Download or read book Follow the Spinning Sun written by Leandro Thomas Gonzales and published by Sunstone Press. This book was released on 2014-02-07 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Living in one of the most beautiful places on Earth, the Anasazi Indians enjoyed a good and bountiful life. Yet, for some reason, they abandoned their village and all that remains are the ruins of Tyuoni at the Bandelier National Monument in New Mexico. In this work of fiction, Jopin, an eighty year-old elder desperate for an answer, embarks on a prayer quest that takes him on a chain of events which will unveil the fate of Tyuoni. Deer-tracker, his pre-teen grandson, and Knee-nose, a young spotted deer, help Jopin deal with Chief Salamander’s questionable actions and motives as the tribe journeys on a treacherous and intriguing odyssey. In his story, the author strives to demonstrate how a significant religious event could have influenced the people to abandon their majestic village, join the Great Migration, and follow the spinning sun to their new homeland, even though popular belief purports that the Anasazi vanished because of war, severe drought, or famine. The wonder of living in such an extraordinary time and place will provoke interest in the age-old mystery of what really happened.
Download or read book Take Root and Bear Fruit written by L. Maxwell Owen and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-07-07 with total page 125 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It all started in a garden... From the garden of Eden to the garden of Gethsemane, to our eternal home in the garden of the Father, the garden has been a symbol or representation of our journey in this life. Throughout Scripture, we are encouraged to take root in God, to love Him with all of our heart, all of our soul, all of our mind, and all of our strength, and to anchor our souls in Him and in His word. Over and over in the Bible, we are also instructed to bear fruit. Bearing fruit or spreading the good news of the kingdom is a natural outcome of a heart that is wholly His. When we are rooted, sure and steadfast in God, we will impact the lives of those around us for Him; it is inevitable. We bear fruit when we are firmly rooted to the Lord. In this book, Mrs. Owen uses the analogy of a garden to beautifully illustrate this correlation between taking root and bearing fruit. There are many different players and contributors in the garden, each one with their own job to do: pollinators, sunlight, water, gardening tools, and more. Mrs. Owen shares with us how, just as in the garden, each person in the family of God has their own unique purpose. When we all work together, we become a fruitful and abundant garden firmly rooted in God and bearing fruit for His kingdom. “The surviving remnant of the house of Judah will again take root downward and bear fruit upward. For out of Jerusalem will go forth a remnant, and out of Mount Zion survivors. The zeal of the Lord will perform this” (2 Kings 19:30). This verse from 2 Kings can be understood literally as well as figuratively. Yes, God’s people would once again plant and harvest the land, but they would also once again be rooted in God’s hand, bearing fruit for Him. The goal of this book is to help us all become more firmly rooted in God and active in bearing fruit for Him, not from compulsion but from the joy of knowing our God.

Book excerpt: Fatherhood is a lifelong journey that twists and turns, has its ups and downs, like a long country road. Nothing quite prepares you for the start of the fatherhood journey, there is no map. However, we can learn from other who have traveled down that same unpredictable road. The book “Welcome to Fatherhood. Real Talk.” is an introduction to fatherhood for new dads who are in the whirlwind of fatherhood. The author taps into his past as a new father and unearths the valuable lessons every new dad should know. The book is designed to be real and raw; including funny stories from the author and invaluable scripture from the Bible. Excerpt“Having children is a very sanctifying and humbling process and there will be many laughs, tears, and hair pulling moments throughout the years. But that is how memories are made, through the ups and downs in life. We wouldn’t savor the sweet times of gathering around a campfire roasting mallows with your kids without the trying times of raising them up from newborns. Just like a sports team and the process they have to undergo, they can’t just step on to a field against another great team and expect to win. They must go through the blood, sweat and tears of practice and have the patience and belief that the process will work.”Fathers have a major responsibility in life, just as Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it” (ESV). Not only are we called to husbands and dads, we are also called to be ministers to our children and speaking truth into their life. The book “Welcome to Fatherhood. Real Talk.” will walk through the many different hats a father must wear and the many different plates he must keep spinning. This book will also give new fathers a few practical concepts, or “life hacks”, to help make life just a little bit easier
