Book 7 Steps to Health Wellness

Download or read book 7 Steps to Health Wellness written by Sonja Christiansen,KRMT and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2016-02-20 with total page 57 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I often tell my patients that everything we put into our body has a potential to create untoward effects. Whether it is the fast food we eat because we do not take the time to eat a well-balanced diet, the lack of water we are drinking or medications that pose the risk of significant side effects or interacting with other medications that you may already be taking. Because of this, I tend to take the minimalists approach when it comes to prescribing medication. I am judicious in the choice of medications I use in my patients and try to limit what I prescribe to only those medications that I am certain will treat the condition for which they are being seen with the least possible risk for increase in untoward effects. After all, the first rule of the Hippocratic Oath is to first do no harm. Unfortunately, with new medications, I often find myself being asked to write for prescriptions that may not be properly suited for the situation or patient at hand. This is what I find so intriguing and refreshing about this book written by Ms. Christiansen. Her easy, step by step, explanation of breathing techniques, pressure point massage and tapping offer an almost side effect free method of improving your health regardless of what medical conditions you may have. I feel like it is a common sense approach to some well known and widely accepted alternative medicine techniques that empowers the patient to help take control of their health without adding medication and thus increasing the risk for medication induced reactions or interactions. I certainly believe alternative medicine can offer a viable alternative in conditions such as anxiety, depression, and hypertension. While, as Ms. Christiansen points out, these technique may not take the place of your medication, it is definitely an adjunct therapy which could prevent the need for additional medications in the future. In my opinion, it would be worthwhile to learn these simple techniques to see if they benefitted you and offered a natural alternative for treating an underlying medical condition you may have before simply adding another expensive medication which could result in unwanted negative side effects or other unforeseen medical complications. Beginning with a focus on the foods we eat, the author reveals how many diseases and symptoms of aging are the result of inflammation in the body, caused by poor diet and a lack of crucial nutrients. She explains the top foods to avoid, such as refined sugar, and the best nutrient-rich foods to include, along with easy and delicious recipes. Showing how regenerative medicine treats the roots of aging and disease, preventing them before they start, she details the regenerative properties of the liver complex, explaining the best ways to detox, and reveals how to restore optimal microbe balance in your gut. Dr. Lottor explores the regenerative properties of adaptogens, herbs, and nutriceuticals, the unobtrusive healing practices of energy medicine, the importance of hormone balance, and the concept of living water. She also underscores sleep as a core regenerative therapy. Looking at the most cutting-edge research in the rapidly emerging field of regenerative medicine, Dr. Lottor examines the potential of stem cell therapies for regeneration of joints and organs as well as for lengthening our DNA’s telomeres, the shrinkage of which is now considered a chief cause of aging. She also looks at the science of gene expression--epigenetics--and how DNA can be used as both a health predictor and a tool for preventing inherited diseases. Including a comprehensive resource section for finding products and practitioners, Dr. Lottor offers each of us the necessary tools and information to reverse aging and participate in your own wellness.

Book The Beasts in Your Brain

Download or read book The Beasts in Your Brain written by Katherine Speller and published by Zest Books TM. This book was released on 2023-09-05 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It can be hard to find the words to describe the icky feelings that seem to come from nowhere and sap all your joy and energy. You can tell that your brain just isn't pulling off the same tasks as others, and you're constantly bouncing between feeling nothing and feeling the weight of everything. It's hard enough to admit that you're struggling, but how do you even begin to navigate getting help when it feels like there's an enormous gap between you, your peers, and the adults in your life who keep saying they want to support you but just don't seem to get it? This is not your doctor's dry health pamphlet or a preachy self-care listicle. The Beasts in Your Brain is a guide and companion equally for you and your loved ones, here to provide that essential first dose of information, understanding, and validation about mental illness and how it affects the young people of today. This book knows how much harder things are for you and your generation, how out-of-touch much of the advice out there is (after all, how are you supposed to "just unplug" when more than half your social life is conducted online?), and how identity, circumstances, and stigma can affect your experiences. Though they might be scary or seem unstoppable, the beasts can be defeated. It will be hard work, but it is not work you will ever have to do alone. This book will be your first partner in your battle against the beasts, reminding you that there's always hope and humor to be found in openly talking about the realities of living with mental illness. Together with the support of your loved ones and the practical knowledge and tools you will learn in this book, you can win this fight.
