Book A Study of the Effect of Strong Absorption in S wave Pion Nucleon Scattering microform

Download or read book A Study of the Effect of Strong Absorption in S wave Pion Nucleon Scattering microform written by Kao, Chun Ning and published by National Library of Canada. This book was released on 1966 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The fact that the Coulomb force is due to the exchange of scalar and longitudinal photons between two charged particles is well known. In 1935 Yukawa (1) introduced the hypothesis that the strong nucleon-nucleon interaction is due to the exchange of a kind of quantum having a mass intermediate between that of an electron and that of a nucleon. The pion which is identified as the Yukawa particle was found by Lattes et al.(2) in 1947. Since then the interaction between pion and nucleon has became one of the most interesting problems in physics. A lot of experimental and theoretical work has been done. Of course the fruitful mode of attack on the problem is to study the scattering process between pion and nucleon. The effective range approximation and dispersion relations are usually used to analyse the scattering data. [...]" --

Book Introduction to High Energy Physics

Download or read book Introduction to High Energy Physics written by Donald H. Perkins and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2000-04-13 with total page 454 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This highly-regarded text provides a comprehensive introduction to modern particle physics. Extensively rewritten and updated, this 4th edition includes developments in elementary particle physics, as well as its connections with cosmology and astrophysics. As in previous editions, the balance between experiment and theory is continually emphasised. The stress is on the phenomenological approach and basic theoretical concepts rather than rigorous mathematical detail. Short descriptions are given of some of the key experiments in the field, and how they have influenced our thinking. Although most of the material is presented in the context of the Standard Model of quarks and leptons, the shortcomings of this model and new physics beyond its compass (such as supersymmetry, neutrino mass and oscillations, GUTs and superstrings) are also discussed. The text includes many problems and a detailed and annotated further reading list.

Book Stars as Laboratories for Fundamental Physics

Download or read book Stars as Laboratories for Fundamental Physics written by Georg G. Raffelt and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 1996-05 with total page 692 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Much of what we know about neutrinos is revealed by astronomical observations, and the same applies to the axion, a conjectured new particle that is a favored candidate for the main component of the dark matter of the universe.

Book The Anomalous Magnetic Moment of the Muon

Download or read book The Anomalous Magnetic Moment of the Muon written by Fred Jegerlehner and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008 with total page 433 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reviews the present state of knowledge of the anomalous magnetic moment a=(g-2)/2 of the muon. The muon anomalous magnetic moment is one of the most precisely measured quantities in elementary particle physics and provides one of the most stringent tests of relativistic quantum field theory as a fundamental theoretical framework. It allows for an extremely precise check of the standard model of elementary particles and of its limitations.
