By accepting Dr. Ray Himeler's most generous offer, he figures his lifelong goals will be assured. After all, Ray has guaranteed him his own genetics department at Pioneer Medical Group, a starting six-figure salary, and his daughter's hand in marriage. But once the ring encircles Jessica's finger, Jim's dreams are dashed. Returning from a nightmarish honeymoon, tainted by his wife's flashbacks of childhood abuse, Jim finds himself living with a suicidal-spouse-turned-Jesus-freak and working long days for a father-in-law performing medical miracles that, for some unknown reason, he wants to keep a secret. As Jim seeks answers, he finds the truth about his own life and learns the evil motivations behind his father-in-law's deception. Is it possible? Could Ray's vast and growing riches be the result of brain transplants? And are the missing college students actually hosts for his wealthy clients' new lives?

Book New Lives for Old

Download or read book New Lives for Old written by Margaret Mead and published by HarperCollins. This book was released on 2016-05-10 with total page 596 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edition of New Lives for Old, prepared for the centennial of Mead's birth, features introductions by Stewart Brand and Mead's daughter, Mary Catherine Bateson. When Margaret Mead first studied the Manus Islanders of New Guinea in 1928, they were living with a Stone Age technology and economically vulnerable; they seemed ill-equipped to handle the massive impact that World War II had on their secluded world. But a unique set of circumstances allowed the Manus to adapt swiftly to the twentieth century, and their experience led Mead to develop a revolutionary theory of cultural transformation, one that favors rapid, over piecemeal, change. As relevant today as it was a half-century ago, New Lives for Old is an optimistic examination of a society that chose to change.

Book The Exchange

  • Author : Wayne Kniffen
  • Publisher : WestBow Press

  • Pages : 85 pages

Download or read book The Exchange written by Wayne Kniffen and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2021-07-07 with total page 85 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When you accept Jesus as your Lord and savior, you become a completely new creation. You now have a new life; one you’ve been given by God. An exchange takes place the moment you accept Jesus’s invitation to life: God’s quid pro quo. Something for something: You give him your old life, and he gives you a new life. In The Exchange, author Wayne Kniffen delves into the concept of exchange, helping you understand your new identity as a child of God. He discusses the idea that when you have a born-from-above experience with Christ, a spiritual transformation takes place on the inside. Your old nature is exchanged for a new nature. Because the transformation happens on the inside, it cannot be seen by physical eyes. But if there’s been a spiritual transformation, there will be a physical manifestation. It will begin to manifest through your character and conduct. The Exchange communicates complex spiritual truths in easy-to-understand ways, and Kniffen sprinkles examples and metaphors of spiritual truths about identity and the exchanged life throughout.

Book Applying Old Stories to New Lives

Download or read book Applying Old Stories to New Lives written by Tina Durham and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2011-03-25 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is based on my prayerful meditations on what the old stories must mean to us in the everyday present world. In our time, we have historians and scientist all running around attempting to demonstrate whether the stories are true or if they could even be accurate. The religious leaders always state that we use our faith with these stories in these times of faith questioning and proving, not be a doubting Thomas in these times. We do not have to see the scars or the proof, we believe because of the unseen. The intent of this book is not to change the real meanings in the Bible, but to make us think about the simple parts. Relying on the old trait of finding meaning and symbolism in literature, I have examined these stories. As you read the stories in scripture and the version of interpretation that I have found, ask yourself, what is God saying to you? Scripture is the love letter from a friend, God. He speaks to each of us differently and with different directions, these may not trigger the same thoughts in your understanding, but if they bring cause for you to examine the word, then I have been successful. As you begin to read this book, be prepared to ask yourself questions. Be prepared to listen to what God is telling you. So often we read a story and that is the story, we never revisit it. But the Bible is not like a regular book; it can be read over and over, each time revealing something more intriguing than the last. The layout of this book is to first consider who we are, what our role is in this vast community of people. Then I move through a section imaging how we interact and learn to live in Gods love and grace. Finally, I discuss some of our daily activities such as work, school, home ownership, and voting.

Book excerpt: A riveting firsthand account of one man’s mission to investigate and document some of the most astonishing phenomena of our time—children who speak of past life memory and reincarnation. All across the globe, small children spontaneously speak of previous lives, beg to be taken “home,” pine for mothers and husbands and mistresses from another life, and know things that there seems to be no normal way for them to know. From the moment these children can talk, they speak of people and events from the past—not vague stories of centuries ago, but details of specific, identifiable individuals who may have died just months, weeks, or even hours before the birth of the child in question. For thirty-seven years, Dr. Ian Stevenson has traveled the world from Lebanon to suburban Virginia investigating and documenting more than two thousand of these past life memory cases. Now, his essentially unknown work is being brought to the mainstream by Tom Shroder, the first journalist to have the privilege of accompanying Dr. Stevenson in his fieldwork. Shroder follows Stevenson into the lives of children and families touched by this phenomenon, changing from skeptic to believer as he comes face-to-face with concrete evidence he cannot discount in this spellbinding and true story.
