Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Lost Soul of a Child is one of the most nail biting, heartbreaking, and emotional novels you will ever read. Children are the greatest gift that God could ever give to a woman. They're beautiful, talented in their own way, loving, but most important... innocent. You would think that their cute little faces and chubby little cheeks would be enough to make parents want to fight for them and cherish them, but lately it seems as though the flip has switched and the only people fighting for them are the kids themselves. How many more babies must die or get injured at the hands of the ones who birthed them? Or the ones that their mothers trusted them with? How many more children have to go missing because of their parents' negligence and trustworthiness of total strangers? With so much tragedy in the world surrounding children, awareness is obviously needed. This heart pounding, gut wrenching, tearjerker is centered around two single mothers looking for love. By the time you are done reading these two stories, I hope your eyes open wide enough to fully see the dangers of dating men without running background checks, and that your hearts beat harder for the kids without voices. Imagine falling in love with your Prince Charming only to find out he's a registered sex offender. What would you do if you found out the man you loved wasn't who you thought he was?Jennesia thought she had found true love with her baby's daddy Angel. But Angel wasn't looking for love or interested in settling down. Finding out that she was pregnant threw him for a loop, but he decided to step up and be a father to his child... at the same time making it very clear to Jennesia that they were co-parenting and nothing more. Co-parenting their daughter Kamri proves challenging in the beginning with Jennesia wanting more than Angel was willing to give. Eventually, Angel moved on with another woman, so Jennesia had no choice but to move on too. When Jennesia finally meets Michael Walker, the coach at her daughter's school years later she falls fast and hard. Michael has relocated to a new state to try and escape his past, but he can't escape the urges he continues to have. Will Michael get the help he needs before it's too late? Will Jennesia find out about Michael's past before things escalate? Find out in the story that will guarantee to leave you in tears...

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Richard-Jude Thompson investigates Martin Noth's conclusion about the Deuteronomistic History (DH) that the people of Israel had committed apostasy ceased to obey the law code of Yhwh, and thus lost their land. Scholars have challenged Noth's hypothesis and even the existence of such a history. The present study adopts a thematic reading of the DH as a coherent corpus of writing with a consistent message. A close reading reveals a god, Yhwh, who declares war on other gods and commands his followers to conquer and to sanctify the mountain of the Emorites and the land of Canaan to Yhwh. The sanctification includes the killing of the people living there: "When you attack them, you shall annihilate them entirely. Do not make a treaty with them and do not show mercy to them". Throughout the DH, Yhwh and his spokespersons reward obedience and punish disobedience. Because the disobedient people of Israel fail to enforce Yhwh's command to remove the nations of Canaan, Yhwh enforces imperial law and sentences them to national death and exile. The author hypothesizes that the DH depicts an imperial, military covenant. After a survey of the inscriptions of the second-millennium b.c.e. Levant, the Hittite empire, the Neo-Assyrian empire, and the first-millennium b.c.e Levant, the study concludes with a hypothesis that the evidence points to the ideology of the Neo-Assyrian empire as the historical precedent for the Dtr covenant. The study challenges two presuppositions that underlie both the DH and its scholarship: that of the torahas law and that of Yhwh as a unique god.

Book In the Line of Fire

Download or read book In the Line of Fire written by Pervez Musharraf and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2008-09-04 with total page 610 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is almost unprecedented for a head of state to publish a memoir while still in office. But Pervez Musharraf is no ordinary head of state. As President of Pakistan since 1999, his is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world, and he continues to play a crucial role in the global war on terror. A one-time supporter of the Taliban, a general who fought in several wars, President Musharraf took a decisive turn against militant Islam in 2001. Since then he has survived two assassination attempts; rooted out militants in his own government; helped direct countless raids against al-Qaeda both in his cities and in the mountains; and tracked Osama bin Laden with technical and human intelligence. IN THE LINE OF FIRE is astonishingly revealing and honest about dozens of topics of intense interest to the world. Among its many revelations: exactly how Pakistani authorities tracked down and smashed three major al-Qaeda control centres in the mountains; how al-Qaeda's many-layered structure was revealed after the assassination attempts; Bin Laden's current position within the al-Qaeda hierarchy; what it has been like to deal with Bush and Blair; how Pakistan and India have avoided nuclear confrontation; and much more. The terrible earthquake of 2005, killing nearly 40,000 Pakistanis, is just one chapter in a life and career that has been filled with danger and drama. The worldwide launch of President Musharraf's memoir promises to be a sensation.
