Book People Planet and Profit

Download or read book People Planet and Profit written by Samuel O. Idowu and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-05-13 with total page 326 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is no longer the case that it’s only society which benefits from CSR actions. A corporation actually helps itself when operating sustainably and does well because of its triple bottom line actions. The editors of People, Planet and Profit believe that whilst Corporate Social Responsibility is by now a familiar concept to academics or practitioners, insufficient attention has been paid to the end product of CSR in practice, which they define in terms of social and economic developmental effect. The contributions in this edited volume explain the developmental aspect of CSR from a conceptual perspective and provide empirical evidence of the impact of CSR delivery on stakeholders in different corners of the World. The emphasis is on what corporations take from and give back to their stakeholders whilst trying to behave in a corporately responsible fashion. Stakeholders, including employees, customers, host communities, governments and NGOs have diverse interests and expectations of CSR. This gives rise to questions about whether the activities corporations support are the ones today’s stakeholders need; whether the CSR programmes being delivered are adequate; and about the relationship between the corporations’ view of what constitutes CSR and that of the supposed beneficiaries. This book offers thoughtful answers to these questions and assesses the outcomes of corporate activities both in developed and developing countries and regions, in terms of economic progress and social and political advancement.

Book Impeachment in the Nigerian Presidential System

Download or read book Impeachment in the Nigerian Presidential System written by Omololu Fagbadebo and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-08-26 with total page 508 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the politics associated with the exercise of the legislative power of impeachment as intended by the drafters of the Constitution in Nigeria. It interrogates the exercise of the power of impeachment with reference to the intended purpose and examines its failures in the cases of impeachment in the country. It analyzes the interplay of power in the governing institutions in Nigeria’s political system, which involved the understanding of a web of interactions among elites within a political structure relating with others outside its sphere of operation. It presents an analysis of the politics associated with impeachment within the framework of the activities of different political actors operating in different political structures assigned to perform certain statutory roles in the political system. The book shows how the selective use of impeachment provisions as instrument of political vendetta and harassment has weakened the potency of this oversight power of the legislature thereby engendering accountability problem in the Nigerian presidential system.

Book Mainstreaming Diversity Equity and Inclusion as Future Workplace Ethics

Download or read book Mainstreaming Diversity Equity and Inclusion as Future Workplace Ethics written by Raimi, Lukman and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2022-06-10 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Currently, there are several divergent and convergent understandings of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as the term continues to evolve and expand. A number of scholars, practitioners, and international bodies have attempted to define the concept, theoretical underpinnings, dimensions, and sources of DEI as well as its advantages and disadvantages in organizations and workplaces. However, further study is necessary to accurately define the concept of DEI in order to appropriately develop and implement inclusive policies in today’s business world. Mainstreaming Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion as Future Workplace Ethics enhances the historical origin of DEI, considers existing definitions and theories of DEI from a multidisciplinary lens, and provides insightful and valuable materials that are focused on DEI to aid the application of these concepts in theory and practice. Covering topics such as economic growth and policy development, this reference work is ideal for policymakers, ethicists, human resource specialists, business owners, executives, managers, industry professionals, academicians, researchers, instructors, and students.

Book Organizational Stress Around the World

Download or read book Organizational Stress Around the World written by Kajal A. Sharma and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-01-28 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stress is defined as a feeling experienced when a person perceives that demands exceed the personal and social resources the individual is able to mobilize. It can occur due to environmental issues, such as a looming work deadline, or psychological, for example, persistent worry about familial problems. While the acute response to life-threatening circumstances can be life-saving, research reveals that the body’s stress response is largely similar when it reacts to less threatening but chronically present stressors such as work overload, deadline pressures and family conflicts. It is proffered that chronic activation of stress response in the body can lead to several pathological changes such as elevated blood pressure, clogging of blood vessels, anxiety, depression, and addiction. Organizational Stress Around the World: Research and Practice aims to present a sound theoretical and empirical basis for understanding the evolving and changing nature of stress in contemporary organizations. It presents research that expands theory and practice by addressing real-world issues, across cultures and by providing multiple perspectives on organizational stress and research relevant to different occupational settings and cultures. Personal, occupational, organizational, and societal issues relevant to stress identification along with management techniques/approach to confront stress and its associated problems at individual and organizational level are also explored. It will be of value to researchers, academics, practitioners, and students interested in stress management research.
