experimental techniques, typical data obtained by these techniques, modeling, and constitutive relations 2. Strain rate dependent elasto-visco-plastic stress waves 3. Crack initiation, propagation, and dynamic fracture toughness 4. Dynamic stress concentration 5. Structural dynamics in impact and constitutive relations of solids 6.

Book High Velocity Impact Dynamics

Download or read book High Velocity Impact Dynamics written by Jonas A. Zukas and published by Wiley-Interscience. This book was released on 1990-11-08 with total page 968 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This compendium of mathematical techniques for the modeling and simulation of high-velocity impacts presents the various analytical and experimental aspects of impact dynamics and describes the responses of a variety of materials and structures under impact. Coverage is extended beyond that of the author's Impact Dynamics and deals with new topics in impacts involving inert materials, including the dynamic response to energetic and inert materials. Treatment uses classical mechanics along with the conservation laws, combined with failure analysis.

Book Metal Forming and Impact Mechanics

Download or read book Metal Forming and Impact Mechanics written by S. R. Reid and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-07-29 with total page 395 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Metal Forming and Impact Mechanics reviews significant developments concerning the mechanics of metal forming and impact. Topics covered include the kinematics of steady plane flows in elastoplastic media; contact zone and friction coefficient in hot-rolling; and plastic deformation of porous materials. Developments in the use of superplastic alloys, the use of metal tubes as impact energy absorbers, and fracturing of explosively loaded solids are also discussed. This book has 18 chapters divided equally between the broad headings of metal forming and impact mechanics. The section on metal forming mechanics includes papers that explore an upper bound approach to metal forming processes; rotary forming of rings under kinematic constraints; and microcomputer programs for rolling and extrolling. The section on impact mechanics examines the use of elementary approximation techniques to study plastic deformation in pulse loaded structures; static and dynamic axial crushing of circular and square tubes; and shear-control fragmentation of explosively loaded steel cylinders. This monograph will be of value to structural and mechanical engineers, metallurgists, and materials scientists and technologists, as well as to those active in the field of solid mechanics.

Book Theoretical foundation for large scale computations for nonlinear material behavior

Download or read book Theoretical foundation for large scale computations for nonlinear material behavior written by S. Nemat-Nassar and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains the proceedings of a workshop on the Theoretical Founda tion for Large-Scale Computations of Nonlinear Material Behavior, held under the auspices of the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Defense Advance Re search Projects Agency (DARPA), at Northwestern University, October 24-26, 1983. The main objective of this workshop was to provide a forum for the exchange of information and views on major issues relating to the fundamentals of character izing the inelastic constitutive material behavior. Comments on the Aims of the Workshop, by Drs. William Snowden and Thomas Bache, pp. 1-5, outline reasons for holding this workshop, and provide further background. The format of the workshop was designed to optimize the interaction between researchers whose primary interest is material characterization and numerical analysts whose primary interest is the development and practical use of large computer codes. The program of the workshop and a list of the workshop partic ipants are found at the end of these proceedings.
