Book A Time to Knit

Download or read book A Time to Knit written by Ann Kingstone and published by . This book was released on 2012-08-01 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: English designer Ann Kingstone has created a beautiful collection of 12 patterns themed for the seasons of the year. A wonderful variety of garments and accessories is shown to perfection in the stunning photography by Verity Britton. The designs include 3 tops and a coat which have been sized for 32-58 inch chests. A remarkable size range! Shawl lovers have 3 to choose from, while socks, gloves and slippers provide plenty to delight gift knitters. Ann is justifiably known as 'a knitter's designer', creating patterns incorporating up-to-date knitting techniques and construction methods. Thus the patterns in this book are all entirely seamless, and the sweaters and coat are knitted top-down with integrally knitted sleevecaps. As is typical for Ann's work, the collection includes extraordinary lace, cable, colourwork, icord, and feather and fan details. Though Ann's work is generally regarded as best suited to intermediate to advanced knitters, her pattern writing style is so clear that even inexperienced knitters have found themselves able to undertake new techniques following her straightforward, succinct instructions. Japanese short rows, applied icord, and one-row buttonholes are made easy with brief yet careful directions where they occur. The book also contains some musings about appropriate fibre and projects for each of the four seasons. Though Ann is an English designer, the patterns all include imperial as well as metric measurements, and American as well as English knitting terms and needle sizes. However, British spelling is used throughout, and Ann is culturally unable to call a jumper a sweater! If you can forgive her for this you will love this book.

Book The Prayer Coin

Download or read book The Prayer Coin written by Elisa Morgan and published by Our Daily Bread Publishing. This book was released on 2018 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Take a coin. Toss it in the air. Now call it. Heads? Tails? What if you could choose both sides? Elisa Morgan birthed the "prayer coin" idea as she was struggling in her own prayer life. Should she be blatantly honest about her desires or just leave everything to God and let Him lead? An epiphany came when Elisa noticed how Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane: "Take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done" (Luke 22:42). Jesus Christ begged for relief from the trial He faced, while utterly complying with what He knew the Father's will to be. Honesty and abandon--in the same breath. Elisa discovered that Jesus invites us to both. And the emotional back-and-forth, between full-out honesty and "giving it up" in abandon, actually drew her closer to God. If Jesus--our Savior, Mentor, and Friend--could pray both sides of the prayer coin, could we as well?

Book A Story for Small Bear

Download or read book A Story for Small Bear written by Alice B. McGinty and published by Schwartz & Wade. This book was released on 2020-10-13 with total page 0 pages. Autumn is ending and a chilly breeze is drifting in, which can mean only one thing-- it's time to hibernate over the long winter. But before Small Bear does, she'd like for Mama to tell her some stories. Mama agrees, with one condition: all the preparation must get done-- no dilly, no dally. So Small Bear tries to be good, venturing off to find sprigs for her winter bed, splishing and splashing in the stream, and climbing up, up, up into the tall forest trees in search of acorns. When she finally returns home, Small Bear snuggles down with Mama in their den. Did she make it back in time? "You did," Mama answers, and pulls her in close. And then Mama tells the most wonderful tale of a little bear--just like Small Bear--who, while enjoying the world around her, saved just enough time for stories.
