Non-fungible tokens, or NFTs, are the most important digital innovation since the creation of blockchain and cryptocurrency. NFTs share the best elements of both of these, while also representing an entirely new step forward for technology. But how did NFTs arise, how will they impact art and business in the decades to come, and—perhaps most importantly—how can savvy entrepreneurs position themselves today for success in the NFT-driven world of tomorrow? This guide by industry leader and entrepreneur Marc Beckman delves into the underpinnings of NFT technology in a way that makes the subject clear and comprehensible to the layman, while drawing on Marc’s branding experience to explore exactly how NFTs are poised to change fashion, sport, fine art, and even social justice. In this book he explores how NFTs will create entirely new asset classes and investment possibilities, such as fractional ownership in dynamic works of art. And in doing so, he also tells the story of how he personally discovered and became entranced by this powerful new tool, and where he believes NFTs will take business and branding throughout the 21st century.

Book Non Fungible Tokens

Download or read book Non Fungible Tokens written by Usman W. Chohan and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-04-19 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) have blossomed into an area of immense cultural, investment, and academic interest, and this groundswell of fascination with non-fungible digital tokenization has been accompanied by a variety of attitudes towards their function, purpose, and potential. Some advocates perceive NFTs to be revolutionary in character, reshaping notions of the construction and preservation of unique assets in the digital realm. At the same time, a notable number of skeptics and detractors view the NFT movement as a passing and overhyped fad at best, and a disingenuous ploy in the digital economy at its worst. Given the diversity of views that have emerged in a comparatively brief span, this book draws upon rich academic perspectives on NFTs from a variety of disciplines, including: computer science, cultural studies, mathematics, sociology, linguistics, mass communication, economics, and finance. The book teases out nuances in how NFTs can and should operate, while also pointing to the potential that these non-fungible assets wield in the digital sphere, along with countervailing arguments against their conceptual and functional salience, and perhaps some dangers that they pose. The book considers the longevity and viability of NFTs as sociocultural, technological, and economic phenomenon, while offering estimates of future paths that NFTs might take in each domain and weighs the opposing narratives and strikes balanced assessments of the legal, cultural, technological, economic, and political role of NFTs in modern society. With its panoramic display of analysis on NFTs, the book will be of particular interest to scholars and researchers across a wide number of subjects.

Book The rise of non fungible tokens NFTs in fashion and luxury

Download or read book The rise of non fungible tokens NFTs in fashion and luxury written by Laura Schneider and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2022-11-21 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Master's Thesis from the year 2022 in the subject Business economics - Miscellaneous, grade: 7/8, Bocconi University (Department of Management and Technology), course: M.Sc. International Management, language: English, abstract: The concept of the metaverse and non-fungible tokens has become ubiquitous, and fashion and luxury companies are faced with the need to define a thorough strategy to tackle its business impact. Despite some brands acting at the forefront of NFT adoption, the utility of the infant technology remains unclear. By conducting a 2x2 factorial design experiment, this research creates insights into guidelines for NFT strategies for fashion and luxury companies. First, the high importance of connecting NFT offers with experiences is confirmed. Second, a coherence of values between NFT technology and the luxury industry was illustrated. Finally, the experiment suggested a high difference in perceived utility of real-world asset NFTs and digital asset NFTs for mainstream brands, while the difference could not be proven in the case of luxury companies. In conclusion, the NFT strategy matrix was developed, which introduces four dimensions of brand loyals, brand collectors, fad enthusiasts and fad curious differentiated by their brand loyalty and desired NFT utility. This framework aims to provide a tool for fashion and luxury companies to cater their holistic NFT offering to different customer groups. In general, it is advisable to move from digital asset NFTs toward real-world asset NFTs in order to engage consumers with rare experiences in a virtual or physical setting and deploy the technology as an experiential marketing tool.
