Book Nonlinear and Two Dimensional Seismic Response Studies of Solid waste Landfills

Download or read book Nonlinear and Two Dimensional Seismic Response Studies of Solid waste Landfills written by University of California, Berkeley and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Investigates the seismic response of municipal solid-waste landfills. Methods used to evaluate the seismic response of earth dams are inappropriate for solid-waste landfills. While landfills share some similar characteristics with earth dams, they are vastly different geotechnical structures in many ways. They generally cover a large aerial extent and have unique geometries that affect seismic response. Landfills are extremely heterogeneous and the static and dynamic material properties of municipal solid-waste are not fully understood.
