God Blessed and Sanctified the Sabbath (Genesis 2:1-3) 5. God Has Given True Rest to Mankind (Genesis 2:1-3) 6. How Did God Make Us? (Genesis 2:1-3) 7. What Are We Deceived by? (Genesis 3:1-7) 8. We Can Never Be Saved from Sin By Any Man-made Religious Faith (Genesis 4:1-4) 9. Eternal Salvation Foreshadowed In the Sacrifice of Atonement (Genesis 4:1-4) 10. Spiritual Offering versus Carnal Offering (Genesis 4:1-5) 11. We Must Believe in God Based on His Word (Genesis 4:1-5) 12. Let Us Live as Shepherds (Genesis 4:1-5) 13. Only Jesus Christ Was the Perfect Propitiation That Could Blot out the Sins of the World (Genesis 4:1-7) 14. We Must Unite Our Hearts with the Righteousness of God (Genesis 4:1-7) 15. Who Is Abel and Who Is Cain before God? (Genesis 4:1-24) In the Book of Genesis, the purpose for which God created us is contained. When architects design a building or artists draw a painting, they first conceive the work that would be completed in their minds before they actually begin working on their project. Just like this, our God also had our salvation of mankind in His mind even before He created the heavens and the earth, and He made Adam and Eve with this purpose in mind. And God needed to explain to us the domain of Heaven, which is not seen by our eyes of the flesh, by drawing an analogy to the domain of the earth that we can all see and understand. Even before the foundation of the world, God wanted to save mankind perfectly by giving the gospel of the water and the Spirit to everyone’s heart. So although all human beings were made out of dust, they must learn and know the gospel Truth of the water and the Spirit to benefit their own souls. If people continue to live without knowing the dominion of Heaven, they will lose not only the things of the earth, but also everything that belongs to Heaven. Book excerpt: "I form light and create darkness; I make well-being and create calamity; I am the LORD, who does all these things." Isaiah 45:7 When God created the world, he brought perfect order out of what was "without form and void." But with human rebellion against God leading to God's curse, disorder was introduced into creation—disorder that we still see all around us today. Tracing the chaos to cosmos theme from Genesis 1 to Revelation 22, pastor-scholar Sidney Greidanus reveals how God is restoring his creation through Jesus Christ, who has already begun to shine light into the darkness and will one day return to bring peace, order, and restoration once and for all. With discussion questions at the end of each chapter and a fourteen-session reading plan, this book is ideal for small groups as well as individual study.

In these tumultuous times God is going to show Himself strong to a generation that desperately needs to know that Jesus is alive and well. Millions are bound with chains of addiction, sicknesses, and the lies of the enemy, even in the Church. This generation has looked for answers outside of the Word of God, and they are confused, depressed, hopeless, and desperately looking for a breakthrough in their lives. This book will show you how to stand victorious in the fiery trials of life and will encourage you to stand firm in every demonic attack against your life. The Biblical principles on these pages will show you how to break through the barriers that have kept you from the abundant life that Jesus has promised you. On September 29, 2019 at sundown (Rosh Hashanah), we moved into the Jewish year 5780. We have entered into a new decade of declaring the glory of God. This is an era of new beginnings and total victory over the enemy. This is the day and hour of miracles, signs, and wonders, an unparalleled move of the Spirit of God. This is God’s appointed time when He will move in unprecedented ways to free His captive children and reveal His glory to the ends of the earth. Never has there been a season like the one we have just entered into. God is bringing His children out of exile and into His glory!

  • Author : John C. Dancy

Download or read book The Divine Drama written by John C. Dancy and published by James Clarke & Co.. This book was released on 2001 with total page 804 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Bible, as is often said, is the world's least-read bestseller. That is particularly true of the Old Testament. People are often put off by the sheer bulk of the material and its frequently undistinguished quality. John Dancy has selected large samples from most of the canonical and apocryphal books, amounting to just under a third of the total, chosen for artistic merit and intrinsic interest rather than for representative status or theological value. Literature of this stature, he says, should not be restricted to academics and believers. To make it more approachable, the text is presented with commentary on the same page, in smaller type so that attention is never diverted from the original. The commentary mostly concentrates on literary matters but provides technical explanations where necessary. In addition a sensitive and sound introduction also puts the Hebrew writings in the historical context of the ancient Near East. Extracts are used from a variety of translations, preferring the most faithful in language, tone and style for each section. Accuracy is a prime concern, but so is poetry. Above all, the selections bring out the inherent dramatic qualities of the verse dialogues and narrative prose. Nothing quite like this has yet been made available. The Divine Drama will be a welcome addition to the library of any thoughtful reader who cares for good stories.

Book Facing Fear

  • Pages : 304 pages

Download or read book Facing Fear written by Anna Hampton and published by William Carey Publishing. This book was released on 2023-05-16 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Developing an Anti-Fragile Faith Violence against Christ-followers is increasing globally. The lived reality for many Christians involves daily threats, risks, and persecution. When evil casts its shadow on us, and we’re tempted to despair, it is vital to develop anti-fragile faith and the guts to endure in hard places. Facing Fear is a practical guide for believers who long to have bold, mature courage. Cultivating this courage is necessary to endure wisely for Christ’s sake. Anna Hampton integrates exegesis and psychology to explain how humans respond to fear and how the Holy Spirit enables us to make a different choice than our normal. Learning to face our fears, name them, and manage them requires learning specific steps to reduce their impact on us. This book is a pastoral and practical resource for those working to advance the gospel in the world’s most dangerous places. You’ll gain valuable skills to become “shrewd as a serpent” and stand with unshakable faith in unsafe situations. Risk can be an offering of worship. Jesus is worthy of whatever pain you go through, whatever loss you experience, and whatever fears you have.

Book Turning Points and Transformations

Download or read book Turning Points and Transformations written by Christine DeVine and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2011-07-12 with total page 205 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the Irish Cailleach and other shape-shifters of folk legends to modern movie “transformers”; from Ovid’s Metamorphoses to the moment when Gregor Samsa woke up one morning to find himself transformed into an insect in Kafka’s novella; from conversion narratives to slave narratives, turning points and transformations have always been central to literary works and to cultural developments. In fact, with Freytag’s pyramid in mind, one could claim that all literary works focus on the trope of a transformation born of a turning point, because such moments comprise the very essence and vitality of human life and culture. But why are turning points necessarily transformational and in what way? And what brings about those turning points in language, literature, culture and human lives? These are essentially the questions the essays in this volume seek to answer. The contributors examine turning points and transformations – personal, literary and cultural – brought about through the randomness of the universe as well as through human interference, and discuss ways in which humans in general and writers in particular, through their art, experience and cope with the ineluctable results.

Download or read book Abbadon written by Marion Webb-De Sisto and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2007-11-26 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the second book of The Angelic Chronicles trilogy. It tells of the celestial exploits and continuing rivalry between the archangelic brothers, Samael and Seriel, as they begin their exile in Abbadon. This is a dark, hellish place where essence-drinking demons and energy-sapping plant life abound. The story has something for everyone, being a tale of adventure with a sprinkling of romance and some dastardly deeds by Samael, a.k.a. the Devil. Both siblings are separated from their beloved Malkura in this angelic saga and the reader learns how the brothers handle this misfortune. Seriel is resigned to never having won her affection while Samael plots to regain what he has lost. Abbadon is classed in the Fantasy genre, but it possesses a subtle, spiritual undertone. The trilogy books emphasize how free will can easily lead to unwise and even unholy choices. They also document the eternal battle of goodness versus evil, while portraying the celestial hierarchy in a somewhat more controversial manner than religion has previously given to us.
