Book Non Semisimple Topological Quantum Field Theories for 3 Manifolds with Corners

Download or read book Non Semisimple Topological Quantum Field Theories for 3 Manifolds with Corners written by Thomas Kerler and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-07-01 with total page 381 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the (to date) most general approach to combinatorial constructions of topological quantum field theories (TQFTs) in three dimensions. The authors describe extended TQFTs as double functors between two naturally defined double categories: one of topological nature, made of 3-manifolds with corners, the other of algebraic nature, made of linear categories, functors, vector spaces and maps. Atiyah's conventional notion of TQFTs as well as the notion of modular functor from axiomatic conformal field theory are unified in this concept. A large class of such extended modular catergory is constructed, assigning a double functor to every abelian modular category, which does not have to be semisimple.

Book Sharp Real Part Theorems

Download or read book Sharp Real Part Theorems written by Gershon Kresin and published by Springer. This book was released on 2007-03-05 with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains a coherent point of view on various sharp pointwise inequalities for analytic functions in a disk in terms of the real part of the function on the boundary circle or in the disk itself. Book Beyond Partial Differential Equations

Download or read book Beyond Partial Differential Equations written by Horst Reinhard Beyer and published by Springer. This book was released on 2007-04-10 with total page 291 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces the treatment of linear and nonlinear (quasi-linear) abstract evolution equations by methods from the theory of strongly continuous semigroups. The theoretical part is accessible to graduate students with basic knowledge in functional analysis, with only some examples requiring more specialized knowledge from the spectral theory of linear, self-adjoint operators in Hilbert spaces. Emphasis is placed on equations of the hyperbolic type which are less often treated in the literature.

Book Stable Approximate Evaluation of Unbounded Operators

Download or read book Stable Approximate Evaluation of Unbounded Operators written by C. W. Groetsch and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Spectral theory of bounded linear operators teams up with von Neumann’s theory of unbounded operators in this monograph to provide a general framework for the study of stable methods for the evaluation of unbounded operators. An introductory chapter provides numerous illustrations of unbounded linear operators that arise in various inverse problems of mathematical physics. Before the general theory of stabilization methods is developed, an extensive exposition of the necessary background material from the theory of operators on Hilbert space is provided. Several specific stabilization methods are studied in detail, with particular attention to the Tikhonov-Morozov method and its iterated version.

Book Polynomial Representations of GL n

Download or read book Polynomial Representations of GL n written by James A. Green and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-11-30 with total page 167 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The new corrected and expanded edition adds a special appendix on Schensted Correspondence and Littelmann Paths. This appendix can be read independently of the rest of the volume and is an account of the Littelmann path model for the case gln. The appendix also offers complete proofs of classical theorems of Schensted and Knuth.

Book Concentration Inequalities and Model Selection

Download or read book Concentration Inequalities and Model Selection written by Pascal Massart and published by Springer. This book was released on 2007-04-26 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Concentration inequalities have been recognized as fundamental tools in several domains such as geometry of Banach spaces or random combinatorics. They also turn to be essential tools to develop a non asymptotic theory in statistics. This volume provides an overview of a non asymptotic theory for model selection. It also discusses some selected applications to variable selection, change points detection and statistical learning.

Book Hopf Algebras and Congruence Subgroups

Download or read book Hopf Algebras and Congruence Subgroups written by Yorck Sommerhäuser and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2012 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We prove that the kernel of the action of the modular group on the center of a semisimple factorizable Hopf algebra is a congruence subgroup whenever this action is linear. If the action is only projective, we show that the projective kernel is a congruence subgroup. To do this, we introduce a class of generalized Frobenius-Schur indicators and endow it with an action of the modular group that is compatible with the original one.

Book Attractivity and Bifurcation for Nonautonomous Dynamical Systems

Download or read book Attractivity and Bifurcation for Nonautonomous Dynamical Systems written by Martin Rasmussen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-06-08 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although, bifurcation theory of equations with autonomous and periodic time dependence is a major object of research in the study of dynamical systems since decades, the notion of a nonautonomous bifurcation is not yet established. In this book, two different approaches are developed which are based on special definitions of local attractivity and repulsivity. It is shown that these notions lead to nonautonomous Morse decompositions.

Book A Concise Course on Stochastic Partial Differential Equations

Download or read book A Concise Course on Stochastic Partial Differential Equations written by Claudia Prévôt and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-06-08 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These lectures concentrate on (nonlinear) stochastic partial differential equations (SPDE) of evolutionary type. There are three approaches to analyze SPDE: the "martingale measure approach", the "mild solution approach" and the "variational approach". The purpose of these notes is to give a concise and as self-contained as possible an introduction to the "variational approach". A large part of necessary background material is included in appendices.
