Book Mutations of Alternative Algebras

Download or read book Mutations of Alternative Algebras written by Alberto Elduque and published by . This book was released on 1994-03-31 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Around 1978, a mutation of associative algebras was introduced to generalize the formalism of classical mechanics as well as quantum mechanics. This volume presents the first book devoted to a self-contained and detailed treatment of the mathematical theory of mutation algebras, which is based on research in this subject over the past fifteen years. The book also deals with a broader class of algebras, mutations of alternative algebras, which are a natural generalization of mutations of associative algebras. A complete structure theory, including automorphisms, derivations and certain representations, is given for mutations of artinian alternative algebras, and, in particular, of Cayley--Dickson algebras. Since the mutation algebras do not form a variety, the structure theory explored in this volume takes quite a different approach from the standard theory of nonassociative algebras and provides an important interplay with the theory of noncommutative (associative) algebras through mutation parameters. New simple algebras and open problems presented in this book will stimulate additional research and applications in the area. This book will be valuable to graduate students, mathematicians and physicists interested in applications of algebras.

Book On The Role Of Division Jordan And Related Algebras In Particle Physics

Download or read book On The Role Of Division Jordan And Related Algebras In Particle Physics written by Feza Gursey and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1996-11-22 with total page 483 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph surveys the role of some associative and non-associative algebras, remarkable by their ubiquitous appearance in contemporary theoretical physics, particularly in particle physics. It concerns the interplay between division algebras, specifically quaternions and octonions, between Jordan and related algebras on the one hand, and unified theories of the basic interactions on the other. Selected applications of these algebraic structures are discussed: quaternion analyticity of Yang-Mills instantons, octonionic aspects of exceptional broken gauge, supergravity theories, division algebras in anyonic phenomena and in theories of extended objects in critical dimensions. The topics presented deal primarily with original contributions by the authors.

Download or read book The Lie Algebras su N written by Walter Pfeifer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2003-07-23 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lie algebras are efficient tools for analyzing the properties of physical systems. Concrete applications comprise the formulation of symmetries of Hamiltonian systems, the description of atomic, molecular and nuclear spectra, the physics of elementary particles and many others. This work gives an introduction to the properties and the structure of the Lie algebras su(n). The book features an elementary (matrix) access to su(N)-algebras, and gives a first insight into Lie algebras. Student readers should be enabled to begin studies on physical su(N)-applications, instructors will profit from the detailed calculations and examples.

Book Non associative Structures and Other Related Structures

Download or read book Non associative Structures and Other Related Structures written by Florin Felix Nichita and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2020-06-16 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Leonhard Euler (1707–1783) was born in Basel, Switzerland. Euler's formula is a mathematical formula in complex analysis that establishes the fundamental relationship between the trigonometric functions and the complex exponential function. When its variable is the number pi, Euler's formula evaluates to Euler's identity. On the other hand, the Yang–Baxter equation is considered the most beautiful equation by many scholars. In this book, we study connections between Euler’s formulas and the Yang–Baxter equation. Other interesting sections include: non-associative algebras with metagroup relations; branching functions for admissible representations of affine Lie Algebras; super-Virasoro algebras; dual numbers; UJLA structures; etc.

Book Noncommutative Geometry and Particle Physics

Download or read book Noncommutative Geometry and Particle Physics written by Walter D. van Suijlekom and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-07-21 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an introduction to noncommutative geometry and presents a number of its recent applications to particle physics. It is intended for graduate students in mathematics/theoretical physics who are new to the field of noncommutative geometry, as well as for researchers in mathematics/theoretical physics with an interest in the physical applications of noncommutative geometry. In the first part, we introduce the main concepts and techniques by studying finite noncommutative spaces, providing a “light” approach to noncommutative geometry. We then proceed with the general framework by defining and analyzing noncommutative spin manifolds and deriving some main results on them, such as the local index formula. In the second part, we show how noncommutative spin manifolds naturally give rise to gauge theories, applying this principle to specific examples. We subsequently geometrically derive abelian and non-abelian Yang-Mills gauge theories, and eventually the full Standard Model of particle physics, and conclude by explaining how noncommutative geometry might indicate how to proceed beyond the Standard Model.
