Book Transitional Justice in Nicaragua 1990 2012

Download or read book Transitional Justice in Nicaragua 1990 2012 written by Astrid Bothmann and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-07-14 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Astrid Bothmann examines historical, political and socioeconomic factors that explain the absence of transitional justice in Nicaragua from 1990 to 2012. The author provides the first systematic analysis of the reasons for the lack of transitional justice in Nicaragua after the end of the Sandinista regime and the civil war (1990). Contrary to other Latin American states of the third wave of democratization, which put the perpetrators of past crimes on trial, established truth commissions, purged political and military officials, and made reparations to the victims, Nicaragua’s first post-war government opted for a policy of national reconciliation that was based on amnesty and oblivion. Subsequent governments followed this course so that the past has not been dealt with until today.

Book Emerging Tools for Emerging Symbioses Using Genomics Applications to Studying Endophytes

Download or read book Emerging Tools for Emerging Symbioses Using Genomics Applications to Studying Endophytes written by Mysore V. Tejesvi and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2017-07-27 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Plants are typically colonized by numerous endophyte species symbiotically without any noticeable disease symptoms. These microbes are abundant, diverse and play critical ecological roles across natural and agricultural ecosystems. Endophytes have attracted the attention of researchers due to their various beneficial effects on plants, especially in agricultural crop species. Genomic tools will enhance our understanding on the growth and nutrition requirements of this host-symbiont relationship. Recent advances in DNA sequencing technologies and bioinformatic pipelines have allowed analyzing the plant microbiome and host-endophyte interaction more effectively with limited bias. Furthermore, various studies have employed and utilized transcriptomic and genomic tools to understand the role of endophytes and their interaction with plant hosts. This electronic book covers various research articles highlighting the important developments on endophytes using transcriptomics, next generation sequencing and genomic tools.

Download or read book Ethereal Nexus The Unveiling of a Mindset written by Akshat Mishra and published by Apex Printers and Publishers. This book was released on 2023-12-05 with total page 414 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the author of this book, I invited you to go through the maze of my changing views on a variety of topics. And the topics may seem random and unrelated to each other, but the discussion is surely valuable. The conclusions given by me are not the statement of ultimate truths, but rather expressions of the changing nature of thought process. You'll find my thoughts on topics ranging from the deep to the natural, from the personal to the global. It's important to understand that these mindsets are not fixed opinions, but rather samples of what I believe is true about various aspects of various topics. They are pieces developed by the different aspects of each issue that have crossed my mind, a complex mix created through instances, interactions, and thoughts. Consider this an invitation for discussion rather than a declaration of definitive facts as we progress through these chapters. Perspectives are flexible to change with evolution. What you'll read here aren't principles, but rather the changing boundaries of my thought process. I request you, dear reader, to approach my ideas with an open mind in an attitude of learning and inquiry. Just as landscapes change as we travel, I hope so can our viewpoints as we relate with a variety of views. May this book serve as an opportunity for your own thoughts, bringing about discussions, and maybe analyzing your own views. So, let us begin on this logical exploration together.

Book excerpt: When her brother was tragically killed years ago, S. C. was angry, vengeful, sad, and confused. She loved her older brother dearly, and set out to find answers about his death. She started writing to heal herself, and the writing led her to new understandings. In addition to the writing, she began seeking answers. This is how Unveiling was born. Unveiling is based on S. C.'s real life experiences as she searched for answers about her brother. In the Unveiling, Champion, the brother, is the main character and his younger little sister, Seeker, is out looking for answers about why he died. When she starts to uncover the truth about her brother's death, she is awakened to a whole new understanding of life, and she learns secrets to living her own life well. More than 20 years in the making, Unveiling started as a painful tragedy, but developed into a gift when Seeker much like S. C. in real life discovered the gift her brother gave in his death. "The purpose of this book, Unveiling, is to share what Ive learned from this experience," S. C. explains. "My brother's passing was a deep gift because it triggered in me a Spiritual journey, as a result of the gifts he showed me. Life is different when you live from a totally different Spiritual perspective. Life has become easier for me because I now have the tools and understanding of how to be in the world, but not of it."

Book Is China an Empire

Download or read book Is China an Empire written by Han Shih Toh and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2016-11-28 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the rapid increase in China's overseas investment and trade, China's global economic clout is increasing by the day. Does China's global economic reach make it an empire in the 21st century? What sort of impact will China's trade and investment have on its global counterparts? Chinese investment projects around the world, from railways in Africa and dams in Latin America to the acquisition of landmark buildings in the US, look to alter global patterns of influence and power. How would other countries react to China's rising international influence? The US government and many Americans deny their country is an empire, although the US status as the leading superpower makes it an empire in all but name. How will China coexist with the US, which has arguably been an imperialist power since the end of World War II? How will the incumbent neo-imperialist power, the US, deal with an emergent China? With its acute analysis of Sino–US relations, the book will interest readers who wish to understand the impact of China on various countries, its place on the world stage as well as the geopolitical implications for all in the 21st century.

Download or read book From Nicaragua written by Bill Cox and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2013-09 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When I was just twenty-eight years old, I was diagnosed with cancer and given no hope. What I thought would be my end was just the beginning of a journey laden with miracles that took me far from my home in Tennessee. From Nicaragua: Principles for Life and Mission chronicles that journey. It is a story that begins with a love that God gave me for a place I had never been and for a people I did not know. With nothing more than that love, I purposed in my heart to go to Nicaragua to stand with its people in their struggle to make a better life for themselves. Following that commitment, God made provision for the planting of a ministry there that has changed tens of thousands of lives, including mine. For me, a special part of that divine provision proceeded from a miraculous reunion with my Central American family whose patriarch, Col. John Alexander Downing, traveled to Nicaragua in 1866 with a fellow Missourian who later became renowned as one of America's most famous literary icons. Embedded in this extraordinary story of God events are principles for your life and mission.
