And those ubiquitous 1932 "Guest" license plates? There was no statutory requirement to either purchase or display them. They were sold for a dollar apiece by the motor vehicle department to tourists, strictly as souvenirs. That is, unless you were an out-of-state salesman, in which case you did have to buy one. These and hundreds of other intriguing facts and figures will bring the reader back time and again for many hours of fascinating reading.
