Book Nonlinear Finite Element Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Structures Subjected to Transient Thermal Loads microform

Download or read book Nonlinear Finite Element Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Structures Subjected to Transient Thermal Loads microform written by Cheng En Zhou and published by National Library of Canada = Bibliothèque nationale du Canada. This book was released on 2004 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The results obtained from four numerical tests indicate that the proposed computational scheme and the implemented codes are accurate and reliable. The need to incorporate fire loads into reinforced concrete structural design has long been recognized, and the traditional design method for structural fire resistance has been widely practiced by engineers mainly because of its simplicity. To simulate the structure's response to thermal loads, this research develops and implements a 2D nonlinear finite element transient analysis for reinforced concrete structures subjected to high temperatures. The proposed computational scheme takes into account time-varying thermal loads, heat-of-hydration effects, and temperature-dependent material properties. Algorithms for calculating the closed-form element stiffness for a quadrilateral element with a fully-populated material stiffness are also developed. Then, the capability of a 2D nonlinear finite element transient thermal analysis is implemented into program VecTor2(c), a nonlinear analysis program for 2D reinforced concrete membranes.

This book was released on 2011-05-20 with total page 331 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Concrete as a construction material goes through both physical and chemical changes under extreme elevated temperatures. As one of the most widely used building materials, it is important that both engineers and architects are able to understand and predict its behavior in under extreme heat conditions. Brief and readable, this book provides the tools and techniques to properly analysis the effects of high temperature of reinforced concrete which will lead to more stable, safer structures. Based on years of the author’s research, Reinforced Concrete at Elevated Temperatures four part treatment starts with an unambiguous and thorough exposition of the mechanical behaviors of materials at elevated temperature followed by a discussion of Temperature field of member sections, Mechanical behaviors of members and structures at elevated temperature, ending with Theoretical analysis and practical calculation methods. The book provides unique insight into: Coupling thermal-mechanical constitutive relation of concrete Exceptional analyses of beams and columns of rectangular section with three surfaces and two adjacent surfaces exposing to high temperature Measurement and analysis of redistribution of internal forces of statically indeterminate structure during heating-loading process Finite element analysis and calculation charts for two-dimensional temperature field of structural members Finite element analysis and simplified calculation method for reinforced concrete structure at elevated temperature With this book, engineers and architects can effectively analyze the effect of high temperature on concrete and materials which will lead to better designs of fire resistant and damage evaluation and treatment after fire. Book Finite Element Analysis of Prestressed Concrete Structures Using Post Tensioning Steel

Download or read book Finite Element Analysis of Prestressed Concrete Structures Using Post Tensioning Steel written by Yu Huang and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2020-02 with total page 301 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book details the theory and applications of finite element (FE) modeling of post-tensioned (PT) concrete structures, and provides the updated MATLAB code (as of 2019). The challenge of modeling PT prestressed concrete structures lies in the treatment of the interface between the concrete and prestressing tendons. Using MATLAB, this study develops an innovative nonlinear FE formulation which incorporates contact techniques and engineering elements to considerably reduce the need of computational power. This FE formulation has the ability to simulate different PT frame systems with fully bonded, fully unbonded or partially bonded tendons, as well as actual sliding behavior and frictional effects in the tendons. It also allows for the accurate simulation of anchor seating loss.

Book Impact Response of Reinforced Concrete microform an Experimental and Numerical Investigation

Download or read book Impact Response of Reinforced Concrete microform an Experimental and Numerical Investigation written by David Ho and published by Library and Archives Canada = Bibliothèque et Archives Canada. This book was released on 2004 with total page 534 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Impact and impulsive loading on reinforced concrete structures have been a topic of investigation for many decades. The research program described in this report implemented strength-increase relationships from various researchers into a nonlinear finite element analysis (NLFEA) program that is currently in development. Modifications to this numerical tool and the overall performance of the numerical tool itself were verified with experimental data from published literature as well as data from the pilot study experiment of this research program. The pilot study program showed support loads were close to four times higher than the static capacity and the dynamic displacement differed from the static displacement during the initial stages of impact. In addition, it has been determined that strength-increase relationships are functioning properly within the finite element code and the inertial effects of reinforced concrete beams are captured properly.
