Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Josquin des Prez and His Musical Legacy is the most up-to-date contribution to the research on one of the most important and internationally famous composers of the Renaissance. This monograph offers factual information on the composer as well as insights into his 16th-century and modern reception, a survey of the sources of his music, and a discussion of the thorny issue of authorship. Willem Elders, one of the most distinguished scholars of Josquin's music, also discusses the influence of Gregorian chant as a source of inspiration and explains the various aspects of Josquin's symbolic language. Each individual work (including some of those in the old Josquin edition now considered inauthentic) receives a short discussion of relevant contextual aspects and interesting musical features. Ranges and lengths are given for each work. The style is adapted to the professional musicologist as well as to the 'music lover' and performer. Includes 45 figures and 90 musical examples

Download or read book IBM z OS V2R1 Communications Server TCP IP Implementation Volume 2 Standard Applications written by Rufus P. Credle Jr. and published by IBM Redbooks. This book was released on 2013-12-17 with total page 476 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For more than 40 years, IBM® mainframes have supported an extraordinary portion of the worlds computing work, providing centralized corporate databases and mission-critical enterprise-wide applications. IBM System z®, the latest generation of the IBM distinguished family of mainframe systems, has come a long way from its IBM System/360 heritage. Likewise, its IBM z/OS® operating system is far superior to its predecessors in providing, among many other capabilities, world-class, state-of-the-art support for the TCP/IP Internet protocol suite. TCP/IP is a large and evolving collection of communication protocols managed by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), an open, volunteer organization. Because of its openness, the TCP/IP protocol suite has become the foundation for the set of technologies that form the basis of the Internet. The convergence of IBM mainframe capabilities with Internet technology, connectivity, and standards (particularly TCP/IP) is dramatically changing the face of information technology and driving requirements for ever more secure, scalable, and highly available mainframe TCP/IP implementations. The IBM z/OS Communications Server TCP/IP Implementation series provides understandable, step-by-step guidance for enabling the most commonly used and important functions of z/OS Communications Server TCP/IP. This IBM Redbooks® publication provides useful implementation scenarios and configuration recommendations for many of the TCP/IP standard applications that z/OS Communications Server supports.

Download or read book ABCs of z OS System Programming Volume 13 written by Paul Rogers and published by IBM Redbooks. This book was released on 2012-02-07 with total page 1038 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A major goal of operating systems is to process jobs while making the best use of system resources. Thus, one way of viewing operating systems is as resource managers. Before job processing, operating systems reserve input and output resources for jobs. During job processing, operating systems manage resources such as processors and storage. After job processing, operating systems free all resources used by the completed jobs, making the resources available to other jobs. This process is called resource management. There is more to the processing of jobs than the managing of resources needed by the jobs. At any instant, a number of jobs can be in various stages of preparation, processing, and post-processing activity. To use resources efficiently, operating systems divide jobs into parts. They distribute the parts of jobs to queues to wait for needed resources. Keeping track of where things are and routing work from queue to queue is called workflow management, and is a major function of any operating system. JES3 considers job priorities, device and processor alternatives, and installation-specified preferences in preparing jobs for processing job output. This IBM® Redbooks® publication describes a JES3 environment that includes the following: - Single-system image - Workload balancing - Availability - Control flexibility - Physical planning flexibility.
