Book Quantization Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations and Operator Algebra

Download or read book Quantization Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations and Operator Algebra written by William Arveson and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1996 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the outstanding recent progress in this important and challenging field and presents general background for the scientific context and specifics regarding key difficulties. Quantization is developed in the context of rigorous nonlinear quantum field theory in four dimensions and in connection with symplectic manifold theory and random Schrödinger operators. Nonlinear wave equations are exposed in relation to recent important progress in general relativity, in purely mathematical terms of microlocal analysis, and as represented by progress on the relativistic Boltzmann equation. Most of the developments in this volume appear in book form for the first time. The resulting work is a concise and informative way to explore the field and the spectrum of methods available for its investigation.

Book Mechanics From Theory to Computation

Download or read book Mechanics From Theory to Computation written by Journal of Nonlinear Science and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 533 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Starting in 1996, a sequence of articles appeared in the Journal of Nonlinear Science dedicated to the memory of one of its original editors, Juan-Carlos Simo, Applied Me chanics, Stanford University. Sadly, Juan-Carlos passed away at an early age in 1994. We lost a brilliant colleague and a wonderful person. These articles are collected in the present volume. Many of them are updated and corrected especially for this occasion. These essays are in areas of scientific interest of Juan-Carlos, including mechanics (particles, rigid bodies, fluids, elasticity, plastic ity, etc.), geometry, applied dynamics, and, of course, computation. His interests were extremely broad-he did not see boundaries between computation, mathematics, me chanics, and dynamics, and, in that sense, he ideally reflected the spirit of the journal and many of the most exciting areas of current scientific interest. Juan-Carlos was one of those select and gifted people who could cross interdisci plinary boundaries with extremely high quality and productive interactions of lasting value. His contributions, ranging from concrete engineering problems to fundamental mathematical theorems in geometric mechanics, are remarkable. In current conferences as well as in scientific books and articles, and over a wide range of subjects, one frequently hears how his ideas as well as specific results are often used and quoted-this is one indication of just how profound and fundamental his work has impacted the community.

Book Pseudo Differential Operators

Download or read book Pseudo Differential Operators written by Hans G. Feichtinger and published by Springer. This book was released on 2008-08-15 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pseudo-differential operators were initiated by Kohn, Nirenberg and Hörmander in the sixties of the last century. Beside applications in the general theory of partial differential equations, they have their roots also in the study of quantization first envisaged by Hermann Weyl thirty years earlier. Thanks to the understanding of the connections of wavelets with other branches of mathematical analysis, quantum physics and engineering, such operators have been used under different names as mathematical models in signal analysis since the last decade of the last century. The volume investigates the mathematics of quantization and signals in the context of pseudo-differential operators, Weyl transforms, Daubechies operators, Wick quantization and time-frequency localization operators. Applications to quantization, signal analysis and the modern theory of PDE are highlighted.

Book Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations in Engineering and Applied Science

Download or read book Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations in Engineering and Applied Science written by Robert L. Sternberg and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1980-06-01 with total page 512 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this volume are twenty-eight papers from the Conference on Nonlinear Partial Differential Equationsin Engineering and Applied Science, sponsored by the Office of Naval Research and held at the Universityof Rhode Island in June, 1979. Included are contributions from an international group of distinguishedmathematicians, scientists, and engineers coming from a wide variety of disciplines and having a commoninterest in the application of mathematics, particularly nonlinear partial differential equations, to realworld problems. The subject matter ranges from almost purely mathematical topics in numerical analysis and bifurcationtheory to a host of practical applications that involve nonlinear partial differential equations, suchas fluid dynamics, nonlinear waves, elasticity, viscoelasticity, hyperelasticity, solitons, metallurgy, shocklessairfoil design, quantum fields, and Darcy's law on flows in porous media.Non/inear Partial Differential Equations in Engineering and Applied Science focuses on a variety oftopics of specialized, contemporary concern to mathematicians, physical and biological scientists, andengineers who work with phenomena that can be described by nonlinear partial differential equations.
