Download or read book Spatial Patterns of Noise Pollution and Its Effects in Lahore City written by Isma Younes and published by Anchor Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2017-05 with total page 117 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lahore is one of the cities most effected by uncontrolled noise pollution in Pakistan. The most important factor of noise pollution is the road traffic. The main objective of this study was to analyze and evaluate road traffic noise and to measure its effects on the population of Lahore city. A weighting sound level meter was used in the study. All the measurements were taken at a height of about 1.2 m from the ground at 56 sample sites. The spatial noise pattern was shown in maps. These were also drawn to show buffers dividing areas into moderate, high and extremely high risk zones in accordance with noise risk levels. The maps were additionally divided in day and night time maps, each with graduated symbols. The main day-night values were exceeding the permissible environmental standards used in Pakistan. Therefore, a survey was conducted to study the diseases caused by noise pollution in the areas with highest noise levels.
Download or read book Environmental Pollution Control written by Allan D. McKnight and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-10-29 with total page 291 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1974 this volume brings together contributions from lawyers, a nuclear physicist, a landscape architect, biologist, engineers and a former Inspector of the International Atomic Energy Agency. It covers technical and legal information on air, water, sea, land and noise pollution and provides a comprehensive guide, summary and introduction to the journal literature in separate but relevant disciplines. All of the contributors have specialised in studies in pollution control and contributed to the debate on use and management of the environment.

Download or read book Fundamentals of Noise and Vibration written by Frank Fahy and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1998-10-01 with total page 542 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fundamentals of Noise and Vibration is based on the first semester of the postgraduate Masters' course in Sound and Vibration Studies at the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research, at the University of Southampton. The main objective of the course is to provide students with the skills and knowledge required to practise in the field of noise and vibration control technology. Readers do not need prior formal training in acoustics although a basic understanding of mechanics, fluid dynamics and applied mathematics is required. Many of the chapters use examples of models and forms of analysis to illustrate the principles that they introduce. By pointing toward the practical application of these fundamental principles and methods, the book will benefit those wishing to extend their knowledge and understanding of acoustic and vibration technology for professional purposes. Advanced Applications in Acoustucs, Noise and Vibration serves as a companion volume.

Download or read book The Impact of Noise Pollution written by George Bugliarello and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-18 with total page 486 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Impact of Noise Pollution: A Socio-Technological Introduction explores the areas that contribute to the generation of noise in the environment. Also covered are the different aspects of human life that is being affected by daily exposure to noise. Issues such as the increasing number of people who have impaired hearing are also addressed in the book. The book first gives an introduction to the threats being posed by noise, followed by topics such as the awareness of the people on the detrimental effect of noise; overall effects of noise on the whole body; and effects of noise on the condition of sleep. The sources of noise, such as the surface transportation and motor vehicle, are extensively discussed. Negative psychological effects of noise are also covered. The final chapter of the book is about the reduction of noise produced by motor vehicles. The text is a comprehensive source of information about noise intended for the general reader.
