Book What the Bible Says About

Download or read book What the Bible Says About written by Scott Dalton Myers and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2024-02-12 with total page 357 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Bible--God's inspired, unerring, and infallible Word--is truly His instruction manual for life and a moral compass for us all to live by. It tells us what is good, what is bad, what is right, and what is wrong. Unfortunately, many people believe that the Bible is no longer relevant today and was only applicable in biblical times. The Bible itself tells us quite the opposite. The issues and problems we face today are essentially the same as those faced by man in biblical times. Human nature has not changed, and God has not changed! Only the times have changed. The Bible has plenty to say about the issues people encounter every day, from the beginning of life to the end of life. I have addressed many of these in this book: "The Evidence of God's Existence;" "Who Was and Is Jesus;" "Being Saved;" "Forgiveness;" "Trials and Tribulations;" "What Happens When You Die;" "Families and Fathers;" "Humility;" "Worrying;" "Depression;" "The Environment and Nature;" "Racism;" "Abortion;" "Homosexuality;" "Adultery;" "Transgenderism;" "Alcohol, Drugs, and Addiction;" "The Death Penalty;" "The Right to Bear Arms;" "Government;" "Leadership;" "Man's Laws and God's Laws;" "Suicide;" "Money and the Rich;" "Natural Disasters;" "Satan;" "Demons and the Supernatural; "Creation, the Biblical Timeline, and the Age of the Universe;" and others. People today are pretty much the same as people were in biblical times. Basic human nature and the human condition (being born into sin) have not changed. We face the same challenges, the same temptations, and the same trials and tribulations as the early Christians did. The Bible contains advice and guidance on every possible issue or situation we face, if we only look to it for that guidance and direction and pray to God for wisdom and discernment. In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began. (Titus 1:2) That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us. (Hebrews 6:18) All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. (2 Timothy 3:16) The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever. (Isaiah 40:8) Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8-9) For I am the Lord, I change not. (Malachi 3:6) Finally, you/we should read the Bible like a love letter, not a textbook! John 3:16 tells us, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When God declared that He had told us all things, it doesn't even begin to describe all the information awaiting us between the covers of the Bible. Each of the selected subject matters in this book is a condensed summary of my study of the topic as presented in the Bible with the correlated Bible scriptures cited for easy reference, reproof, and self-study. The first section of the book entitled "Bible Studies 101" is representative of some of the basic teachings from the Bible answering common questions surrounding subjects such as salvation, dealing with temptations, raising families, death, while adding a short history of the Bible, how to study it, an overview of the Books of the Bible, and more. The second section, "Bible Studies 102," holds deeper teachings of biblical subjects like the three world ages, the Kenites, healthy foods, birth of Christ, a two-part series on angels, signs of the end times, and others. The studies are taken directly from God's Word, unbridled by academia, religion, denomination, doctrine, tenant, tradition, philosophy or theology-just the Bible. Study resources are the King James Authorized Version Bible, the New Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible (Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek language dictionaries), Green's Interlinear Bible (manuscripts of the original Hebrew and Greek text), and Webster's Dictionary. These studies will help open your Bible to understanding as written, but we have to read it. The Bible is His letter to us, teaching history, language, natural sciences, how to live productive, loving, healthy and happy lives, including our supernatural, spiritual, and eternal lives to follow and so much more. Our Father simply desires that His children grow in wisdom and love for Him as He loves us.

Book The Never Ending Revival

Download or read book The Never Ending Revival written by Michael F. Scully and published by University of Illinois Press. This book was released on 2022-08-15 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, there has been an upsurge in interest in "roots music" and "world music," popular forms that fuse contemporary sounds with traditional vernacular styles. In the 1950s and 1960s, the music industry characterized similar sounds simply as "folk music." Focusing on such music since the 1950s, The Never-Ending Revival: Rounder Records and the Folk Alliance analyzes the intrinsic contradictions of a commercialized folk culture. Both Rounder Records and the North American Folk Music and Dance Alliance have sought to make folk music widely available, while simultaneously respecting its defining traditions and unique community atmosphere. By tracing the histories of these organizations, Michael F. Scully examines the ongoing controversy surrounding the profitability of folk music. He explores the lively debates about the difficulty of making commercially accessible music, honoring tradition, and remaining artistically relevant, all without "selling out." In the late 1950s through the 1960s, the folk music revival pervaded the mainstream music industry, with artists such as Bob Dylan and Joan Baez singing historically or politically informed ballads based on musical forms from Appalachia and the South. In the twenty-first century, the revival continues, and it includes a variety of music derived from Cajun, African American, and Mexican traditions, among many others. Even though the mainstream music industry and media largely ignore the term "folk music," a strong allure based on nostalgia, the desire for community, and a sense of exclusiveness augments an enthusiastic following connected by word-of-mouth, numerous festivals, and the Internet. There are more folk festivals now than there were during the original boom of the 1960s, suggesting that music artists, agents, and record label representatives are striking a successful balance between tradition and profitability. Scully combines rich interviews of music executives and practicing folk musicians with valuable personal experience to reveal how this American subculture remains in a "never-ending revival" based on fluid definitions of folk and folk music.

This book was released on 2015-02-26 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In light of today’s extensive use of digital communication, this volume focuses on how to understand and manage the various types of linguistically-based products that facilitate the use and extraction of information. Including conceptual and terminological databases, digital dictionaries, thesauri, language corpora, and ontologies, they all contribute to the development and improvement of language industries, such as those devoted to automatic translation, knowledge management, knowledge retrieval, linguistic data analysis, and so on. As the theoretical background underlying these applications is outlined in detail in the earlier chapters of the book, the reader is able to establish the necessary links between the various but related kinds of linguistic –and, in particular, semantic– applications. A general review of several theories and linguistic models that influence the practical application of Meaning studies to the new technologies is also included. This book is aimed at students and researchers of Linguistics, as well as those with a basic knowledge of Linguistics and Semantics who are interested in the on-going development of the handling of meaning and its practical usage

Book Research Methods in Vocabulary Studies

Download or read book Research Methods in Vocabulary Studies written by Philip Durrant and published by John Benjamins Publishing Company. This book was released on 2022-09-15 with total page 343 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Understanding vocabulary and its role in language learning is one of the central tasks of applied linguistic research. It is also an area that has seen, and continues to see, huge progress in terms of the complexity and diversity of work being done. While this makes for a rich and exciting research scene, it can also make the task of developing vocabulary research skills a daunting one as specialist subfields develop ever more sophisticated concepts and methods. This book aims to give readers an understanding of the area that is both detailed and rounded by introducing them to understanding and doing vocabulary research from four key perspectives: corpus linguistics, psycholinguistics, language testing, and teaching and learning. Within each area, a state-of-the-art review describes fundamental concepts and commonly used methods, evaluates ongoing methodological debates, and points to areas for future development. It aims both to give readers a solid grounding in the specialized methods and debates associated with each area and to build connections across these specializations, considering points of contact and ways in which they can work together.

Download or read book Cultural Studies written by and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2016-09-12 with total page 339 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume claims that interdisciplinarity and translation constitute the two main ‘challenges’ for cultural studies today. These conceptual issues (‘inter’ and ‘trans’) express themselves within specific historical and ‘cultural’ contexts. Interdisciplinarity is linked with the ongoing process of the institutionalisation of cultural studies in national academies, but also increasingly internationally, comparatively and to a certain extent even globally (cf. cultural studies of ‘global culture’). Translation concerns cultural studies both as an object or product and as a subject or producer of translation processes. Cultural studies is the result of translation, translates and is being translated. The essays in this volume therefore relate these various ongoing cultural, linguistic and institutional translation processes to political and ethical issues of internationalisation and globalisation. The contributions draw their originality and strength from strategically crossing, disciplinary and national boundaries. They deliberately ignore the question of what may be ‘proper’ (to) cultural studies, and instead problematise the notions of ‘propriety’ and ‘belonging’. As a ‘reading practice’ cultural studies, in these pages, is performed through adaptations and combinations of theory and critical practice. The volume should be of interest to everyone concerned with cultural studies’ role in promoting intellectual debate within an increasingly international and ‘globalised’ public sphere.

This book was released on 2015-02-05 with total page 379 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies are the three main research areas within Philology. Scientific production, such as conferences and journals, has tended towards specialization, and has been traditionally classified according to separate disciplines and languages. However, this volume offers a holistic view of the wide area of Philology, therefore allowing the permeability of the three areas mentioned above. As such, this book shows that the line that separates Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies is actually very thin. This volume is composed of a miscellanea of philological studies dealing with various trends in Modern Language research. It looks at three languages in particular: Spanish, English and French, with a special relevance to the first two.

Book The never ending Brief Encounter

Download or read book The never ending Brief Encounter written by Brian McFarlane and published by Manchester University Press. This book was released on 2019-08-28 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a book for all those who have been absorbed and moved by Brief Encounter in the seventy or so years since its first appearance. It explores the central relationship of the film, where two people who fall unexpectedly in love come to realise that there is more to life than self-gratification. Mores have undoubtedly changed, for better or worse, but that essential moral choice has never lost its power. While acknowledging this, the book goes further in an effort to account for the way the film has passed into the wider culture. People born decades after its first appearance are now adept at picking up references to it, whether a black-and-white scene in a much later film or a passing joke about a bald man in a barber’s shop.
