Download or read book DTP s 2016 NFL Draft Guide written by Daniel Parlegreco and published by . This book was released on 2016-03-30 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the ultimate hobby of mine for the last several years, watching film on draft prospects turned into a true passion for me. Spending several hours a day at times watching film, writing reports, analyzing players, and digger deeper into their backgrounds. But what makes me qualified to speak on the topic? And why should you read my reports? Well first of all, I have no pre-conceived ideas of players like MANY of the draft guru's. Many unfortunately copy/paste what others have to say, and use other opinions as their own. Trust me, that is not me! I actually study the film intensively and use that primarily to form my own ideas, whether or not that is the popular opinion. I'm not really any different then you or the average Joe, just that I've turned into a draft obsessive nut the last few years. But that also means, I don't overanalyze guys or write them off because of their college affiliation. I have NO college team, nor do I have a conference I follow, so I don't have any level of bias at all. I've hit on several of the top players these last few drafts. Last year some of my favorites were: Preston Smith, Eric Kendricks and Todd Gurley. In 2014, I loved Khalil Mack, Aaron Donald, Jason Verrett, Teddy Bridgewater. Those were just a few of my favorite players in the last 2 draft classes. You can say I've hit it out of the park on those picks. This year in January I was already saying Carson Wentz is the best QB in this draft with the highest ceiling when he was still 5th or 6th on every major draft experts' Big Board. Now of course, he is the 1st or 2nd best QB on every big board out there and a strong possibility to be a top 10 pick. I can't guarantee this draft guide will have the most player reports. But I can guarantee that all these opinions are my own and come from watching the FILM. I will rank each player at their positions. I will go in order, starting with QB's. Many of the guys I absolutely love will be stars in the NFL, and some will be very high quality NFL starters. This guide is completely different and unique from any other draft publication out there. Use this as a reference to the draft while you are watching it live, or when looking at your favorite team's draft picks after the draft is complete to get a report. You'll have a list of their strengths, weaknesses and know what your getting before the player ever steps on the field. I put my blood, sweat, tears and TIME on this guide. I promise you guys that you will at the very least learn some new insights, and new things about these guys. You will not be disappointed! I have layed it out in an extremely easy to follow and understand format. Take a look guys, and would love to hear your thoughts.

Book Football and Manliness

Download or read book Football and Manliness written by Thomas P. Oates and published by University of Illinois Press. This book was released on 2017-03-30 with total page 326 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Women, African Americans, and gays have recently upended US culture with demands for inclusion and respect, while economic changes have transformed work and daily life for millions of Americans. The national obsession with the National Football League provides a window on this dynamic period of change, reshaping ideas about manliness to respond to new urgencies on and beyond the gridiron. Thomas P. Oates uses feminist theory to break down the dynamic cultural politics shaping, and shaped by, today's NFL. As he shows, the league's wildly popular product provides an arena for media producers to work out and recalibrate the anxieties, contradictions, and challenges that characterize contemporary masculinity. Oates draws from a range of pop culture narratives to map the complex set of theories about gender and race and to reveal a league and fan base in flux. Though longing for a past dominated by white masculinity, the mediated NFL also subtly aligns with a new economic reality that demands it cope with the shifting relations of gender, race, sexuality, and class. Indeed, pro football crafts new meanings of each by its canny mobilization of historic ideological processes.
