Book Implicit Three dimensional Finite element Formulation for the Nonlinear Structural Response of Reactor Components

Download or read book Implicit Three dimensional Finite element Formulation for the Nonlinear Structural Response of Reactor Components written by and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The formulation of a finite-element procedure for the implicit transient and static analysis of plate/shell type structures in three-dimensional space is described. The triangular plate/shell element can sustain both membrane and bending stresses. Both geometric and material nonlinearities can be treated, and an elastic-plastic material law has been incorporated. The formulation permits the element to undergo arbitrarily large rotations and translations; but, in its present form it is restricted to small strains. The discretized equations of motion are obtained by a stiffness method. An implicit integration algorithm based on trapezoidal integration formulas is used to integrate the discretized equations of motion in time. To ensure numerical stability, an iterative solution procedure with equilibrium checks is used. (auth).

Book Introduction to the Explicit Finite Element Method for Nonlinear Transient Dynamics

Download or read book Introduction to the Explicit Finite Element Method for Nonlinear Transient Dynamics written by Shen R. Wu and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2012-07-30 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A systematic introduction to the theories and formulations of the explicit finite element method As numerical technology continues to grow and evolve with industrial applications, understanding the explicit finite element method has become increasingly important, particularly in the areas of crashworthiness, metal forming, and impact engineering. Introduction to the Explicit Finite Element Method for Nonlinear Transient Dynamics is the first book to address specifically what is now accepted as the most successful numerical tool for nonlinear transient dynamics. The book aids readers in mastering the explicit finite element method and programming code without requiring extensive background knowledge of the general finite element. The authors present topics relating to the variational principle, numerical procedure, mechanical formulation, and fundamental achievements of the convergence theory. In addition, key topics and techniques are provided in four clearly organized sections: • Fundamentals explores a framework of the explicit finite element method for nonlinear transient dynamics and highlights achievements related to the convergence theory • Element Technology discusses four-node, three-node, eight-node, and two-node element theories • Material Models outlines models of plasticity and other nonlinear materials as well as the mechanics model of ductile damage • Contact and Constraint Conditions covers subjects related to three-dimensional surface contact, with examples solved analytically, as well as discussions on kinematic constraint conditions Throughout the book, vivid figures illustrate the ideas and key features of the explicit finite element method. Examples clearly present results, featuring both theoretical assessments and industrial applications. Introduction to the Explicit Finite Element Method for Nonlinear Transient Dynamics is an ideal book for both engineers who require more theoretical discussions and for theoreticians searching for interesting and challenging research topics. The book also serves as an excellent resource for courses on applied mathematics, applied mechanics, and numerical methods at the graduate level.

Book Nonlinear Finite Elements for Continua and Structures

Download or read book Nonlinear Finite Elements for Continua and Structures written by Ted Belytschko and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-01-07 with total page 834 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nonlinear Finite Elements for Continua and Structures p>Nonlinear Finite Elements for Continua and Structures This updated and expanded edition of the bestselling textbook provides a comprehensive introduction to the methods and theory of nonlinear finite element analysis. New material provides a concise introduction to some of the cutting-edge methods that have evolved in recent years in the field of nonlinear finite element modeling, and includes the eXtended Finite Element Method (XFEM), multiresolution continuum theory for multiscale microstructures, and dislocation- density-based crystalline plasticity. Nonlinear Finite Elements for Continua and Structures, Second Edition focuses on the formulation and solution of discrete equations for various classes of problems that are of principal interest in applications to solid and structural mechanics. Topics covered include the discretization by finite elements of continua in one dimension and in multi-dimensions; the formulation of constitutive equations for nonlinear materials and large deformations; procedures for the solution of the discrete equations, including considerations of both numerical and multiscale physical instabilities; and the treatment of structural and contact-impact problems. Key features: Presents a detailed and rigorous treatment of nonlinear solid mechanics and how it can be implemented in finite element analysis Covers many of the material laws used in today’s software and research Introduces advanced topics in nonlinear finite element modelling of continua Introduction of multiresolution continuum theory and XFEM Accompanied by a website hosting a solution manual and MATLAB® and FORTRAN code Nonlinear Finite Elements for Continua and Structures, Second Edition is a must-have textbook for graduate students in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, applied mathematics, engineering mechanics, and materials science, and is also an excellent source of information for researchers and practitioners.

Book Nonlinear Finite Element Analysis and Adina

Download or read book Nonlinear Finite Element Analysis and Adina written by K. J. Bathe and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-23 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nonlinear Finite Element Analysis and ADINA contains the proceedings of the Fourth ADINA Conference held at Massachusetts Institute of Technology on June 15-17, 1983. Separating the papers presented in the conference as chapters, this book first elucidates the use of ADINA for analysis of mines with explosive fills. Subsequent chapters explore the use of ADINA in soil mechanics; nonlinear shell analysis; analysis of bond between prestressed steel and concrete; determination and simulation of stable crack growth; offshore structures analysis; modeling of traveling-loads and time-dependent masses; and comparison of two slideline methods. Other notable applications of ADINA are also shown.
